Chapter 18 The End
"Ugh, ah—!"

A strange, low growl escaped from that mutilated face, filled with indescribable pain.

An Jing almost instinctively stopped struggling.

The bony hand that was gripping her hair suddenly stopped, loosened its grip by half an inch, and then began to tremble slightly as if it had lost control.

She barely managed to open her eyes.

The half-destroyed body slowly raised its hand and grabbed its own neck.

The feeling wasn't like madness, but more like—a resistance to one's own body.

She was stunned.

This scene... is too bizarre.

She instinctively held her breath and stared wide-eyed at the enigmatic face, not understanding why.

That was Teacher Li's face, but for a moment, something unusual flashed in his eyes.

It felt like a struggle, yet also like belated rationality.

And in that very instant when he mysteriously gripped his throat tightly with his hand, his lips twitched, and he managed to utter a single sentence with difficulty:

"...You are not allowed to...bully...my student."

The voice was hoarse and intermittent, like metal dragging across dry ground.

But she understood.

In an instant, An Jing's brain felt as if it had been struck hard.

She stared at him, her lips trembling, and whispered something she could hardly believe herself:
"...Teacher Li?"

The teacher, Ms. Li, who always took special care of her during her school days and hoped that she could get along well with her classmates?

He didn't die; he's still alive.

Now, inside that mysterious body, he struggles to utter these words.

An Jing immediately understood why this mysterious creature had been possessing Teacher Li.

Because when Teacher Li was possessed, he may not have been completely dead yet, and his body was still intact.

Therefore, this person still has consciousness, but it is being suppressed by a mysterious force.

Now, the mysterious structure is only half intact after being blown up, and the suppression is not as strong as before, so Teacher Li's consciousness has awakened.

"An Jing!"

The system's voice abruptly interrupted her daze, its speech unusually rapid:

An Jing, can you hear that? Your teacher is still conscious!

He's currently wresting control of the body from a mysterious figure!

You must kill this body immediately! While it can still suppress that mystery!

“But I…” Her voice trembled, and she tried to stand up by supporting herself with her hands on the ground.

My lungs felt like they were being burned, and the pain in my broken leg was like being cut by a knife. My consciousness was fading from the pain.

"If we don't kill them now, everything will be in vain." The system practically shouted. "Do you want your teacher to do all that useless work? And those lamplighters will die for nothing."

An Jing shuddered, her throat tightened, and a tear mixed with blood rolled down her cheek.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Then, gritting his teeth, he supported himself with his broken leg and slowly stood up.

Every movement felt like breaking and then putting her bones back together, causing her to tremble with pain, but she didn't stop.

She saw a dagger lying quietly on the ground not far away.

It's the one from 001.

Some items did not disappear with them during the explosion.

She staggered, dragging her legs as she moved forward step by step.

With each breath, her lungs felt like they were being scraped by a knife. Everything was blurred in the smoke and dust. She walked too slowly, and every step she took was like bleeding.

But she still made it there.

He crouched down and picked up the blood-stained dagger.

My fingertips are numb, and I can barely hold on.

But she held on.

"I killed it, so I don't owe you anything anymore, right?" she murmured softly, her voice so hoarse it was almost inaudible, tinged with a bitter smile.

But she also knew that she wasn't done yet.

A dagger was in hand.

She turned and walked toward the body.

Li En was still struggling, his eyes switching between clarity and madness.

"An Jing..." he began softly, his voice trembling.

She gritted her teeth, stopped in front of him, and spoke as softly as a leaf in the wind:
"I'm sorry, Teacher Li."

The next second, she gripped the dagger tightly and plunged it fiercely into his chest.

“Ahhhh——!!!”

It tilted its head back and let out a blood-curdling scream.

Blood gushed out, splattering all over her face.

She was trembling all over, her knuckles were white, and tears fell silently. At that moment, Li En's pupils gradually lost focus, but the corners of her mouth slowly curled up, as if she were smiling.

"An Jing... did a good job."

Then, his body collapsed, powerless.

She squatted there, not moving for a long time.

The smell of blood made her want to vomit, and her body ached and went numb, but she just cried softly and silently.

She killed the mysterious creature.

But she also killed her teacher.

The system's voice sounded again:
[An Jing, quickly use that card—the blank card!]

[It's not over yet, hurry!]

She looked up, her eyes vacant, her mind a jumble of thoughts, but she did as she was told, mechanically pulling out the card.

Pure white with no image.

She simply uttered a single word in a low voice:

"use."

A ring of golden patterns suddenly appeared on the card, like a fluctuation of psionic energy.

The next moment, a tremendous suction force erupted from the center of the card.

Li En's remains twitched violently, and his previously dormant spiritual energy surged once more. Wisps of black energy struggled to emerge from his body, as if being forcibly extracted.

“Aa ...

That was the final, eerie scream.

A few breaths later, all the dark psionic energy was completely devoured.

The card surface lit up.

Three stars.

A golden name appeared on it:
——【Soul Controller】

An Jing looked down at it, and suddenly, all her strength seemed to have been drained away.

She knelt on the ground, lying there helplessly.

She finally couldn't hold on any longer.

My vision gradually darkened, and my consciousness receded like the tide.

But she knew she had won.

She held on until the very end.

An Jing's consciousness was collapsing little by little.

But in the last second before she was completely plunged into darkness, she heard a noise.

"The magnetic field has disappeared!"

"Report: The magnetic current in this area is receding!"

"Anomalies have appeared in the villa area, and the magnetic field blockade has disappeared!"

It was the sound of footsteps; many people were quickly approaching this direction.

Sounds came from all directions: some people were shouting, some were reporting, and some were gasping in shock.

"What...what happened here?"

"So much blood, how many people have died here."

"Quick, there are still survivors here!"

Someone ran toward her, stumbling, making a crisp crunching sound on the gravel and scorched earth.

An Jing squinted, everything in front of her was gray, and her pupils were beginning to dilate.

She couldn't see anything clearly.

She could barely move her eyes and could only catch snippets of words through her blurry ears.

"Don't touch her! Her leg might be broken—"

"She has a lot of internal bleeding, shallow breathing, and a rapid heartbeat... but she is still responsive. Contact the medical team immediately."

She felt herself being carefully helped up.

Someone shouted, "There are still survivors! Quick! Send them out!"

The voice was very close, yet it seemed to float beside her ear, as if separated by a layer of water, but it couldn't penetrate her mind.

She is so tired.

Her hands hung at her sides, then were lifted up, examined, and gently placed back into her bosom.

Some people tried to immobilize the injured leg, while others called out to her in her ear:

"Hey, can you hear me? What's your name?"

"She's still alive... no, her vital signs are dropping—hurry up, stop talking nonsense!"

Footsteps, the buzzing of walkie-talkies, and the clanging of medical equipment all blended into a low murmur.

She could no longer hear clearly.

All that remained before my eyes were fragmented spots of light.
