Chapter 182 The Divine Tomb Yet to Be Set Foot On by the Ancient Serpent

The location of the Tomb of the Gods is extremely secretive; it is a place that the living cannot reach, a place that only the gods can access, a place of the underworld that contains the souls of the dead.

Or perhaps the underworld that the gods now claim to be is actually built on the tomb of the gods. They built magnificent structures on the underworld to symbolize their ownership of this place—but in reality, the underworld existed forever long before the gods came here.

This is the eternal abode of the dead, where all the souls of the deceased return.

Even the gods found it difficult to understand the underlying principles.

Just like it is now.

"No matter how many times I come here, it's always so magical."

In the gloomy underworld, the sun god Ujat looked up at the pitch-black sky above and couldn't help but sigh.

One moment he was in his holy city, and the next he was in the underworld. This underworld has an attraction that is equal for all souls. No matter how many times you experience it, it is worthy of being called a miracle.

Not the miracles we see today, but the true miracles that belonged only to those who annihilated the gods of that time.

Disregarding reason and rules, or rather, these so-called miracles are themselves rules—like two plus two always equals four, like summer leaves always being green, like ripe fruit always falling from the tree instead of flying into the sky.

All souls will return to the other side, to the underworld; this is all so natural.

However, the sun god Ujat came here not only to experience this ancient miracle, but also for something more important—so, after a moment, he opened his arms.

He had always held a soul in his hands, a soul called something like Sai... Names weren't that important, as long as they could be used.

"I remember you said that as my believer, you were willing to do anything for me, right?"

With that, the sun god Ujat placed the soul on the ground of the underworld.

The moment this abnormally entered soul touched the surface of the underworld, both the earth and the sky trembled simultaneously. Then, as if some special condition had been triggered, a tall and imposing humanoid phantom gradually emerged between heaven and earth.

The imposing, tall, humanoid phantom had the head of a jackal, and held a long staff carved with unknown characters in its right hand, while in its left hand it held a scale.

"Ah ah ah ah ah--"

The tiny soul on the ground let out a piercing scream, but it had no effect on the humanoid phantom with a jackal's head in mid-air. The phantom simply waved its long staff, and the tiny soul fell to one side of the scale.

On the other side of the scale, however, lay a feather.

"Yes! That's it!"

Ujat, the sun god who had been observing everything, unconsciously clenched his fist.

Whenever the soul of a person who has committed a grave sin is offered up, the Annihilation God with the head of a jackal will appear and weigh the soul with the scales in his hand. If the soul is lighter than a feather, it will disappear along with the Annihilation God. If the soul is heavier than a feather, a huge monster with the head of a crocodile will swallow the soul whole.

And he was waiting for that enormous monster to appear.

The burly humanoid figure with a jackal's head, sitting upright in mid-air, was merely a phantom, but the enormous monster with a crocodile's head was a real creature that emerged from the ground—in other words, as long as you followed the path that the monster emerged from, you could reach a more hidden and profound layer in the Netherworld.

However, this opportunity is not so easy to seize. Not to mention that the crocodile's huge jaws are extremely dangerous, the earth will also close when the crocodile's jaws retreat into the ground. This means that he only has a fleeting moment left.

Under normal circumstances, this would be impossible, but for Ujat, who is a god, it is difficult, but still within his power.

And so, just as the weight of that soul surpassed that of a feather, the sun god Ujat had already transformed into a streak of light.

The enormous crocodile-headed monster opened its mouth and swallowed the soul whole. Even though half of its head had lost its flesh and skin, leaving only a pale skeleton, it still didn't let in a single breath. In just a moment, the crocodile-headed monster disappeared into the ground again. But in that short moment, the sun god Ujat also followed and burrowed into the crack leading to the depths of the underworld.

Within the pitch-black crack lies true darkness, and the sun god Ujat, having just entered, already felt an urge to fall into a deep sleep—but Ujat knew very well that he could not fall asleep at this time, for once he slept beneath the underworld, it would truly be an eternal slumber.

Fortunately, the endless darkness soon ended.

What appeared in Ujat's sight was eternal light.

It was a warm light, far gentler than sunlight, which could bring peace even to the dead. And beneath this light stood one obelisk after another.

The ancient patterns engraved on the obelisk clearly represent an ancient language composed of images. This language is so exquisite that one can understand its meaning at a glance, even without knowing the characters.

[The Tomb of Tefnut, the Rain Goddess]

[The Tomb of the Wind God, Shu]

Geb, the god of the earth, was buried here.

Osiris is buried here.

[Ishmael, the woman of life, has now fallen into eternal sleep.]

……

Tall, dark obelisks stretched out one after another, their ancient divine names dazzling the sun god Ujat—but none of these obelisks were the ones Ujat was looking for.

After a short search, Ujat finally found the obelisk he was looking for.

The Tomb of Horus, the Sun God, the place where the eternal and blazing sun dies.

Having skillfully avoided the crocodile-headed monster that was wandering among the various obelisks, Ujat infiltrated beneath the obelisk inscribed with the name of the sun god Horus, and entered the hidden tomb chamber, where he found the remains of a creature quite similar to his own, also with a falcon's head and a human body.

Unlike Ujat, the eagle-headed, human-bodied remains, even though they had been dead for who knows how long, still radiated a warm sunlight.

"Such radiance would be a waste to leave it in the underworld."

As he said this, Ujat was already sitting upright on the corpse, his entire body merging with the light.

"Lend me all your light."
