Can Chapter 31 be discounted?
Two days later.
Stratton executives all attended the funeral—the deceased was "Robbie," who died in a religious case.
Standing before the tombstone, Jordan silently opened a bag of flour and scattered it on the grave like snowflakes.
The black-and-white photo on the tombstone shows him smiling broadly.
"Dude, I hope you're having a blast in heaven."
After saying that, Jordan sighed sadly.
This is the second high-ranking company executive to be murdered.
The first one was shot dead while walking down Wall Street; the second died an even more gruesome death, his throat slit and he bled to death.
Jordan gets chills whenever he thinks about it.
He even suspected Luca at one point, since Luca was a mainland hotel hitman and certainly had the ability to do it. But the previous two cases had both resulted in the arrest of the corresponding perpetrators, and Luca had no connection to them.
Jordan was a bit confused.
The main problem is that Luca doesn't understand where he got so many company secrets. Did his deceased brother leak them?
Damn, Jordan suddenly had an urge to kick over the tombstone.
After paying his respects, Jordan turned and walked out of the crowd. Luca, dressed in a black suit, passed by him, came to the grave, and politely placed a bouquet of flowers there.
He came to see the dead rare card.
What a mess! A rare card kills another rare card, and both cards are gone. The worst part is that the killer and the victim weren't even in the same storyline. What was the point of all this?
This also made Luca realize that in this chaotic world, there could be some strange "connections" between each character.
Outside the crowd.
When he saw that disgusting, stinky face, Jordan cursed "Fuck you" countless times in his mind. If it weren't for his good friend's funeral, he really would have wanted to swear right then and there.
The FBI is here.
“Denham, listen, today is the funeral of my best brother. Please respect the dead and watch your behavior. I don’t want to be here to endure your damn pointless investigation!”
Facing Jordan's tirade of "fucks" and spittle flying everywhere, the FBI agent named Denham calmly said:
“I don’t have the time to investigate you every day. I’m here for Robbie’s funeral. I’ve investigated him so many times, I’m practically an old acquaintance of his. I’m so sorry that he’s left us like this.”
"Oh? You can even summon spirits? Tear Robbie's soul down from heaven and tell him that heaven is under the jurisdiction of the FBI, and that you, Robbie, are a suspect under investigation. You can't go to heaven to enjoy a damn angel massage until you're cleared of suspicion."
Jordan's words were like poison, drawing laughter from several company employees nearby. Agent Denham chuckled twice, then his expression suddenly turned serious.
"Heaven is not under the jurisdiction of the FBI, but if you want to go to hell, the FBI can help you cut in line."
Denham turned and walked through the crowd to look at Luca, who was paying his respects at the tombstone.
Luca the pigeon, a kind-hearted citizen.
As an FBI agent, Denham knew better than anyone else present just how dangerous Luca was.
If Night Demon's danger level is 5 stars, then Luca's danger level is at least 4 stars.
Moreover, this guy is even better at disguising himself than Night Demon; he actually managed to convince so many people in Little Italy that he is a peace-loving person.
Fuck it, Denham doesn't believe it.
The idea that the Mafia loves peace is as ridiculous as Jordan helping clients pick quality stocks to make money, the DEA cracking down on and destroying drugs, or the US never initiating wars.
Denham felt that such a seemingly peaceful but secretly ruthless person was infinitely more dangerous than a financial fraudster like Jordan.
Seemingly sensing that someone was watching him, Luca turned his head and met Denham's gaze.

Luca looked slightly surprised. This guy came to the funeral too?
He knew very well that Denham was the FBI agent who captured Jordan in the original storyline, and that he had refused Jordan's bribes from the beginning, only wanting to bring him to justice.
This guy was too honest. Jordan mocked him for commuting by subway his whole life, but he remained unmoved and refused bribes.
He's too honest and upright.
Luca gave him a friendly smile from afar.
Denham was taken aback, and inexplicably felt a sense of familiarity.
It's strange.
The next few days were calm.
Steve's shoe company has not experienced any unusual situations for the time being.
Donnie, the second-in-command, subtly approached Steve to probe his intentions—he and Steve were high school classmates and friends for many years, making it subconsciously difficult for him to believe that Steve would betray him.
But what do high school classmates matter when it comes to personal gain? Even your bedmate can betray you at any time.
So, following Luca's advice, he and Jordan planned to lure the enemy out. "Steve, Donnie and I will be going abroad to lay low for a while and won't be back in the country for a while."
Inside the office, Jordan earnestly told Steve about his upcoming plans, "You know, the FBI is investigating us. Those bastards are like mosquitoes, buzzing around you all day long. When you relax, they'll seize the opportunity to swarm and suck your blood! Fuck the FBI, I've had enough!"
Downey chimed in with his own complaints, then added a comforting remark to Steve, who was grinning sheepishly: "Don't worry about the company. Even though we're overseas, we can manage it remotely."
"Won't the FBI trace this back to me?" Steve asked worriedly.
Jordan didn't care at all: "Oh man, you're just a women's shoe seller. The FBI isn't interested in your ugly shoes, and their wives won't appreciate your art. Just focus on selling shoes, and they won't do anything to you."
Steve smiled meekly, but his eyes darted around as he began to plot something.
There is no loyalty on Wall Street; it's full of wolves.
Whoever reveals a weakness will be devoured.
Jordan and Donnie just disappeared abruptly, claiming they were on vacation, and the company's ordinary employees had no idea where the two bosses had gone.
The company's daily operations are handled by a few managers.
The employees were used to it; wasn't it normal for the boss not to come to the company? As long as they, the beasts of burden, came, that was enough.
At this moment, inside the SSR Club in the Bronx.
Jordan, accompanied by Luca, is touring the club that has already been acquired.
This place is currently undergoing renovation and reconstruction.
The entire club occupies a small building, with an architectural style similar to a resort hotel, and even the internal facilities and functions are almost identical, such as bars, restaurants, guest rooms, cigar rooms, conference rooms, underground nightclubs, and so on.
“Belford, you’ve been to many clubs, what do you think of this one?” Luca asked casually. “I’ve already bought it and plan to open a new club here. You should be able to give me some advice.”
"Not good at all." Jordan's expression was disdainful, clearly looking down on the club. "All the members have left, and the club has no brand value whatsoever; it's just an empty shell. You expect to make money from this? Don't even dream about it."
Jordan's so-called "trip" was actually hiding in Little Italy, where the FBI would undoubtedly face many more difficulties in carrying out its work.
He also figured out that Luca was not only an assassin at the Continental Hotel, but also a full member of the Lucchese family.
The Luches family is not a force that a small investment bank like his can contend with.
“I don’t need those previous members, and I plan to change the signboard again,” Luca said.
"So what's your target customer group?" Jordan asked curiously. "The middle class? Or the upper-class wealthy and political families?"
“Wealth is not the only criterion. What I value is ability, not just how much ability my clients have now, but also their potential.”
Luca changed the subject, looking at Jordan and saying, "Belford, are you interested in becoming a member of the SSR Club?"
"SSR?"
“It means extremely rare,” Luca said with a smile. “Our club aims to help clients solve problems they cannot solve on their own, maintain peace in the community, and create an environment where harmony is valued. For example, if you are currently under investigation by the FBI, the SSR Club can help you resolve it.”
"Can all problems be solved?"
"As long as you can afford the price and offer enough value in exchange, even if the Americas sink, I can still get you onto Noah's Ark."
"Wow~~~ That sounds pretty good. It's similar to those politicians' tactics, a quid pro quo?"
Jordan seemed thoughtful. Although he still didn't quite trust Luca, he felt that the Lucchese family should have the capability, considering that New York's real estate market was now almost entirely controlled by the major Mafia families.
"But your fees are too high," Jordan complained. "500 million! Just for one favor! Bastards! The high-end clubs I know don't charge this much!"
Luca chuckled. "You're rich, and you swindle money from others. If I don't swindle you, who else will I swindle?"
He extended his hand in a friendly manner, saying, "This is only our first collaboration. What I need more is your friendship and trust. Once we become friends, I can help you even without charging you money."
Jordan, who is obsessed with money, obviously didn't believe Luka's nonsense, but he still shook Luka's hand and said, "I'd love to be friends with you, so, how about a discount this time?"
Luca: "Of course."
Jordan smiled.
Luca: "But 500 million is already a discounted price."
Jordan: "."
Fuck those shady merchants!
Luca pulled out an envelope and handed it to him. "Believe me, this 500 million is absolutely worth more than its price."
Jordan took it. "What's this?"
Luca: "Steve's dirt on Shoes, some stuff you might need later. Watch out for this guy. You Wall Street folks should understand better than anyone else that only profit is eternal."
"Dirty stuff?" Jordan raised an eyebrow. While this stuff couldn't prove Steve would betray them, it could give him leverage over the guy, increasing his bargaining power and providing more security.
After sending Jordan away, Luca called Jimmy over and allocated some funds to him, saying, "Go and keep an eye on Steve Shoes. I have inside information that their company is going to have a major crisis and their stock will plummet. Find an opportunity to short them."
Jimmy was shocked. "Holy crap, you even know this kind of inside information?"
As expected of an old pigeon!
