Star Wars: From the Clone Wars to Starfaring Heroes
Chapter 24 24 Premonition
Chapter 24 - Premonition
Years of training flashed through Tann's mind, intertwining and dancing with the visions she had foreseen.
Chaos in space, against a deep blue backdrop.
Some of the faces were ones she had met during her research, while others were complete strangers.
Landing troops, front lines...
A brutal firefight unfolds in the dazzling white corridor.
The sleeping army was awakened, putting up a desperate last stand.
A strategy built on lies, as fragile as a quagmire.
ambush.
failure.
“Then we must intensify our attack,” Tann said, exchanging a determined look with Dooku. “It’s too late to cancel the attack now. The Jedi will eventually find out that we’ve planted spies among them. Even if they already know our plan, it can become their trap. I will devise a strategy they never expected and make them pay the price.”
It was no accident that she was able to stand out among her peers at Chess Academy.
Tann is the greatest general in the galaxy, how could she not be?
Under the guidance of the Sith Lord, she honed her precognitive abilities to the point that she could foresee every move in her mind.
She is no longer just a "skywalker".
Tann always anticipates things a hundred steps ahead.
She has always lived her life in anticipation of the future and planning for the past. Who can keep up with her pace?
On the battlefield, she had never encountered an opponent.
“No, Tann,” Dooku once again ruthlessly stripped her of her honor, “It was Speaker Argent who initially pushed for this attack, and the Senate appointed him as the commander of the operation.”
absurd!
How can a tycoon who only counts money command military operations?!
Tann was furious about this.
She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down and relax.
She must have gotten used to this unorthodox way of mixing political and military issues in the galaxy.
If this had happened in the territory of Chiss, someone would certainly have been tried by a military court and exiled.
However, in reality, Captain Soron almost lost his job for rescuing 8,000 people from a crashed civilian liner simply because he violated military agreements.
His trial became headline news on the planet Chiss.
Tann still remembers that time; it was the only topic of conversation in the academy.
She may never get used to it, but the best thing she can do is to comply.
"He at least understands the current situation, doesn't he?" Tann frowned. "I can still advise the Speaker to ensure the operation has the highest possible chance of success—"
“He already knows all the information he needs,” Dooku answered smoothly, almost too smoothly, clearly having already reached a conclusion, “and you are not allowed to do so.”
Tann slowly stood up, a move that caught the attention of the two dark cultists behind her.
She straightened her shoulders and could only manage a bitter smile.
"What are my chances in the race for Supreme Commander?"
Tann took a risk and changed the subject.
Upon hearing this, Dooku remained silent for a moment before slowly saying, "The Senate is still divided and unable to make a decision."
“So much time has passed, can’t we still put this proposal to a vote again?” Tann questioned. “Even if it fails, it will be an effective way to assess our progress on this matter.”
“Don’t cross the line, Tann,” Dooku’s voice was sharp and pointed, her probing had reached the limit of his tolerance. “Now, just continue to win on the front lines and leave the Senate to me.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Dooku's holographic image disappeared, leaving Tann staring at the empty red wall opposite the room.
How can the army continue to achieve victory when it is in such disarray?
Without a clear command structure, senior officers like her have to engage in power struggles with other senior officers to compete for capable subordinates.
It was because Admiral Trench nearly lost his life that Captain Bontri returned to her command.
Coupled with interference from political forces, it seems that every officer is pursuing their own goals or those of their business owners.
Separation, chaos, and each going its own way.
There is no unified vision.
There is no mission to unite separatists.
This is why a supreme commander is needed now more than ever before.
but……
Everyone has their own ideas.
The Confederation of Independent Systems outnumbered the Republic by four to one, but as Confederate officers pursued their short-sighted ambitions and adventures, everything they did was a waste of time…
Tann suddenly realized that they would fail. She didn't even need to foresee it to understand.
It was clear that Dooku wanted to humiliate Speaker Argent by sabotaging the invasion of Camino.
Moreover, for reasons only he knows, he is delaying her campaign for supreme commander.
This made her somewhat worried.
Because Tann is the only suitable person for this position.
Other members of the Dark Cult were too little known in Parliament, while other senior officers in the military were controlled by a corporate oligarch.
Tann abhorred the fact that the military was subject to politics and could not exist independently.
She loathed having to get involved in politics; it was an ironclad rule deeply ingrained in her mind from the moment she became a military cadet.
But now, Tann is no longer in the Chisespace, is he?
If she wants to succeed in the galaxy, she has no choice but to play by their rules.
"Owner?"
Vinok shouted.
Tann glanced at them and asked bluntly, "Whom are you allied with?"
After a long silence, Karok replied, "You, Master."
“Very good,” Tann’s blood-red eyes narrowed. “Dooku underestimated you because of your weak Force, but that won’t be your fatal weakness. Come with me, and I will prove that there are many more ways to demonstrate power.”
The twins bowed simultaneously and said in unison, "We follow you, Master."
“Call me General,” Tann corrected. “Now, how do we win this war?”
Following Dooku's instructions, Tann used the Force to expand her precognitive abilities.
She went further and further away, until she felt as if the entire Milky Way was in the palm of her hand.
Sweat streamed down her purple cheeks. At that moment, she seemed to transcend herself, appearing detached from the real world from an external perspective.
Detachment, tranquility.
Tann closed one eye and opened the other, and the vision slowly unfolded.
Soldiers; a dark shadow at the center of the Milky Way.
Scissors; the arguing politicians are oblivious to the pale hand that is gradually tightening its grip on the republic's throat.
The spoils; a fortress built on piles of bones, ruled by a half-human, half-machine monster.
Slaughter; blue and green crystals, soaked in blood.
……
Tann blinked, his legs feeling a little weak.
She struggled to stand firm, feeling as if her skin were a strange garment, as if she had transformed back into the military academy cadet wearing an ill-fitting uniform.
Tann indulged himself and saw too much.
But there was one thing she didn't see.
That's herself.
Whatever future she foresaw, she was not part of it.
She really wanted to know why.
Tann must figure out what Dooku is plotting and stop him.
She couldn't let him ruin her just when she was about to win!
But to do that, she had to get involved in politics.
This is a territory that even the renowned Captain Thrawn dares not venture into.
Tann has the ability to foresee the future, but even so, her premonitions are not absolute, only relative to herself.
With her military talent, her foresight was able to reliably predict almost every strategic and tactical operation in advance.
But what about politics?
She never set foot in the Confederate Parliament.
This was beyond her area of expertise.
