Chapter 81 - Each with their own ulterior motives (Second update)
Bosawui, Bosa Galaxy.
Bosa Space.
"Colonel Fasta reporting."
"explain."
Severn Tann stood in front of the huge observation window on the bridge, his arms crossed over his chest.
Her red-glowing eyes were looking down at Drevstahn, the political center of the planet Bosavui and the seat of the Bosavui Council.
On the planet's surface, the blue waters of Rielwack rhythmically lapped against the coastline, gently rocking the countless ships anchored in the deep blue harbor of Drevstahn.
The yellow light of the star Bosa spread across the sea, forming a dazzling path of light that stretched all the way to the horizon.
Some huge dark shadows swept low over the sea, startling flocks of seabirds that scattered away from their habitat.
Those were massive air cruisers built by the Geonosisians.
It was these weapons that dealt a devastating blow to the enemy in the Battle of Sarapin.
"Our air patrols detected three divisions of Bosa troops moving toward the area under our control through the western mountain pass."
“Urwalstahn,” Treb Ablon growled, his thick hair standing on end in fury. “A bunch of cowards trying to take advantage! They show up now that the war is over.”
Treb Ablon, a Bosa man with a flat nose and hair that was a dark brown like ancient tree bark.
He represented Nafshestahn, the first of the eighteen major city-states of Bosavuy to form an alliance with the separatists.
When the massive shadow of the Confederate Second Fleet loomed over the continents of Bosavoy, the Bosavoy Council began to consider surrendering.
Parliament's conditions were to transfer the operation of the planetary satellite to the Second Fleet and to fully utilize the Bosa spy network for separatist purposes.
In exchange, the Confederation will not launch a ground assault, and its robot army will not be stationed in urban areas.
Tann rejected the offers without even thinking about them.
She launched a full-scale invasion of the planet directly from orbit, targeting eighteen city-states.
In just three days, hundreds of thousands of "Vulture" robotic fighter jets completely seized air superiority.
Countless troop transports rained down on the planet's surface like a dense storm, and an army of countless separatist robots began their all-consuming advance.
Millions of combat robots, lined up in tight formations, marched in a mighty procession along the eastern coast of Rielwack, conquering city after city.
They carved out a virtually bloodless route toward Drevstahn.
The Bosavuy Defense Forces initially launched some weak attacks against the Second Fleet's robot army.
But they soon discovered that these robots would only fire when attacked.
But once they open fire, the firepower is overwhelming, and the war is destructive and merciless.
After witnessing the fall of the city-state of Grena Sjöstahn, the remaining city-states gave up resistance.
The citizens of the city-state quickly realized that as long as they didn't provoke these silent metal soldiers, they could continue to live their peaceful lives.
This is exactly Severn Tann's strategy.
She had studied the Bosa people, who were inherently proud and incapable of genuinely accepting surrender.
However, their culture is also close to that of shrewd and cunning merchants, so they would never engage in direct combat on open battlefields.
Tann understood that once the robot army displayed its ruthless destructive power, the Bosa Council would inevitably declare "Alclay" to be at war.
With the full strength of the Confederation, crushing the Bosa space would indeed be a piece of cake.
But this process will be very long.
Nafschestad is the penultimate capital city on the way to Drevstad.
Here, Tann's strategy worked for the first time.
As the robot army methodically took over the city's barracks, Nafshestan's representative in the Bosa Council, Treb Ablon, found her.
Ablon's terms were straightforward: "Nafshestahn will receive trade privileges superior to other city-states after the war, and will have a greater say in the council. In exchange, Nafshestahn will voluntarily secede from Bosa, join the Confederation, and provide crucial intelligence from Bosa's spy network."
Tann accepted.
She then pointed to the last target before Drevstahn: Kovipstahn.
Surprisingly, this city-state offered the same conditions for allegiance.
The Bosas' almost "passive" response to this conquest perfectly illustrated their "Way of Bosa," just as Tann had guessed.
Unlike most races in the galaxy, the Bosas do not consider submission to the strong a disgrace.
In the world of Bosa, espionage, backstabbing, political assassinations, and fierce power struggles are commonplace.
Its brutality even made the Syndicul in the Qiss Sector seem much milder.
After Tann showed a willingness to negotiate, the various city-states of Bosa immediately seized the opportunity and tried every means to gain more benefits for themselves.
In just half a galactic month, the separatist robot army had taken control of nearly a third of the western continent, and more city-states had voluntarily submitted to them.
Three robot armies encircled the Kurulgrast Mountains surrounding the city of Drevstarn, advancing simultaneously from the north, west, and south.
They quickly seized the planet's largest spaceport and occupied the noble estates and clan territories built on the steep cliffs overlooking the planet's capital, Drevstane.
Meanwhile, frigates built by Geonosis completed the naval blockade of Drevstahn.
Drevstane was completely surrounded.
At the top of the cliff, hundreds of J-1 and HAG-M self-propelled guns were densely packed together, raining shells on the ray shield protecting the city day and night.
Under a clear sky, the thunderous roar of cannon fire continued unabated. The sharp whistling of the Geonosis frigates as they swooped down, and the sight of them destroying any ships attempting to break through the blockade, became a common sight to the Drevstahns.
……
Colonel Fasta stood beside Tann, glanced at the group of Bosas surrounding them, and asked in a low voice, "General, should we stop them?"
She was referring to the Ulvarstahn envoy who had come to negotiate.
“Take a division with you and bring their commander to me,” Tann said calmly. “I want to hear what they have to say.”
"understand!"
Colonel Fasta saluted and turned to leave.
At this moment, Finn Kelley, the representative of Kovipistaen, said with a smile, "Kovipistaen hopes you will not forget the price of our cooperation. It was our guides who helped your army find the way in the Kurul Algrest Mountains."
Treb Ablon, listening nearby, felt a surge of anger. He glared fiercely at Finn's back, his teeth grinding together, as if his gaze could pierce through Finn if he had a knife in his hand.
Tann ignored them, preoccupied with the true intentions of the Urwalstan government.
Now, in addition to the approximately two million combat robots stationed at the foot of the mountains, there are also 20,000 Bosa soldiers from four divisions stationed around the magnificent palatial mansions "generously donated" by Nafshestan and Kovipistan along the mountainside.
The Bosas are not inherently a warlike race; these Bosa forces are more of a symbolic presence, used to demonstrate that their agreement with the separatists is "real and effective."
In fact, those two million robots alone were enough to conquer Drevstahn, because the city only had ray shields and could not withstand physical attacks.
Tann's continued shelling was itself a threat, an attitude, sending a message to the city that she could end it all at any time and take over the city completely.
The Bosa Parliament repeatedly presented surrender terms, each time making even greater concessions.
Tann will use his "third vision" to explore whether there are any more favorable treaties.
Every time, she always managed to find, or rather, "see".
So she refused to surrender to the other party time and time again.
This secretly pleased Ablon and Kelly.
After all, the more devastating the collapse of Drevständ, the higher the status of their hometown will be.
Three Bosa divisions, approximately 15,000 soldiers.
This number itself is not large, but what is important is that it means that cities west of the Kurul algaster mountains are likely to follow suit after observing the situation.
The western continent originally had nine major city-states, including Drevstahn.
Gna Sjöstahn has been reduced to ashes. If Urvarstahn were to side with separatism, half of the members of the Bosa Council would be on Tann's side.
This percentage is enough to force the remaining lawmakers to seriously consider whether they should cut their losses in time.
“General, this is Larin Krefer, representing Urwalstan.” Colonel Fasta’s voice interrupted Tann’s thoughts as she brought back a young Bosa man in a crisp military uniform with short hair.
“Ulvarstahn has come…” Krefer began, his gaze sweeping over Abron and Kailai, “…to discuss terms.”
“Then tell me.” Ablon raised his chin.
Kyle's lips parted, revealing sharp canines. "General Tann, whatever Urwalstarn can give, we, Kovipistan, can give as much, or even more!"
“You’re speaking too soon,” Clayfield said, ignoring Kelley. “General Tann, can we… speak alone?”
Kelly's fur trembled slightly from the disdain, indicating her annoyance.
Tann stared at Clayfield expressionlessly, only slightly raising his chin to signal him to continue.
The Ulvarstahn ambassador smiled warmly: “I have brought three divisions as a symbol of our sincerity. Our western clans have long been at odds with those east of the Kurul-Argaster Mountains. We are utterly disgusted by their habitual methods of seizing political power through double-dealing.”
“General Tann…” Abron couldn’t help but want to retort.
“General, the clans in the east are not your true allies,” Kreffer boldly interrupted Ablon, speaking rapidly. “They are like vultures circling a wounded Krask, just waiting for it to fall… and they will never forgive you for what you did to Grena Sherstarn.”
Abron and Kelly's expressions changed drastically, and they were about to rush forward.
But at that moment, the more than twenty combat robots guarding the rooftop balcony stepped forward in unison, their cold gun barrels slightly adjusting their direction, stopping their impulsive actions.
"So, will Urwalstan forgive me?" Tann tilted his head, his deep gaze fixed on the young Bosa.
“We are different from them,” Krefe gestured with his chin toward Abron and Kailai, emphasizing the difference between “us” and “them.” “Urvalstahn has no close clan ties with Gna Shestahn. If you accept our terms, Urvalstahn will bring the city-states of Drelstahn, Grey Shefstahn, and Kolmesstahn from the western continent to your side.”
Kelly tried her best to remain calm, but the hair on her body stood on end uncontrollably, revealing her inner shock and anxiety.
A chill ran through Tann's heart; his efforts in studying the complex cultural customs of the Bosas had indeed paid off.
Compared to the two city-states in the west, the east now offers the influence of four city-states.
This would be enough to create an overwhelming advantage in the Bosa Parliament and completely turn the tide.
"Don't be fooled by him, General!" Ablon said urgently, "He deliberately avoided Odwestahn, the most powerful city-state in the east..."
Tann shifted his attention away from the arguing group of Bosas in front of him.
These creatures... are so primitive it's boring.
The people of Bosa are competitive and politically astute; if they could set aside their endless rivalry and engage in even minimal cooperation, their achievements would far exceed what they have attained.
Their entire culture seems to be built on murder and mutual distrust, lacking genuine trust...
This ultimately led to this situation.
What other race in the universe would quarrel endlessly over currying favor with an enemy?
Tann blinked, suddenly having a strange premonition.
In that instant, a subtle yet distinct stinging sensation suddenly spread across her entire body, making her hair stand on end.
A faint red light flickered among the branches and leaves.
boom!
