Chapter 2 This Killer Isn't So Cold
Chapter 2 This Killer Isn't So Cold
At this moment, Luca looked at the two smiling guys and was speechless.
These two guys are truly shameless and despicable.
In the original storyline, Henry was caught by the police for drug trafficking. In order to avoid being arrested, he became a witness for the police, betraying his boss and all his brothers.
Jimmy led a group to rob the airport, but his greed prevented him from taking a larger share of the loot. In the end, he killed all his accomplices because they were too ostentatious.
There was another guy named Tommy, a brute who killed a member of the family and was eventually executed by the family.
These three together are a formidable trio.
But why are there only two?
"Come on, let me introduce you."
Marigio gestured for the two good fellows to sit down, then introduced them to Luca. Afterward, pointing to the photograph in Luca's hand, he added:
“Luca, Henry, and Jimmy know Kahn quite well. They know where Kahn often hangs out. If you have any specific information you want to know, you can contact them.”
Then he said to the two of them, "You two cooperate with Luca and follow his orders in all actions."
Jimmy, who was over 40 and much older than Luca, was very humble in front of him. “I have heard of Luca’s name for a long time. Who in the Bronx does not know his title as a peace ambassador? I would be happy to serve him.”
He squinted and smiled like an old fox.
Unlike himself, Luca is a pure-blooded Sicilian. If things continue like this, he will become a full member sooner or later. If he can build a good relationship with him...
Thinking of this, Jimmy's gaze toward Luca became even more "friendly".
Henry quickly responded, even offering Luca a toast, saying, "It is my honor to serve you, sir."
Luca politely clinked glasses with Luca.
In his heart, he was cursing: "Damn it, I'm counting on you for your service, so just don't betray me."
While everyone was chatting, Luca opened the panel to check the skills of the two.
It's at least a C-level card.
[Character Card: Henry]
[Shameless Scoundrel: When communicating with the police, police trust level increases by 10%; when a defector provides testimony to the police, police trust level increases by an additional 40%]
[Learning Requirements: 1. Must have a friendship level of Friend or higher; 2. Skill Fragment x20]
Luca: "."
How do you, a member of the mafia, have this kind of ability?
[Character Card: Jimmy]
[Greedy One: Each time illicit income is obtained, the conversion rate of stolen money increases by 5%, and the probability of triggering a police search decreases by 10%; after eliminating teammates, the conversion rate of stolen money increases by an additional 15%]
[Learning Requirements: 1. Must have a friendship level of Friend or higher; 2. Skill Fragment x20]
Luca: "."
Good heavens! Luca exclaimed, "Good heavens!"
Although he had expected that these two guys were no good, their abilities still dazzled Luca.
All of them are skills that allow you to betray your teammates.
That's something else!
That's impressive, I, Luca, have him!
After a few bottles of wine, the three of them had grown much closer.
They are all peripheral members of the same family, and Luca, being a pure-blooded Sicilian whose father was a "war hero who died in battle," is highly capable and deeply valued by Marigio. It's only a matter of time before he becomes the official member.
Without Luca making any effort to befriend him, Jimmy and Henry both took the initiative to build rapport with him, hoping to turn Luca into one of their own.
If they have family members in the future, things will undoubtedly be much easier for them.
“I’ve heard of you two before. You’re with Pauli, right?” Luca said, seemingly casually. “Pauli is a pretty good boss, and he treats his subordinates well.”
Pauli was another key figure in the family, and he lived in a different territory from Marigio, so Luca rarely had any contact with these guys before. Moreover, he hadn't awakened his past life memories yet, so he didn't know what was so special about these guys.
But it's different now.
Hearing Luca's words, Henry just chuckled dryly. Pauline was alright, but he was too timid and wouldn't let his men traffic drugs.
Thinking of this, he secretly glanced at Jimmy smoking beside him. He remembered that when Paul warned him not to deal drugs, he also told him to stay away from Jimmy. Jimmy was good at making money, but he was too arrogant, too risky, and a restless person.
Jimmy took a drag of his cigarette, his gaze unreadable. He'd been working for Poly for over twenty years, giving that guy so much money—what good had it all done? Because of his bloodline, he was still just an outsider, with no chance of ever becoming a full member.
Luca casually mentioned Pauli, which immediately sparked a flurry of thoughts in both of them.
"Oh right, I remember you had an accomplice, didn't you? Someone named Tommy?" Luca seemed a little unsure. "Didn't he come with you?"
Three good guys, how come only two showed up?
"Tommy has unfortunately passed away, just last week." Jimmy's expression was indescribable; when he heard the news, he was so angry he almost smashed his car.
I thought I could latch onto someone powerful from now on, but it turned out to be just a dream.
Luca was stunned when he heard the news. Oh no, he had already been executed by the family?
This is what happens when you kill a full-fledged member of the Mafia.
What a pity, Tommy is most likely a C-rank card, and maybe he has skills he can learn.
Three good guys, now only two are left.
“Oh, this is truly regrettable news,” Luca sighed, raising his glass. “May he rest in peace.”
The two of them then shared a drink with him.
Then Luca asked about the mission and information about Kahn Jones.
Jimmy and Henry had been drug dealers together for a long time, so they naturally knew that a newcomer had appeared in their territory and was taking away a lot of their business. They tried everything to get rid of him, but to no avail.
Kahn had a team of skilled gunmen by his side, while Jimmy and Henry, two mediocre fighters, were no match for that kind of drug lord.
"He brings products to the Bronx every Tuesday."
Jimmy went on and on about a lot of things, including the various people Kahn was dealing with, including Russian gangs and Japanese gangs, and so on.
Luca's gaze, however, was somewhat unfocused.
He stared at Kahn's photo, and for some reason, he felt like he had seen this guy somewhere before.
Which movie is this character in?
Next Tuesday, at a hotel in the Bronx.
“It’s a pleasure to see you again, Mr. Jones.”
With the waiter's enthusiastic greeting, the obese and bloated Kahn Jones, surrounded by a group of gunmen, walked into the elevator next door.
He left a few men downstairs to guard the area, while the rest of them went upstairs with him.
Meanwhile, across the street from the hotel, a black car was parked. Luca, sitting in the back seat, silently stared at the hotel entrance, a thoughtful expression returning to his face.
Upon seeing the fat man in person, the sense of familiarity grew even stronger.
However, no character card information popped up in the panel.
Isn't he an important character?
In the Peace Ambassador system, character cards typically only appear for certain relatively important roles. Jimmy, in the co-pilot's seat, turned and asked, "What do we do now?"
Luca took out a silencer and calmly attached it to the barrel. "You guys keep watch downstairs, I'll handle the rest."
Henry was shocked. "Are you going up alone? There are so many of them!"
"So what if there are a lot of people?" Luca smiled slightly. "Harmony is the most important thing in everything. Only with harmony can we make money. I believe Mr. Jones won't do anything to me."
Henry: "."
Peace is paramount? Dude, why are you installing a muffler so skillfully?
Jimmy is an extremely adventurous and daring person; otherwise, he wouldn't have tried to rob an airport. Eager to build a good relationship with Luca, he offered, "I'll go with you; I can help you."
You're such a weakling, you might be good at bullying ordinary people, but Luca doesn't want you to die. At least until you learn the skills, Jimmy and Henry can't die.
“No need, you’ll only get in the way.” Luca calmly shook his head. “You two just need to keep watch for me. If the police come, remember to call me.”
After saying that, Luca put on a pair of sunglasses to block out the light, concealed his gun and dagger on his person, got out of the car, and quickly disappeared from their sight.
Henry swallowed hard, then asked worriedly, "Jimmy, will Luca be alright?"
I finally found a great partner, I hope he doesn't break up with me after only a few days of knowing me.
Jimmy shook his head: "With Luca's abilities, it shouldn't be possible. I've inquired, do you know his reputation in the underworld?"
"Peace Ambassador?"
“…” Jimmy’s lips twitched, speechless. “I was talking about before he became a peace ambassador. He used to be an assassin, nicknamed The Butcher. Many people know him.”
After half an hour.
At the entrance to the hotel suite, corpses lay strewn everywhere; all the gunmen were dead.
Luca stood next to Kahn, holding a gun to his temple in one hand and taking out his phone with the other, dialing his boss's number.
Kahn raised his hands, not daring to move. "Dude, calm down, okay? There's a box of drugs in the room, uncontaminated, very pure! Let me go, and it's all yours."
Luca said gently, "Mr. Jones, you were the one who struck first. I already said I was just here to deliver a message. Why can't we sit down and talk? Why do we have to fight? Can't we just try to make peace?"
Kahn was about to curse. You killed so many of my people and now you want peace? Can you at least put your gun down first?
"Who sent you?" Kahn asked.
Just then, the call connected.
Luca held the phone to Kahn's ear. "You talk to him yourself."
"Hello?" Kahn looked puzzled.
“I am Marigio, do you remember me?” Marigio trusted Luca’s abilities completely and said slowly, “Didn’t I warn you to leave New York? I see you’re back.”
Was it this Lucchese who was so intimidating? Kahn immediately remembered and quickly explained, "No, no, no, I just happened to be passing through New York today."
"Really? Does that mean today is your last day here? And I'll never see your damn fat pig face again in New York?"
"Yes, it is."
Kahn felt the cold touch on his temples and quickly agreed.
Marigio was uneasy, but he couldn't kill Kahn, because Kahn was also a member of the family, albeit as the head of a family in another city.
Above each family is a committee that has established a series of troublesome rules to maintain peace. In short, killing some insignificant peripheral members is fine, but killing the leader, Kahn, will cause a lot of trouble.
At that point, it won't be a fight between the two leaders, but a conflict between families.
“Luca,” Marigio instructed Luca, “take all his goods, teach him a lesson, make him understand the consequences of trespassing in New York, then let him go!”
Luca stared at the corpses on the ground, then felt Kahn's trembling body, and gave him a friendly smile.
He hung up the phone and asked with a smile, "Did you hear what Margio said clearly, Mr. Jones? How about we make peace?"
"Peace is paramount! Peace is paramount!" Kahn immediately declared. "I promise I will never set foot in New York again!"
"I hope you keep your word. I hate pointless conflicts." Luca put down his pistol, waved, and turned to leave.
Kahn turned around and found that Luca had disappeared. He rushed into the room and searched everywhere, but the box of drugs had vanished.
"Fake!"
Kahn, in a fit of impotent rage, kicked over the table.
But the thought of Luca's elusive figure filled him with intense fear.
Forget it, I'll never come to New York again.
You killed nine ruthless drug dealers, instilling fear in their leader so that he dared not dump drugs into New York anymore. You defended the peace of New York.
[Gain Skill Points x15]
[Gained 5 Skill Fragments]
Luca put all his skill points into gun mastery.
[Firearms Proficiency: LV5 (72/100)]
"I have 23 ability fragments now, enough to exchange for a skill."
Luca smiled with satisfaction. Once he raised those two guys' favorability to "friend" or higher, he could exchange for the hidden ability.
Luca carried his suitcase down to the second floor along the fire escape, just as his phone vibrated.
"Luca!" Jimmy's anxious voice came through the phone, "The DEA is here! You need to get out of here right now!"
"???"
Narcotics Control Bureau?
Luca quickly went to the corridor and looked down through the second-floor window. He saw several police cars parked downstairs. A man with blond hair, wearing a gray suit and wired headphones got out of one of the cars.
The panel popped up.
Character Card Discovered: Stansfield (Unlocked)
Stan: S
[Source: Léon: The Professional]
[Skills: Beethoven's Madness, Wolf's Scent]
[Bond: Strangers]
Luca's expression changed slightly.
Is this killer not cold-blooded?!
Shit! It's that damn perverted cop?!
