Hogwarts: Dumbledore reigned over the wizarding world
Chapter 37: Forbidden Forest
Chapter 37: Forbidden Forest (Part )
Vaughan did not go to Hagrid immediately.
It was not until the next day, after receiving the small package sent to him by Zhu Weijiong, that he carried the small package and Guoguocha out of Hogwarts Castle, walked along a stone staircase, crossed the mountain behind the castle, and came to the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
It was a flat grassland, which was often cleared, probably to prevent the expansion of the forest, and there was almost no bush in the grassland.
Hagrid's house stands out.
It was a small cottage made of wooden boards. A gravel road extended from the castle and connected to the front of the cottage. The stone foundation was covered with moss. A simple fence extended to both sides of the foundation, enclosing a pumpkin patch behind the house.
When Vaughan arrived, Hagrid was sitting on the steps with a large copper basin at his feet, peeling potatoes.
Overhead, smoke billowed from the odd pointed roof of the hut.
Seeing Vaughn coming from afar, Hagrid put down the work in his hands and wiped his huge hands on his apron again and again.
"Vaughn Weasley?" he shouted.
"it's me!"
Hearing the stranger's voice, a big dog ran out of the house barking. Hagrid quickly pulled it back: "Fang, you bad boy, shut up."
Vaughn quickly approached, took a look at the large, matted-haired dog, greeted him with a smile, and then held up the package in his hand: "Hello, Hagrid. It's our first meeting, and I brought you some gifts."
"Ah, this..."
Hagrid's bearded face flushed red, and he didn't know where to put his hands. He stammered for a while before he suddenly reacted and hurriedly pushed open the door.
"Come on, please come in. You're so polite. I just wanted to give you some advice in person. I didn't expect... it would be so formal. Really..."
This half-giant, who is a classmate of Socket Man, is not at all mature enough for his age.
He is so irritable, just like a little child.
Vaughn followed Hagrid into the house. The hut didn't look very tidy, a bit like the bachelor dormitory where Vaughn lived when he first started working in his previous life. Many things were piled up randomly, but they could be easily found when needed.
The fire in the fireplace was burning brightly and warmly.
A huge table and huge chairs were placed by the fireplace, with a moleskin coat and a small pink umbrella thrown on top.
Hagrid hurriedly grabbed them and threw them aside, asked Vaughan to sit down, and poured him tea, muttering:
"You don't actually have to bring a gift. That's too polite. I didn't prepare anything... What would you like to drink?"
"…You're already pouring the tea, Hagrid."
"Oh? Oh... I'm sorry, I mean, it's rare for someone to bring me a gift when they see me, so I'm a little nervous..."
Bringing the tea to Vaughn, Hagrid plopped down in his huge chair, his small black beetle-like eyes unconsciously glancing at the small package Vaughn had brought.
Vaughn smiled and opened the package, revealing an atlas.
"I heard from Ron that you like animals very much. I'm sure I don't know as much about magical animals as you do, so I asked Dad to buy an animal atlas from the Muggle society."
"There are animals from all over the world, some of which you may not have seen before, so you can take a look to relieve your boredom."
This gift obviously touched Hagrid's soft heart.
He opened it carefully and took a look.
The size of the atlas is only suitable for the size of an ordinary human. In the hands of Hagrid, who is 11 feet tall, it looks very small.
This made him cherish it even more, and he put it away after flipping through a few pages.
Having received the gift, Hagrid found himself unable to voice the words he had prepared. He explained, "The matter of the Philosopher's Stone concerns Headmaster Dumbledore, which is why I specifically instructed you to keep it a secret. I meant no other." "I know. I haven't told anyone except Harry and the others, Hagrid. You can rest assured."
Hagrid breathed a sigh of relief, and then he heard Vaughn say, "Actually, I have a little favor to ask you for this time."
Hagrid immediately patted his chest: "What is it? As long as I can do it."
"I want to go to the Forbidden Forest."
"Ah..." Hagrid was stunned and shook his head repeatedly: "No, no, little wizards can't go to the Forbidden Forest, Vaughn, I heard that you have good grades, right? Don't learn from your two brothers, Fred and George, those two little naughty boys, they gave me a headache..."
Vaughan interrupted him: "Listen to me, Hagrid, I'm not alone. I need you to be my guide and tell me what kind of magical animals and plants there are in which places."
"Uh, what are you doing?"
"I'm a pharmacist. I'm planning to develop a new potion and I might need some ingredients, so I want to observe it on site."
"This……"
Hagrid hesitated. He had heard of Vaughn's name too; of course, Harry and Ron had told him about it.
Seeing that his attitude softened, Vaughan immediately talked a lot about his ideas and significance for the potion, and how difficult it was to choose the materials.
Hagrid, the poor student, felt dizzy after hearing this. After a while, he finally nodded blankly and said:
"Okay, okay, I can take you there, but we have to agree first. We can't go deep into the Forbidden Forest, and we can't go to places I think are dangerous, like eight-eyed spiders and werewolves. Oh, and there are also centaurs. Those guys are not easy to talk to, and they talk nonsense all the time."
Hagrid is a man of action.
Since he had agreed and asked Vaughn if he had time today, he put on his moleskin coat, picked up the crossbow at the door, and decided to take Vaughn for a walk today.
"Tooth, come over... Oh - it's a beautiful cat, Vaughn, what's its name?"
"Guo Guo Cha," Vaughan replied, then called out, "Guo Guo Cha, stop chattering! It's hiding under the bed."
After a few more Meow Meow punches, Yaya was beaten so hard that he ran away in panic. Guo Guocha then returned to Vaughn with his head held high.
Hagrid was not angry, and explained to Vaughn: "I'm not surprised at all. Fang is a coward and a bully, but he is my good helper and many animals in the Forbidden Forest know him."
The two of them, along with a cat and a dog, quickly entered the forbidden forest.
This forest, which has existed for who knows how many years, has a completely different appearance from the outside world. The huge treetops supported by the ancient trees block out the sun, robbing it of almost all the sunlight, leaving only a few spots of sunlight to prevent the forest from being completely dark.
Wisps of mist were still lingering among the thick trunks of the ancient trees in sight.
Perhaps because it was daytime and not the time when most animals were active, the woods were very quiet and the air felt stagnant.
The only sound was the rustling of feet passing through the thick layer of fallen leaves.
Vaughan drew his wand.
Noticing his movements, Hagrid soothed him, "Don't worry, I've lived here for decades and I won't let anything happen to you."
He clearly didn't agree before, but now that they have really entered the Forbidden Forest, he has taken the initiative.
Vaughan smiled, said nothing, and didn't put away his wand.
He knew that the forbidden forest was not safe at all this semester!
