Chapter 98 Komora
Underground lounge.
Luca and Winston chatted for a long time, but they couldn't get any useful information out of him.
Your mouth is really sealed tight!
The Night Demon asked, and he'd tell you anything; but the Peace Ambassador asked, and he wouldn't!
Winston truly treated Nightmare like a son.
“Butcher… no, Pigeon,” Winston chuckled. “Sorry, I haven’t gotten used to your new nickname yet. You’ve rarely come to the hotel for drinks since you changed your nickname.”
Luca swirled the wine in his glass, then took out an Oreo and ate it. "I learned all this from you guys. Isn't the motto of the Continental Hotel to defend peace? I not only defend peace, but I also run a club where killing is also prohibited!"
Otherwise, if the bugs cheated, they might have been killed by El directly, as that one-eyed woman has a bad temper.
Winston chuckled. "So, Mr. Peace Ambassador, you're planning to seek justice for the Colombo family this time?"
"I wish for peace in New York."
"."
Winston was slightly taken aback; Luca's serious expression made it difficult for him to discern whether the other man was telling the truth or not.
Can this be believed?
The number of hotel bounties the butcher has fulfilled is recorded inside the hotel, clearly written in black and white. This is the kind of thing an executioner would say.
Winston thought it was a bit of a joke, but upon closer examination, it wasn't entirely false.
He smiled faintly: "Tell me your thoughts on how to achieve peace in this Colombo family civil war. I'm all ears."
Joe Gallo's death will bring peace.
Luca didn't say this directly; people from the Colombo faction could say it, but as an outsider, he shouldn't gossip.
He was more interested in figuring out the intentions of the instigator behind the scenes—why not just kill Gallo directly, but instead escalate the situation further into a full-scale war between the two factions, crippling half of the Colombo family.
Luca had a vague idea of the reasons, but he wasn't sure, so it wasn't convenient for him to interfere in other people's family affairs at the moment.
“I’m not sure either.” Luca put down his glass and sighed softly. “That’s why I came to ask you for some advice. You gave me a lot of suggestions when I was doing bounty missions before.”
“I’m not really into meddling in other people’s family matters,” Winston said with a smile, “but I can give you a hint.”
"Please say."
"Italy, Camorra."
Luca's pupils contracted immediately.
Damn it, those damn Italian idiots!
The Camorra, the only native Italian Mafia family, holds one of the top 12 seats at the High Table.
The original storyline also saw internal strife within the Camorra organization, with the death of its leader and the organization splitting into two factions.
One is the older sister's faction, and the other is the younger brother's faction.
The elder sister inherited the position of head of the family.
In the original storyline, Nightmare helped her brother kill their sister and seize a seat at the High Table. That scoundrel brother, however, harbored enormous ambitions for New York and wanted to take over the city.
"Fuck you!"
Luca left the Continental Hotel cursing under his breath. Standing at the door waiting for his car, he really wanted to give his good Italian friend the middle finger.
"What a bastard! First, he used Night Demon to wipe out all of Tarasov's enemies, and he might have even destroyed the five major families. Then he sent Night Demon to kill his sister and seize power. This is a really clever scheme."
But this time…
Luca couldn't figure out whether it was his brother's idea or the idea of the entire Camorra organization.
My sister has no interest in New York; it's that jerk of a brother of hers who loves to cause trouble.
And what about the current leader of the Camorra? He's not dead yet.
In fact, the Camorra organization fought the American Mafia in New York in the early 20th century, but lost. That was during the Prohibition era, which was too long ago.
"The Camorra intervened in the Colombo family's civil war."
Luca frowned. "What exactly are those Italians trying to do? Are they just targeting Colombo, or are they trying to escalate the situation further?"
This isn't even at the point in the original storyline yet; Night Demon hasn't even planned to get married.
Luca needs to prepare several contingency plans.
Hotel basement lounge.
Winston put down his glass and picked up the phone. "Mr. Gambino, a little boy just came over. I think you should recognize him. He used to be called Butcher, now he's called Luca the Pigeon."
Gambino: "What interesting thing happened? Tell us about it."
Winston briefly recounted his conversation with Luca, saying, "Besides you, he was the first Mafia member to contact me for information."
Gambino: "He is indeed a very thoughtful young man."
Winston: "You think he's pretty good? He's changed a lot; he's not the butcher I used to know."
Gambino: "These days, there aren't many young people in the Mafia who can stand on their own."
Winston seemed lost in thought.
Gambino: "His SSR club is more comfortable than your hotel. I recommend you check it out."
Winston: "I'll visit sometime if I get the chance."
[Bond: Familiarity]
After hanging up the phone, Winston looked up at the lounge entrance, where a bald, burly man walked in.
Winston raised his eyebrows in surprise: "Global Engineering Group also advertised the Colombo family's products?"
Jimmy picked up Luca in his car.
"Old Pigeon, back to the club?"
Luca glanced at the time. "Never mind, it's getting late. Let's go straight back to Central Park."
The car drove away from the hotel. As they passed through the South Side of Manhattan, Luca noticed the Bowery Street street sign and glanced at it curiously a couple more times.
King of Boley Street.
To be honest, Luca really wanted to ask him for advice on raising pigeons.
This is the perfect pet for a peace ambassador.
When Luca arrived at Central Park and returned home, Matilda, unsurprisingly, was watching television in the living room.
"Luca, come watch this stand-up comedy show with me, it's hilarious!"
Sitting down next to Matilda, Luca completely relaxed, and the tension in his mind eased a little.
The sound of a little kid laughing reached her ears. Matilda put her arm around Luca's, pointed at the TV, and shared some stand-up comedy jokes she had missed earlier.
But Luca seemed a little distracted.
They were originally planning to sit back and watch the tigers fight, but unexpectedly a powerful lion appeared. Others might not understand what Camorra was up to, but Luca certainly did.
Participating in the Colombo civil war was very likely the first step in the Camorra's plan.
To install a puppet boss who obeys Camorra? As the first step in invading New York?
Or do they want to add fuel to the fire and spread the conflict to other families in New York?
Could Russians be involved?
Whatever they want to do, Luca will sabotage their actions and prevent them from achieving their goals.
There is no doubt that whether New York falls into the hands of the Tarasov Gang or the Camorra organization, it is not the outcome Luca wants to see.
Must be stopped!
Beyond the behind-the-scenes maneuvering, this will translate into a real-world battle between assassins.
A Philadelphia painter, a New York night owl, a Mafia hitman, Luca and his powerful rare cards, and other hitmen scattered throughout New York or coming from elsewhere, all interested in the bounty.
There are way too many killers in this world.
Matilda suddenly shook Luca's arm: "Luca, my birthday is next month. Can I make a wish for a birthday present in advance?"
“Tell me your wish.”
"I need a handgun."
"."
Luca wore a serene smile, almost forgetting that there was a little assassin sitting next to him, who possessed a natural talent for quickly learning assassin skills.
"Okay, I'll buy you a Star Wars-themed laser toy gun."
"I don't want toys, I want real guns!"
Matilda jumped up, thrashed around on the sofa, and frantically grabbed Luca's head, yelling at him.
"Haha, let's talk about it when you get all A's on your final exams."
"Luca, you're so annoying."
Matilda suddenly quieted down, leaned on his shoulder, and muttered softly, "Sister El promised to give me a dagger."
Luca: "."
You're farming bonds faster than I am, aren't you?
Luca quickly changed the subject. "Isn't the day after tomorrow the weekend? I'm going to Jersey City to officially take office as the union president. How about we come along? I'll take you out for a bit of fun, okay?"
Fitz's appointment has been handed over to the local union. Procedurally, Luca is already the new president of the Jersey City 560 union, but he has been staying in New York these past few days and has not yet gone to take over.
We need to go through a formal process to take over.
While you're at it, meet up with the painter Frank, brush up your bond, and learn some skills.
After much persuasion, it was finally confirmed that the painter was the killer who killed Joe Gallo in the original storyline, and Luca had to get involved.
The painter is the core, key, and rare card in the original storyline; his storyline is intertwined with the entire plot. Who knows, in the end, the Colombo civil war might still hinge on this unassuming Irish old man.
"Jersey City? Is it fun there?" Matilda asked curiously.
"That sounds like fun. I'll have Brian teach you how to drive a truck later."
“That sounds pretty good,” Matilda laughed. “Let’s go together for a weekend picnic!”
Jersey City is right next to New York City, less than an hour's drive from Manhattan, but it belongs to the state of New Jersey.
On Saturday morning, Luca and his group headed straight to Jersey City.
This time, there were quite a few people, and they brought several cars. In addition to Luca and Matilda, there were Jimmy and Brian, as well as several members of the family. Luca wanted to put more people in the union so that when he was not available to come to the union, someone could handle some of the union's trivial matters for him.
Luca had also secretly arranged for some people to do the same.
Throughout the journey, Luca was on the phone, contacting various parties.
Marigio relayed the latest news to Luca: "Joe Gallo and Joseph Iaco have both gone into hiding. With bounties on their heads, they're hiding faster than anyone else."
The leaders of both factions had gone into hiding. Luca found it amusing, "Even a madman like Gallo has moments of fear. Has this civil war worn down his temper?"
"He was being watched by a group of assassins. If he showed his face, he would die. What could he do but hide? But he was still remotely controlling his assassins to murder people from the Colombo faction."
Marigio shrugged: "Iaco hasn't been idle either. He came to see me and Victor before, and he wants us to support him on the committee."
"Seek peace?"
“No, it was merely to support his execution of the Gallo faction and issue a formal execution order.” Marigio shook his head. “But there were dissenting voices on the committee, citing reasons such as family matters and official surveillance, which rejected his proposal.”
Luca scoffed.
Is this the committee's peace code? Gallo killed the big boss, yet the committee didn't issue an execution order, instead tacitly condoning the infighting within the Colombo family.
Ultimately, rules are all made by people, which means that some people can bypass, violate, or trample on them!
Looking out the car window at the gradually opening scenery, Luca said, "Someone wants to completely throw the Colombo family into chaos."
Margio: "Victor has already said that we should wait and see. By the way, have you arrived in Jersey City yet? Be careful this time. Jersey City used to be Pro's territory. Although he is dead, he still has many men around, and some of them have deep ties with the union."
“I know what I’m doing,” Luca said with a smile. “I’m sure the truck drivers there will welcome me because I can bring them wealth.”
If it's not welcome, then it must become an action to defend peace.
