"You haven't come to see me for 153 days."
When Snape ignored the "malfunctioning" sign and pushed open the door to the girls' washroom on the second floor, Myrtle suddenly floated out from behind the faucet.
Her pearl-colored glasses were fogged up, and she stood in the doorway, saying plaintively, "You said you'd come to see me... I've been waiting for you here..."
"Myrtle!" Snape was startled by her sudden appearance and took a half step back. "Here I am!"
As he spoke, he quickly squeezed into the washroom and slammed the door shut to avoid being discovered by passing students entering the women's restroom.
As he passed through Myrtle's body, Snape suddenly felt as if he had just jumped into a bucket of ice water, and couldn't help but shiver, his teeth chattering slightly.
“That’s not all,” Snape said, raising his hand to his mouth and breathing out a few breaths of hot air. “Would you like to move somewhere else? A better place than here. I also have some new friends I’d like to introduce you to.”
"A new place?" A glimmer of expectation flashed in Myrtle's eyes, but it quickly faded, and her expression turned somewhat dejected. "I don't want to be laughed at or driven away again."
“That place is quite secluded, trust me,” Snape said gently. “Would you like to come with me to take a look? If it’s not suitable, you can come back.”
Myrtle hesitated for a moment, then nodded gently: "Okay, I'm willing to go and take a look."
Snape told Myrtle their destination, but to everyone's surprise, Myrtle simply walked through the ceiling of the bathroom.
“I’ll be waiting for you up there, Severus.”
Snape jogged along the winding corridors toward the painting of the troll dancing ballet on the eighth floor.
When he arrived, it seemed that Myrtle had been waiting there for a long time. She was floating in the air, her body rising and falling gently.
"Nobody saw you, did they?" Snape asked.
“No,” Myrtle said. “There’s no one around here.”
“That’s good,” Snape said, taking a deep breath. Pointing to the plain-looking stone wall in front of him, “Myrtle, could you please go inside this white wall and see what’s inside?”
Myrtle looked at him suspiciously, but didn't ask any more questions. She obediently crawled through the stone wall at the entrance of the House of Wishful Thinking.
A few seconds later, she emerged again, looking puzzled: "There's nothing inside, just stones."
“Thank you, Myrtle.” Snape nodded in satisfaction. “That means that not only humans, but also ghosts cannot directly enter that place.”
"What place?" Myrtle was even more confused. "What's inside?"
"Wait a moment, you'll find out soon."
After Snape finished speaking, he approached the stone wall, tapped it three times with his knuckles, then clapped his hands together three times at a slower pace, and then tapped the wall three times quickly.
An old oak door suddenly appeared on the white wall.
With a creak, the door opened, and Pandora poked her head out: "Come in quickly."
Snape squeezed in sideways, then quickly poked his head out to greet Myrtle, "Come in quickly."
After the myrtle floated into the house, he quickly closed the door.
“You guessed right in the first step,” Snape said happily to Pandora. “When someone is in the Room of Requirement, even a ghost can’t get in.”
“Oh, by the way,” he turned to Myrtle and asked, “do you know Pandora?”
“I know her,” Myrtle whispered, circling Pandora once. “A girl who was laughed at just like me…” “This is a good place for us, isn’t it?” Myrtle exclaimed excitedly. “A place where even a Peeves couldn’t get in…”
“I don’t think he can get in, Myrtle,” Snape said. “I’ll have to trouble you to test the others later.”
Myrtle happily did a somersault, her eyes sparkling with anticipation: "I'll be living here from now on?"
“I think so.” Snape looked at Pandora, who smiled and nodded to Myrtle in agreement.
"Is there anything I can do for you?" Myrtle bowed respectfully and then chuckled happily.
“The rule here is that as long as one person is inside,” Snape said, “no one outside can open the door.”
"Now we also want to know if the same thing would happen if a ghost were in the house."
“This means,” Myrtle pushed up her glasses, a glint of light flashing in the pearl lenses, “that you all go out first and leave me in the house.”
“Clever,” Snape said approvingly, “but first, you should see if you can walk through the walls of this room from inside.”
Myrtle immediately slipped into the stone wall of the House of Response.
A little while later, she emerged, shaking her head and saying, "No, it's the same as outside, all walls that seem to stretch on forever."
“Okay,” Snape said, attaching a hook to the doorknob with a strange device at the other end. “This device can open the door when you hear a loud noise.”
"Do you remember the pattern of my knocking and clapping outside the door?" he said to Myrtle. "Three short claps, three long claps, then three short claps again. You can only open the door when you hear that sound, okay?"
Snape demonstrated the tapping pattern to Myrtle twice more, then leaned closer to the door to listen to the sounds outside before nodding to Myrtle.
Myrtle took a deep breath and suddenly let out a deafening scream.
"Stop!" Snape quickly stopped her from continuing. By then, the door had been opened a crack by Pandora's magical device, which was made primarily of erkling vocal cords. "Now that the door's open, there's no need to shout!"
He and Pandora then left the Room of Requirement, watching the entrance disappear into the wall once again.
After failing to open the Room of Requirement through conventional methods, Pandora cast an Earplugs spell on the corridors on either side, and then created sounds in a predictable pattern.
The door opened, and they went inside.
"That's great!" Snape and Pandora high-fived excitedly, their faces beaming with joy. "This place will be much safer for us from now on! Myrtle, if you want to go out for a stroll, just let me know in advance."
“Go out? No,” Myrtle said. “I like this sunny place, as long as you come here often.”
Then she chuckled again: "What a strange bunch, Moaning Myrtle, Pandora the Strange Girl, and Severus who likes to look at naked bottoms..."
"Hey!" Snape couldn't help but call out, "Weren't you always in the bathroom?"
“Sometimes I sneak out,” Myrtle smiled slyly, “and I’ve seen you too…”
