You have truly caused me great suffering!

Chapter 221 Morale, Popularity, and Momentum

Han Shizhong has always been at the forefront of battles, and even now, as a regional commander, he still maintains this habit.

You can't judge whether it's right or wrong. Logically speaking, if someone were to die accidentally, the sin would be immense.

However, Li Shimin would often ride three or five horses in front of the enemy lines, and more than a dozen of his horses were shot to death. Each time, he would boost morale and win with fewer troops.

Can you say that Li Shimin was incapable of fighting?

Or did he not know how important the safety of the head coach was, and what terrible consequences it would have on his side if he were to die?
None of those, only self-confidence.

They've been through a lot; they know the power of your arrows, they know the strength of their armor, and they know they can defeat the pursuers.

Outsiders may see them walking on the edge of danger, but in reality, they are truly skilled and daring, and are not afraid at all.

Han Shizhong was once a lowly soldier, without any armor, yet he dared to charge into battle, be the first to scale the walls, slay generals, and seize flags.

Now that I'm wearing the finest armor and surrounded by my personal guards, what is there to fear?

He took the lead, inspiring his soldiers to follow. Dozens of arrows came flying at them, all fired from the ox-horn bows commonly used by the nomadic tribes of the grasslands, with excellent accuracy.

Both sides had nomadic tribes from the grasslands, with Han Shizhong having more under his command.

Wanyan Xiyin's mixed-race tribes were captured from the grasslands when he was pursuing Yelü Yanxi.

Han Shizhong's mixed Hu (non-Han Chinese) troops were originally Yin Shuke's subordinates. After Yin Shuke was convicted, he lost his own Jurchen warriors and led these mixed Hu troops to defeat Yelü Yanxi's last Liao army.

Then the original troops were restored. Before these miscellaneous barbarians who had made great contributions could even celebrate, they were sold to Chen Shao by Wanyan Balisu, the younger brother of Yinshuke.

These people, along with the Jurchen and Khitan people persecuted by the Wanyan clan, formed a battalion of soldiers and then killed Yin Shuke outside Datong.

The nomadic tribes on the grasslands lived a very hard life, a true survival of the fittest. Males were born at the age of six or seven and were already riding foals and playing with soft bows and bone arrows.

In any war between tribes, the most important method of fighting was archery on horseback or shooting from foot; in short, they mainly relied on bows and arrows.

Although the Hu people were skilled archers, this rain of arrows was no match for the well-trained and battle-hardened Helan Mountain troops!

The main force of the Helan Mountain Corps was actually the elite Jingyuan Army from the original Western Army. They were forced into battle by Tong Guan, and after their defeat, they scattered and were gathered by Chen Shao in Hengshan, becoming his base.

For over a century, the Song army had relied on bows and crossbows to survive. Once they were in formation, neither the Khitan elite cavalry nor the Western Xia iron hawks dared to charge.

The Western Army, in particular, made great use of this skill.

The powerful bows and crossbows of the Song Dynasty were not just for show. If the bows were not strong enough, they could not penetrate armor beyond a certain range, forcing the enemy cavalry to stay away.

The foot bows used by qualified soldiers in the Song Dynasty had a draw weight of at least 1.5 shi (a unit of weight), and the crossbows they used had an even greater draw weight.

Because the bow is so powerful, the number of times it can be fired in a major battle is limited.

If you force yourself to shoot more, you will injure your muscles and bones.

The three kingdoms of Song, Liao, and Xia have been locked in a protracted war for many years. Neither the Khitan nor the Western Xia were typical barbarian states; rather, they were the kind that knew how to learn.

They also learned from the strengths of the Song army and worked hard to develop crossbows. These things were very useful; they could kill from a distance, so who would want to get close?

As the fighting continued, the crossbows of the three kingdoms became increasingly powerful. After decades of shooting, the Song army finally had to contend with the overwhelming barrage of arrows.

Thus, the three kingdoms of Song, Liao, and Xia all evolved extremely strong anti-shooting capabilities.
The nomadic tribes on the steppes of the Jurchen Tartars, though their arrows were fast and accurate.

However, one of their biggest weaknesses is their poor equipment! Their most relied-upon horn bows are also too weak!
The Jurchens have always only equipped themselves, treating their auxiliary troops as less than human.

Historically, these nomadic tribes from the steppes were at the very bottom of society, not even considered human. Whether it was the Khitan or the Jurchen, the rulers of the steppes regularly conducted massacres to reduce the population and restricted the inflow of iron weapons as a fundamental national policy to suppress these nomadic tribes.

It wasn't until after the Xiao Sa Ba Rebellion that this control loosened considerably, and a large number of outstanding individuals emerged from the various nomadic tribes of the grasslands, eventually leading to the most savage and glorious period of the Golden Family.

Faced with the sudden barrage of arrows fired from these weakened bows, they were caught off guard.

The soldiers at the forefront of the Dingnan Army immediately raised their iron arms to protect their faces, and those carrying small shields also raised them for protection.

The arrow struck the iron arm, clanging and clattering as it flew sideways. It landed on the small shield with a dull thud, piercing only the leather-covered surface before sinking shallowly into the wooden body.

As for the arrows that struck the breastplates and helmets, they fared no better. Sparks flew from all over the armored soldiers of the Helan Mountain Corps, and the arrows, unable to pierce the armor, fell to the ground.

Even so, it was only because Wanyan Xiyin had few soldiers that they were specially given additional supplies, which is why they used iron arrowheads and feathered arrows for the first time ever.

If it were a bone arrow, a weapon commonly used by nomadic tribes on the grasslands, it probably wouldn't even produce a spark!
Han Shizhong's side did not have this kind of differential treatment. Apart from the differences in armor due to different troop types, the bows and arrows of each camp were roughly the same.

When Han Shizhong led his men to charge into the enemy lines, the various tribes, including the Hu, Jurchen, and Khitan, were frantically firing arrows to provide cover.

Ultimately, it was because their own forces were too small. The Jurchens would never give the powerful bows and crossbows they had captured from the Liao people to these nomadic tribes of the steppe.

Even if Wanyan Xiyin were to fire the arrows at this moment, how could these barbarian tribes, who were accustomed to using soft bows, be able to use them immediately in such a short time?
This is not a matter of strength, but rather a matter of changing the entire habit of using a bow and arrow.

The powerful crossbows captured from the Song army in Yanshan Prefecture were practically high-tech to the various nomadic tribes.

There are proper methods for applying force when winding a rope; otherwise, no matter how much force you use, you might end up spraining your muscles and bones.

Furthermore, the launch speed was too slow, which was not to the liking of the various tribes at this time.

The difference in the archery cover on both sides was astonishing, but the Jurchen Tartars also had extremely strong defensive capabilities.

When Zhe Yanye arrived with his troops, the main infantry forces of both sides were about to engage in battle. He shouted loudly from his horse, "Form ranks! Form ranks!"

The armored soldiers who had galloped up on horseback immediately rallied and formed a battle formation.

The ten officers and generals all went to see the banners at Zhe Yanye's place.

I don't know what their plans are at this moment, whether they should charge straight into Yinchengfang or intercept and kill the Tartar reinforcements.

As for Han Shizhong, they had already engaged in close combat, so it was impossible for him to give orders.

The more qualified a military commander is, the more composed he must be at this time.

Zhe Yanye secretly reminded himself that he could neither rush headlong into the enemy nor retreat rashly. He had to observe the enemy's military situation in order to make a quick judgment and come up with a countermeasure!

At this moment, countless Khitan vassal soldiers swarmed out of the valley.

In this terrain, no one can see where the enemy is or where they came from.

In an instant, it was like a torrent of water rushing down. Some of the miscellaneous barbarians were hiding in places only a hundred paces away from Zhe Yanye and his group who had just arrived. In a short time, they were about to crash into them!
This is destined to be a chaotic battle.

Although Zhe Yanye was young, he was one of the best among the younger generation of the Zhe family. He slapped the captain in charge and said, "You and your men, stand still!"

Then he roared, grabbed his shield with his left hand and his sword with his right, dismounted and charged straight out into the valley where the enemy was surging.

His men shouted joyfully and followed Zhe Yanye. This group of men went straight to meet the large group of Khitan soldiers who rushed out of the valley, in order to cover Han Shizhong.

The captain was taken aback, but seeing that his superior had already charged out, he curled his lip and raised his hand to order, "Draw the bows!"

The assembled Dingnan Army soldiers immediately formed a square formation to face the enemy from three sides.

The soldiers carrying bows immediately took them off, nocked their arrows, and aimed steadily at the Khitan servants who were charging at them like ferocious beasts.

The remaining armored soldiers, holding shields and wielding swords, provided cover on the sides.

The constable swung his hand and chopped forcefully: "Shoot! Shoot these cowards who are working for our enemy to death!"

Dozens of arrows flew out of the bowstrings, covering a distance of seventy or eighty paces, and disappeared into the chaotic ranks of the barbarian troops.

Blood immediately splattered, and amidst the deafening shouts of the Khitan auxiliary troops, screams of agony rang out!
Every arrow that struck these auxiliary soldiers tore through their armor and pierced their bodies with a satisfying thud.

The triangular, armor-piercing arrowhead tears through skin, blood vessels, and internal organs; with each tremor of the fletching, the wound widens.

The wound inflicted by the three-edged arrow was so open that air could escape, and blood gushed out!

Moreover, even with modern medical techniques, this kind of wound is difficult to suture!

More than ten Khitan servants were struck as if by lightning and tumbled down the mountain path. Black blood gushed out like spilled water. They could only writhe on the ground, screaming and struggling for their lives.

This single blow sent a shiver down through the hearts of the desperately surging Khitan soldiers.

They were surrendered Liao soldiers transferred from Yanshan Prefecture to help Wanyan Xiyin guard the border. Since surrendering to the Jin, they had been advancing smoothly, and the Song troops in Yanshan Prefecture either collapsed at the mere sight of them or were caught completely unprepared.

This made the Khitan soldiers take the Song Dynasty's army for granted, and they only regretted not knowing earlier so they could have come and plundered dozens of times.

But when they actually ran into the Dingnan Army, they realized how formidable they were!
Although the Khitan soldiers continued to surge forward due to inertia, the few Khitan generals in charge knew that they would not be able to break through these Western barbarian troops unless they risked hundreds of lives.

However, they still held onto a glimmer of hope, wishing that these troops, like the Song army in Yanshan Prefecture, would be unable to withstand the onslaught in face-to-face combat.

This was definitely a consequence of poor communication; anyone who knew about the internal conflict in Yun would not have held onto such hope.

It can only be said that the Khitans lived in a daze in the Jin Dynasty. They were used to seeing the Song soldiers flee at the first sign of trouble, and thought they were all the same. If they were really facing each other to see who would live and who would die, wouldn't they be so scared that they would turn around and run away?
They were in Yanshan Prefecture, practically kept in captivity, their perspective still stuck on the time when Tong Guan attacked Liao.

Unbeknownst to them, this army, which their masters called the Western Barbarians, had already earned the Jurchens' serious attention.

Zhe Yanye originally wanted to command the brave soldiers to charge forward, but then he thought that since Commander Han had already charged forward himself, what was there for him to be afraid of!
So he shouted and led his men to charge forward.

Despite being vastly outnumbered, none of the Dingnan Army soldiers were afraid. Moreover, they were all clad in iron armor and could not outrun the Khitan soldiers who were only wearing leather armor or even just a leather robe.

If our own brothers had come to our aid later, the formation might have been thrown into disarray.

It would be better to establish a firm foothold here and fight these Tartars to the death.

Even if it's unfortunate, it can still slow down these people and allow others to rush up to Yinchengfang.

If we can firmly hold onto Yinchengfang, we don't know how many battles we'll have to fight, how many fortresses we'll have to plunder, or how many brothers we'll have to die.

His men roared and brandished their weapons, advancing instead of retreating!

Zhe Yanye was somewhat moved. The Dingnan Army had achieved such a reputation in such a short time, which was no accident.

Even the Fugu Zhe family army, known for its fighting spirit, did not have such morale.

Of course, in the Dingnan Army, if you, a lowly soldier, fight bravely and make meritorious contributions, you can also rise to the top and become a general.

In a family like the Zhe family, a prominent military clan, it was out of the question.

In just a few breaths, the two sides, vastly outnumbered, clashed in the mountains below Yinchengfang Village.

The Jurchen troops at the front were all menacing-looking, reeking of foul stench, with thick necks, short legs, and bowed legs. They were numerous and powerful. Although they were only coming in disorganized formation, those with slightly weaker courage would probably have their hands and feet go limp and be unable to hold their weapons.

But they were facing the Dingnan Army, the elite force that had destroyed the country, a group of people who had personally fought their way from Hengshan to Helan Mountain.

The leading armored soldiers lowered their center of gravity and bowed their heads to meet the attack. With their left hands, they raised their shields to deflect the various weapons that were thrusting, slashing, and smashing at them. Then, with a step forward, they thrust their long swords into the chest and abdomen of the Tartar in front of them.

The sharp longsword thrusts once and then retracts, then thrusts again, and thrusts once more!
Even after shedding their heavy armor, they remain a formidable force, perhaps even stronger.

With flashing swords, dozens or even hundreds of mixed barbarian Tartars overwhelmed the armored soldiers like a raging torrent.

But the blades continued to flash, rising and falling several times, penetrating several steps deeper. With each step forward, several barbarian Tartars dropped their weapons, clutching their bleeding wounds, and collapsed at the feet of these Song soldiers!
Even in close combat, you barbarians are far inferior!
The screams were deafening, and the rabble, with their eyes bloodshot and their numbers overwhelming, couldn't even take down a small squad of two hundred men.

They all huddled together desperately, their weapons flashing wildly, while the Dingnan Army soldiers, who were charging forward with their heads down, were hit countless times in a short time.

Without any support formation behind them, and surrounded by enemies, even a god could not provide complete protection.

Long swords, maces, short spears. All sorts of weapons struck their armor, instantly inflicting wounds on each soldier. Yet these Dingnan Army warriors continued to raise their shields, advance, and draw their swords!

Just then, a deafening sound of drums and horns suddenly rang out.

Reinforcements from both sides are arriving in droves from all directions.

By this time, Han Shizhong had been fighting for half a day, and the greatsword in his hand was as heavy as a mountain as he wielded it.

He was indeed incredibly brave on the battlefield. With just a large sword, he cleared a path and knocked down countless female Tartars in no time!

It should be noted that he was not facing Khitan servants or nomadic tribes from the grasslands, but genuine Tatar soldiers.

His personal guards merely raised their shields to protect their commander. Those who slipped past Han Shizhong were met with a vicious slash of their swords.

Infantry generals, unlike cavalry generals, must be tall and strong to be able to wear heavy armor and protect themselves.

Moreover, it is best to use heavy, long weapons so that you can clear a large enough circle and fight your way through!

Han Shizhong was absolutely not lacking in either of these aspects. Moreover, the personal guards around him who provided cover and support were all seasoned veterans with rich experience in battle.

This is why Hu Yantong left, and the conflict between the two brothers deepened. Before, with Hu Yantong's cooperation, Han Shizhong only needed to steel himself and charge in! At this time, Wanyan Xiyin had already realized that in a head-on infantry battle, these people were not at a disadvantage.

Looking around, they saw that Dingnan Army had even more reinforcements. If they didn't retreat, it might be too late.

Today, Yinchengfang cannot be retaken; we can only defend Wuhuiling to the death. He gritted his teeth and ordered the Jurchen soldiers to retreat.

These Jurchen Tartars were truly formidable. They left some as cannon fodder to cover the rear, while the others quickly turned back, returned to their original positions, mounted their horses, and retreated.

They left easily, leaving the auxiliary troops behind, completely unconcerned.

Beneath the Silver City Ward, the ground was littered with the corpses of various barbarian Tartars. Among them were barbarian soldiers and auxiliary soldiers who screamed and rolled around, their chests and abdomens wounded, or their tendons and bones broken by iron maces.

Han Shizhong looked at Yinchengfang and laughed heartily.

With his laughter, all the soldiers of the Dingnan Army in front of the battle line cheered in unison.

With this stronghold, we no longer need to fight our way through the countless fortresses in Weizhou. We can simply use it as a springboard to attack Wuhui Ridge!
Zhe Yanye was initially taken aback by the cheers, but then, caught up in the atmosphere, he joined in the shouting.

Their roars were meaningless; they were simply an outburst of emotion after the battle.

As Zhe Yanye shouted, he suddenly realized that this was exactly the kind of team he longed for!
Wanyan Xiyin retreated desperately, and by the time he returned to Wuhui Ridge, he was already panting heavily.

He didn't care how many Liao soldiers and non-Han peoples died, but he was extremely annoyed by the loss of Yinchengfang.

At this moment, a group of people was rushing towards them from behind Wuhui Ridge.

With the head coach accepting the flag, Guo Yaoshi's face was ashen.

Zhen Wuchen rode his horse by the roadside, directing the various camps to proceed in order and enter the Wuhuiling defense line.

Looking at the Ever Victorious Army, Zhen Wuchen was very satisfied.

After they occupied Yanshan Prefecture, they were appointed by the Jin Dynasty as the garrison commanders of Yanjing (responsible for managing the civil and military affairs of the Yanjing area) and were given gold medals as a sign of their trust.

As Zongwang marched south to invade the Song Dynasty and made outstanding military achievements, the Jin Dynasty bestowed upon him the surname Wanyan as a sign of favor.

Guo Yaoshi used his eight thousand main troops as his core force, and then recruited Han Chinese in Yanshan Prefecture to expand the Ever Victorious Army.

Now, a massive army of 50,000 has arrived to reinforce the Wuhuiling defense line.

This was actually something that Zonghan and Zongwang had discussed long ago; it was a deal between them.

Zonghan led the way, while Zongwang sent the Ever Victorious Army to help them defend Weizhou.

However, in order to ensure that Wanyan Xiyin would do his best and not slack off, he did not tell him about this matter.
-
Taiyuan Prefecture has recently seen a large influx of people.

They were all gentry and officials' families from Hebei, as well as some widows, widowers, and orphans who had no one to rely on.

Some even came from Bianliang.

Ultimately, it all comes down to the power of the Han people, and Chen Shao has always performed well, with no history of cruelty or murder.

People from all walks of life came here seeking refuge.

This southward invasion of the Jurchen Tartars inevitably brings to mind the devastation suffered by Wanyan Zongwang in the Hebei and Beijing regions during his previous invasion of the Song Dynasty.

In Chen Shao's study, Liu Jizu reported the situation to Chen Shao without any bias, simply asking for Chen Shao's opinion.

"What do you think?"

"We must make proper arrangements!" Li Tangchen said. "This is a golden opportunity. If we miss it, we may not get another chance."

"That's right, we must let the world see the strength of our Hedong and the benevolence of the Prince of Dai."

"We must not lose the hearts of the people!"

Chen Shao smiled and glanced at the several important officials from Hedong in the study, saying, "I often tell people that the reason why Hedong is good is because of its unity. Don't be fooled by the fact that Bianliang is a vast plain, but the officialdom is full of factions; while Hedong is full of mountains, the officials in the officialdom advance and retreat together, and do not form factions."

Upon hearing this, everyone thought to themselves, "We're still in the early stages, why are we forming factions?"
There are plenty of opportunities; who has the time to scheme and plot here?

Even if it's a struggle, the Hedong faction still needs to unite itself.

"Then set up soup kitchens outside the city and send more soldiers to escort them on the roads to prevent anyone from taking the opportunity to commit crimes."

"We will take in people in the major temples and Taoist temples in Taiyuan. We will not forcibly detain anyone, nor will we covet their things. We welcome those who want to avoid trouble, and those who want to leave can leave at any time."

"However, there is one condition: it must not affect our own people in Hedong, especially it must not disrupt spring planting. All those who come to avoid disaster must abide by the laws of Hedong. Those who steal or rob will be arrested, and those who kill will be beheaded."

Li Tangchen nodded; these people were actually easier to manage than he had imagined.

Because, in fact, they came from Hebei in the Song Dynasty to Hedong.

Nothing was severed between the two sides; it was just that the jurisdiction of the imperial court changed to that of the Prince of Dai.

But these officials from Hedong were right; this was a good opportunity to win people's hearts and minds.

Information is very limited nowadays, and there are virtually no channels for publicity.

With so many people flocking to Hedong and living there under their rule, what exactly is Hedong like? They will spread the word after they return home, and naturally, more and more people will come to know.

Chen Shao and the officials from Hedong were all very confident.

As they left Chen Shao's study, the officials from Hedong gathered together.

Liu Jizu suddenly said, "In the Xuanhe era, the Jurchens broke their alliance and invaded from the south. At that time, Taiyuan was in grave danger. Tong Guan, as the commander-in-chief of the three armies, dared not meet the enemy and fled with his valuables."

"At that time, everyone thought that Taiyuan was in imminent danger and that we would be slaughtered by the Tartars."

"Unexpectedly, it's their turn to flee to Taiyuan for refuge now."

The surrounding officials, all of whom had experienced that terrible time, nodded in agreement upon hearing this, their memories stirred.

Li Tangchen nodded slightly, his tone solemn, "This time we must let them see the changes in Hedong. We will host a banquet for the gentry who come, and then take them to Fenzhou to take a look."

Many of their achievements were in Fenzhou, because they really did a lot of things and achieved remarkable results.

The officials in Hedong were no longer willing to work in isolation; they were eager to show other places what was going on.

Just as the group arrived at the entrance of Chen Shao's residence, they happened to see a carriage parked there, with several scholars standing next to it.

Liu Jizu glanced at it and asked, "Could it be the Zhao brothers from Qinyang, Huai Prefecture?"

Zhao Shi'e also noticed them and quickly came forward to greet them one by one.

Those who know each other introduce themselves.

When Zhao Shi'e recounted that Qu Duan had killed Chen Sheng, the expressions on the faces of the Hedong officials immediately became quite interesting.

Li Tangchen laughed and said, "Brother Zhao, don't worry. I'll take you to see the Prince of Dai. He certainly won't stand idly by."

Liu Jizu echoed, "That's right. Even if the Prince of Dai doesn't care, we won't sit idly by and watch you all be implicated."

Upon seeing the messenger from Huaizhou and learning what had happened, Chen Shao immediately nodded and said, "I already know about this matter. Messenger, send a letter to Cai Jing and Wei Li, telling them to convict Chen Sheng."

Although Zhao Shi'e had anticipated that Chen Shao would be able to resolve the matter, he did not expect it to be so swift and efficient.

They didn't ask any questions, let alone ask for money or benefits.

In the Song Dynasty, when has anything ever gone so smoothly?

Zhao Shi'e no longer hesitated and cupped his hands, saying, "Huai Prefecture has few soldiers and generals, and I'm afraid it will be difficult to resist the Tartar invasion. I beg Your Highness Prince Dai to send troops to help us defend the city!"

Upon hearing this, Chen Shao was somewhat surprised and looked up, asking, "Is this the intention of Prefect Huo?"

"This represents the 32,000 households and 88,000 people of Huai Prefecture!"

Chen Shao laughed and said, "Since that's the case, I already know it. The troops will arrive soon."

Huaizhou has essentially joined the group.
This time, the army will inevitably enter Hebei. As long as we win, it won't be difficult to establish ourselves in Hebei.

Nowadays, there are no local forces in Hebei. Didn't you see how easily Zong Ze was able to recruit so many rebel armies?

Hebei was too strong in the previous seasons. The Song Dynasty valued civil affairs over military affairs, which weakened Hebei to a pulp.

This gave me an opportunity.

Huaizhou is a case in point; the gentry of Huaizhou have bypassed the imperial court and come directly to him for help.

Chen Shao then instructed Liu Jizu to host a banquet for the visitors from Huaizhou.

After finishing official business, I returned to my inner quarters. By then, the sun was already setting in the west, and the pavilion in the middle of the courtyard was shrouded in shadow.

Hearing from the maids that there would be a banquet that evening, Li Yumei and Liu Caiwei left the courtyard early and went to the front hall for the banquet.

It was called a banquet, but it was really just a gathering of wealthy women from Taiyuan for dinner.

This was a task assigned to her by Chen Shao, in order to get closer to the officials in Hedong.

Chen Shao also specifically mentioned that Cai Jing's family members should also be taken care of, so it is estimated that Maode and Song Shi were also invited.

Firstly, Cai Jing was indeed an important ally of his, and secondly, Song was his lover, so he wanted to help her make some friends in Taiyuan to keep her from getting bored on weekdays.

The maid asked where they were eating, and Chen Shao asked, "Has Madam eaten yet?"

"After the lady became pregnant, she got hungry very quickly and ate very early."

Chen Shao nodded, thinking of the child in Huanhuan's belly, feeling that everything was going exceptionally smoothly, and was in a good mood.

He stood up and said, "Go to the kitchen and find some food yourselves, don't worry about me."

After saying that, he walked towards Li Shishi.

Li Shishi seemed to know he would come today, so she personally cooked, and two of the dishes on the table did indeed resemble her cooking style.

She was dressed simply today, wearing a loose-fitting light gray robe that concealed her beautiful figure. Her face was clean and, for some reason, she wore no makeup.

When she returned to the table, she saw Chun Tao whispering something to her husband, and she was occasionally rolling up her sleeves.

Her foxy little face looked pitiful.

Li Shishi immediately realized that she was complaining, and laughed in annoyance.

Chun Tao was frequently beaten, but Li Shishi was always self-righteous and not afraid of Chun Tao complaining.

The eldest sister is like a mother, and everything this little girl has eaten, worn, and used since she was a child has been provided by her.

This girl has a whole host of flaws, but her good points are that she's tough and doesn't hold grudges. After a fight, instead of crying and wailing, she forgets about it immediately.
If her younger sister really had that kind of personality, Li Shishi probably wouldn't have been able to hit her, after all, they were sisters.

They might seem dismissive on ordinary days, but when something really happens, they're more anxious than anyone else.

As expected, as soon as Shishi arrived, Chen Shao took the initiative to approach her and sit close to her.

Fortunately, Chun Tao wasn't one to hold grudges. She moved her chair aside and plopped down on the other side of Chen Shao.

Li Shishi suddenly approached and whispered a few words in his ear.

Chen Shao's eyes lit up. "Really?"

Li Shishi's gaze shifted, a hint of tenderness appearing in her eyes. She smoothed her hair and nodded slightly.

"Okay! Okay!"

"What's wrong?" Chun Tao asked anxiously.

"Your sister is pregnant," Chen Shao said happily.

Upon hearing this, Chun Tao asked nervously, "When will you give birth?"

Li Shishi rolled her eyes at her and said, "It's still a long way off." (End of Chapter)
