Chapter 7 Ollivander
Chapter 7 Ollivander
Guoguocha does have Kneazle bloodline.
The keen senses derived from its blood allowed it to detect something, so from then on, it kept sniffing around Ron. Its serious cat face and sharp eyes scared Ron so much that his legs trembled.
He didn't even dare to protest and could only mourn for Banban silently.
The miscellaneous shopping came to an end. Molly crossed out another item on the slip of paper in her hand and nodded with satisfaction. "Okay, there's only Ollivanders left. Ron, Vaughn, and my darlings, you'll have your own wands soon."
This good news finally brought some comfort to Ron.
The family followed the crowd into the depths of Diagon Alley. Ollivander's Wand Shop was the oldest shop here, having become the gateway to the wizarding world long before the Leaky Cauldron (which was founded in 1500).
It's hidden in the deepest part of Diagon Alley, inside a small, shabby shop. The peeling paint and dusty windows give no hint of its glorious past. Only the sign reveals its rich history:
Ollivanders - Crafting Fine Wands Since 328 BC
The Weasley family walked into the store. The store was very small, perhaps because there were too many goods. They were long and narrow paper boxes. At a glance, there were probably thousands of them.
They were piled up haphazardly, almost reaching the ceiling.
The store was very quiet, with only the gentle echo of the doorbell when the door was pushed open just now, which made the dust and silence in the store seem to be hidden with some mysterious magic.
An old man with big light-colored eyes walked out from behind the shelves. The dim shop and shelves made his eyes look like two moons.
"Ah, good afternoon, guests, and welcome to Ollivander's."
His voice was soft and vague, and Vaughn heard Ron beside him swallow hard.
Molly, on the other hand, has gotten used to it. She has been to this store five times, including when she was in school.
Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred and George all started school at the same time, so they couldn't use the old one.
She called out, "Good afternoon, Mr. Ollivander. Do you remember me?"
"Of course, of course." Ollivander nodded repeatedly and answered in his erratic voice: "Molly Prewett Weasley, don't ask me this question every time. I'm not senile yet, so -"
He looked at Vaughan and Ron and whispered, "Are these the two new Weasleys?"
"Yes, Mr. Ollivander."
"Ah, every time Hogwarts opens is the happiest day for me. Of course, it's not because I can make money, that's just one of the reasons. More importantly, these wands I made with my own hands have finally found their owners."
Ollivander put a hand to his ear and said mysteriously, "Did you hear that? Some wands are cheering - so, who of you will go first?"
"...Gudong!"
Ron was frightened by him and hurriedly dragged his mother out: "Let Vaughn go first, Mom, I need some fresh air!!"
Molly had no choice but to follow him out, leaving Vaughn and the completely unconcerned Ollivander behind. He pulled a tape measure from his pocket and said, "Mr. Vaughn Weasley, which hand do you use?"
"Right hand."
Ollivander nodded, walked around Vaughan and began to measure, saying softly:
"Mr. Vaughan Weasley, I've heard of your name, the Potions genius."
"Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Ollivander."
"You don't seem afraid of me?"
Vaughn glanced at him and shook his head. "When I first brewed a potion, I scared Ron and made him cry. He thought I was casting a curse on him. It was just that I was used to speaking softly when brewing potions."
Ollivander nodded repeatedly, saying, "Yes, yes, people who master technology often have a few quirks, as well as beliefs and convictions that outsiders can't understand." Vaughn raised an eyebrow and asked, "So, taking measurements for each customer is your philosophy?"
"Of course, because every person is unique, and so are wands. I need to know more about you before I can choose the most suitable wand."
Vaughn looked up at the thousands of wands in front of him and said, "I heard that you only use unicorn hair, phoenix tail feathers, and dragon nerves to make your wands? With such limited materials, how can you guarantee that there won't be any duplication?"
"Oh, coming from a potion genius, I have to say you've got the point," Ollivander replied happily. "To other young wizards, I can certainly tell them that every unicorn, phoenix, and dragon is unique, because that's easier for them to understand. But since you asked, I have to tell you the truth. This also involves the choice of material for the wand."
As he spoke, he had already finished the measurement.
After pondering for a moment, he pulled out a paper box, took out the wand inside, and handed it to Vaughan with both hands:
"12 inches. The core is made of dragon nerves, fir wood. It likes wizards who are focused, strong-willed, and even powerful."
Vaughan held it in his hand and waved it gently, and a strong wind suddenly blew in the small shop.
Ollivander immediately took back the wand and winked at Vaughn: "Look, it likes you very much, but you are not suitable for it!"
Soon, Ollivander pulled out another wand from a paper box. "10 and a half inches, the core is made of dragon nerve, elm wood. There are legends that it prefers pure-blood wizards, but from my experience, those may be nonsense passed down by pure-blood families. I think it prefers noble wizards with leadership qualities."
This time, as soon as Vaughn waved his wand, countless golden sparks exploded in the air.
But it was taken away by Ollivander again.
"It likes you too, but you two are not suitable..."
After two tests and his own judgment of the materials based on his full potion talent, Vaughn already had a vague idea.
Ollivander had said before that "some wands were cheering", and perhaps he was not being mysterious. When he had just tested the two wands, he could indeed feel their joy.
It was a very vague feeling, a little hazy, but real.
So, when Ollivander took out the third wand, Vaughan didn't take it. Instead, he asked, "You mentioned the material of the wand before. Can I understand that each wand has a unique character and preference, and these characteristics are determined by the material of the wand?"
Ollivander was obviously stunned for a moment, his large light-colored eyes flickering, and after a moment, he nodded slightly.
"Very perceptive, Mr. Vaughan Weasley. This is the secret of every wand maker. The wand core can only determine what kind of magic the wand is suitable for. The wand body is the key to the wand's choice of wizard!"
Vaughan was thoughtful. Of course, he couldn't do what Ollivander did and hear the "cheers of the wands", but when he thought about the two times Ollivander had said "It likes you very much, but you are not suitable for each other", he thought about his own experience of time travel.
Vaughan thought that perhaps he needed a special wand that would suit him!
The relationship between the wand and the wizard is not simply one of choosing and being chosen, but one of mutual achievement.
That’s why Ollivander said “not suitable”, because he didn’t understand Vaughn, and he didn’t know about Vaughn’s time-travel experience!
Thinking of this, Vaughn closed his eyes, released his magic power, and the brain closure technique that had been kept running!
The next moment, he felt something.
He walked to a cluttered shelf and pulled out a cardboard box.
When he opened the box, he could feel the wand almost eager to jump into his hand.
Chi-
As Vaughn waved his wand, arcs of electricity jumped out of the air. They were like a group of agile snakes, splitting, flowing, and sliding across the surfaces of countless cardboard boxes.
Ollivander's eyes widened:
"14 inches, dragon nerves, and—elder! Proud, extreme, and explosive... It likes people with unique destinies..."
