Chapter 58 Quidditch Season Begins
Chapter 58 Quidditch Season Begins
Harry's Occlumency practice continued.
But because of the dream spell, his attitude became much more positive afterwards.
But his roommates were not very satisfied - every midnight, when they were sleeping soundly, they would be scared away by Harry's sudden and inexplicable laughter.
Ron asked, "What kind of good dream did you have? Why were you jumping and laughing?"
Harry hesitated and said he was too tired and had forgotten everything in his dream.
He was indeed very tired. He attended classes during the day and studied brain blocking at night. As the Quidditch season approached, Wood began to go crazy again and increased his training to four nights a week, of course, two of which were concentrated on the weekends.
The only thing that made Harry feel fortunate was that since the last time they experienced danger together, Hermione began to allow him and Ron to copy her homework. Although she still urged them to write it themselves, every time the two of them pretended to be stupid, her impatient temper would force her to tell the answer.
She only got angry when the two of them were about to copy her paper.
"Are you trolls? What would a professor think if he saw three identical papers?"
Harry and Ron had no choice but to run to the library in despair, scowling at the four-foot-long essay requirements.
They often ran into Vaughn in the library.
He was the object of envy and admiration of all the first-year wizards. The admiration was naturally because he killed the troll, and the envy was that he did not have to do homework, and the professors never cared even if he read other books in class.
At least that's what Harry envied.
He also noticed that Vaughn participated less and less in Slytherin's Quidditch training. When he told Wood about this discovery, Wood's gloomy brow finally relaxed a little.
He slapped Harry's shoulder vigorously:
"Come on Harry, the game is on Saturday, try to beat Slytherin!"
That's right, the match between Gryffindor and Slytherin is this Saturday.
Time is so wonderful. If it is called "mid-month" or a specific date, it usually feels like it is still very far away, but once it is said "this week", the sense of urgency seems to come down all of a sudden.
The day before the game, Harry stayed in the dormitory and became more and more anxious, so he called his friends to go to the courtyard to relax.
The weather was very cold, so Hermione helped them summon fire and hid it in a jar to keep warm, then ran to find Vaughn to learn.
The two of them were holding the jar, feeling the cold wind and staring blankly in the courtyard.
Ron told Harry about his knowledge of Quidditch: "...I think you have an advantage over Vaughn. You see, all the famous Quidditch seekers are thin and small, because that's how they can fly fast and flexibly. Vaughn is taller and stronger than you."
He added, "It's a pity that because they're so thin, Seekers are often knocked down by Chasers and Beaters. Last year, England's Seeker broke his arm. I heard the bone..."
Harry sniffed, suddenly regretting listening to Ron.
He had seen the players on the Slytherin team, and they were all big and strong.
For the entire day, the scene of himself being beaten up by them and falling from the sky kept appearing in his mind.
Therefore, that night, he specifically asked Vaughn to use a stronger dream spell on him.
Vaughan reminded him, "Harry, the Dream Charm can only make you have sweet dreams, it has no effect on sleeping."
Harry, who just wanted to find psychological comfort, didn't listen.
Although they were going to be rivals on the Quidditch field tomorrow, it didn't affect their relationship. Harry now trusted Vaughan very much. When they parted that night, he said to Vaughan seriously, "Do your best tomorrow. Friendship comes first, competition comes second."
"You too," Vaughn smiled.
Both enemies and friends, both competitors and cooperators, this relationship that seems like that between adults gives Harry the illusion that he has matured and his thinking has been sublimated.
Then, he couldn't sleep that night.
It turns out, he actually wants to win!
He wanted to beat Vaughn, his friend who was better than him in every way.
This also proved that the dream spell did not have a sleeping effect, and he kept his eyes open until dawn.
The next day at Hogwarts was sunny and cold, perfect weather for a Quidditch match. But Harry was in a terrible mood.
"Eat your food, Harry, you look terrible."
"I do not want to eat."
Hermione advised: "At least eat a bite, you still have to fly in the sky soon!"
It would have been fine if she hadn't said it, but as soon as she did, Harry became so nervous that his face turned pale. Looking at the breakfast on the table, he felt his stomach lurching.
The young wizards around were all discussing today's game excitedly. This was because there were too many focuses, the love-hate relationship between Gryffindor and Slytherin, and the seekers of both teams were famous figures.
Everyone who passed by gave Harry some encouragement.
The twins also slipped Harry a chocolate biscuit, but Harry didn't want to eat it, so they gave it to him when Ron came.
Ron also advised, "Harry, you have to keep your strength. Seekers are the ones that every team focuses on guarding against. You need to have the stamina to fight them."
As he spoke, he took a bite of the cookie: "Hmm, it tastes good. Where did you get it?"
"Fred and George gave it to me."
Then, Harry saw Ron's expression stiffen instantly.
2 seconds later, there was a bang.
Ron turned into a giant canary, startling everyone, and the twins jumped for joy in the distance.
"Perfect work, Fred."
"Yes George, canary cookies, presented by Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes!"
The giant canary stared at them in disbelief with its small eyes, and soon began to shed its feathers. When all the feathers fell off, Ron turned back to normal. He yelled at the twins, "You two traitors, you actually gave Harry a prank cookie..."
"No, no, no, little Ronnie, we know Harry can't eat, he will definitely give it to you."
"Yes Fred, perfect plan."
"Yeah!" The twins high-fived.
Although it's not quite right to say this, Harry's mood suddenly improved a lot when he saw Ron being bullied by his brothers again.
Before going on stage, he finally managed to drink a bowl of pumpkin juice and eat a piece of pie.
After changing into the red uniform in the team locker room, Harry looked back and saw Ron huddled in the doorway, looking at him with envy. Harry felt strange.
"Um, Ron, where's Hermione?"
"Go find Vaughn. Humph, she's a traitor too!"
The Slytherin team locker room.
The Slytherin uniform is a dark green cloak with silver trim and embroidered silver snake patterns.
Aside from the color, which Vaughn didn't like, the style was pretty cool.
Hermione, holding a book, clenched her fist at Vaughan with sparkling eyes: "Come on, Vaughan!"
"Thank you, Hermione."
Vaughan ruffled her hair and the girl ran away blushing.
When he turned around, the other team members quickly looked away and pretended not to see anything.
"What are you all standing there for? Get ready to go on stage!"
"Yes!"
