Chapter 36 Facing the Gale
Chapter 36 Facing the Gale
"Yesterday you asked me to make braised pork for Grandma and said you'd come with me. Does that still stand?"
As soon as Jiang Guier finished speaking, Lin Wan looked guilty. She took a breath and said, "It counts, how could it not count? But shouldn't you cook the dishes now? Otherwise, how are we going to get there?"
She didn't have much desire to go.
“This is no simple task.” Jiang Gui’er got right to work, opened the refrigerator, took out the meat she had bought earlier, and pointed back at Lin Wan, “You come and help.”
Lin Wan, who was forced to help, had a dark face. She never went into the kitchen and hated the smell of cooking oil the most.
"I reject."
"Then I'll tell my mom..."
"Alright, just tell me what you want to do." Under Jiang Guier's threat, Lin Wan had no choice but to give in.
When her aunt found out about some of the things she did, the word "previous" would play a significant role.
Soon, the aroma of braised pork filled the kitchen. Lin Wan, her face dark, poked at the pieces of meat in the pot with a spatula. Oil splattered onto the back of her hand, and almost instantly, she hissed.
She glanced at Jiang Guier, who was peeking at her from the side, and said irritably, "What are you looking at!"
She slammed the spatula down with a loud clanging sound, her cheeks flushed slightly from the steam.
"Lin Xiaowan, you're so beautiful! I never knew you were so amazing." Jiang Guier flattered her relentlessly.
Lin Wan, who was initially a little angry, suddenly raised her proud head, with a hint of arrogance, "What can't I do! If it weren't for helping you..."
Before she could finish speaking, Jiang Guier's phone started ringing incessantly on the kitchen counter.
The screen flashed: "Qian Xin".
"She's calling you now, it's probably some urgent job from a brand, right? I'll answer it for you." Lin Wan took the opportunity to put down the spatula and answer the phone.
Jiang Guier saw this but didn't expose her. She looked at the braised pork in the pot and slowly adjusted the heat.
Lin Wan's voice grew louder and louder.
"What! Who is it?"
"Trying to stir up trouble! There are all sorts of birds in a big forest. Okay, you deal with it first."
She hung up the phone, turned to look at Jiang Guier, curled her lips, and said with a hint of speechlessness, "Qian Xin said someone went crazy over your mess.
"Going crazy?" Jiang Guier was a little confused. "My account is a simple and clean one. It doesn't start any fights, and the fans are harmonious. What problems could it possibly cause?"
"The one who went crazy in the group last night. You see, it's a good thing I stopped you yesterday, otherwise you would have been stuck with this mad dog and wouldn't have been able to keep this ghost around."
"Something's wrong with you!" Jiang Guier was so angry she almost got splashed with oil.
Lin Wan snorted, "Don't underestimate this matter. After all, it happened 'right at your doorstep.' If things go wrong, your address could be exposed."
Lin Wan's words also worried Jiang Guier, "What you said is true, but this matter is not easy to handle."
Lin Wan was somewhat worried about this.
"Don't panic, contact the property management first. You live in a high-end community. If something bad happens, the property management company will probably lose their job."
After finishing her sentence, Lin Wan called Qian Xin again, instructing her to delete and block comments in the comment section to quell the situation.
In the internet age, many people are mindless and ignorant; they don't care about the truth, they just follow the crowd.
"What if that mad dog causes trouble..." Jiang Gui'er frowned, in a bad mood, and didn't even care about the pot that was burning. A faint caramel smell filled the air.
"Stop!"
Lin Wan interrupted Jiang Guier before she could finish speaking, "To deal with this kind of person, you have to be even more ruthless than him, then he'll be afraid." The determination in her tone was like a blazing fire, leaving no room for ambiguity. "Thank you for your hard work," Jiang Guier said obediently.
Lin Wan's decisive and ruthless actions just now were exactly like her own mother's, and she understood that it was for her own good.
She is well aware of her weaknesses: a lack of social experience, or simply put, an inability to handle complex interpersonal relationships.
If someone does it for her, she won't be ungrateful.
She washed the tomatoes, made a glass of tomato juice, added a few ice cubes, and handed it to Lin Wan, saying, "It'll help cool you down."
Lin Wan held the glass in her fingertips, her fingertips unconsciously rubbing the water droplets that had condensed on the glass wall, and the bright orange-red liquid inside swayed.
She didn't rush to drink it. Instead, she swirled the red tomato juice in the glass, watching it drip down the sides, as if examining the color of a vintage wine. She took several sips of the tomato juice with the composure and elegance of a connoisseur.
"Cough cough." Jiang Guier pretended to cough from the side.
This process is a bit jarring.
Lin Wan rolled her eyes at her, swallowed the sweet and sour tomato juice in her mouth, and looked on with a lingering expression.
"Lin Xiaowan, you're putting on an act." Jiang Guier couldn't help but complain.
"You don't understand, do you? A KOL? Maintaining your persona is the first step." Lin Wan looked at Jiang Guier with some disdain. "I remember you made some bold statements to your aunt, saying you wanted to make a name for yourself. Don't just talk the talk."
"Alright, the braised pork is ready." Jiang Guier turned off the stove, then remembered something, "I didn't take yesterday's lunchbox."
"It was intentional, wasn't it?"
"Heh." Jiang Guier sneered, "Giving it to my mom is one thing, but if my grandma saw that lunchbox, she'd probably smash it in my face."
"Heh." Lin Wan sneered at her, squatted down to the side, and rummaged under the counter, making a lot of clattering noise. After a while, she found an aluminum lunchbox and tossed it onto the table without much effort.
"I've already prepared it for you."
"Yay, all set." Jiang Guier quickly grabbed the aluminum lunchbox, as if Lin Wan would regret taking it back if she was too late.
Watching Jiang Guier wash the lunchbox, dry it carefully, scoop out half of the braised pork, and use chopsticks to pick up the other half and put it into the lunchbox piece by piece, finally drizzling it with thick amber sauce.
A perfect braised pork dish is ready.
"It's done."
Lin Wan clapped her hands, "Then... let's go?"
"Let's go." Jiang Guier found the takeout packaging bag that Lin Wan ordered yesterday, chose a relatively small bag, put the lunchbox in it, sealed it, and carried it in her hand.
Lin Wan gave her a thumbs up, her sparkling manicured nails flashing brightly, "You're so thrifty and good at managing the household, the older generation will definitely like it."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Guier beamed with delight, "That's right, I'm quite adept at pleasing elders too."
The two rushed to Renji Hospital in a hurry. As soon as Jiang Guier's hand touched the railing of the inpatient corridor, her palms were covered with a thin layer of sweat. She turned her head to look at Lin Wan, who had already grabbed her Chanel skirt and made several wrinkles.
Before they arrived, the two encouraged each other, saying they would stand by their grandmother through thick and thin. But now they both stopped at the door of the ward, and the voices inside seemed to explode like thunder.
"I disagree with this plan."
"Ms. Jiang, as a family member of the patient, you should know that this is the best proposal for your mother right now. All of the patient's indicators are declining, and nasogastric feeding is to maintain nutrition..." The doctor's voice was gentle, but it revealed a sense of exhaustion and helplessness.
"Okay, stop talking."
Jiang Wumei interrupted the doctor, looking at her mother on the bed with a complicated expression. "Don't torment her."
