Chapter 12 Assembly
As agreed, Bai Gu woke Su Ming an hour early. He had been unconscious for a full nine hours.

"Do you feel dizzy?" White Bone asked.

Su Ming shook his head. Although he felt extremely uncomfortable while casting the spell, he felt much better after taking a nap.

"Your magic has recovered quite well," said the skeleton. "I take back my previous assessment of you as a magical failure."

“I thought you’d acknowledge me as a genius when I awakened my spatial abilities,” Su Ming said.

“No, awakening spatial abilities is not something a living being should be able to do, that doesn’t count,” the necromancer insisted. “But the fact that there are no side effects from overdrafting magic is a physique that spellcasters greatly envy.”

Su Ming said he could not accept this logic.

He chatted idly while directing the troublesome boy to do his work.

First, the tools. Welding machines are a given, but drilling and cutting machines are essential, and all kinds of wrenches, screwdrivers, Allen wrenches, etc., are indispensable. A set of commonly used measuring tools was also brought along.

Then there were screws and spare parts of various sizes; I took some whenever I saw them.

After finishing that, he returned to the workshop office. None of the computers there had passwords, so he turned them on one by one and searched through them. Sure enough, he found the ship's information on one of the computers, which contained a large number of blueprints, a complete set of manuals, and a lot of learning materials.

There was a portable computer in the office. Su Ming turned it on and found that its performance was decent, and it had all the commonly used software tools. He copied the data onto it, carried it back to the dock, and it was almost time.

The troublesome boy carried the things into the cabin. Su Ming discovered that where the boiler and steam engine used to be had been, they had been replaced by piles of metal scraps after last night's summoning.

This wave of losses will likely result in the shipyard incurring losses of several hundred thousand yuan, and Su Ming could only apologize. He could afford the three thousand yuan for the motorcycle, but there was really nothing he could do about this.

Despite his apologies, Su Ming had to escape. He picked up some paint and wrote in the cabin: "Borrowed out of necessity. Will be returned if necessary."

After thinking for a moment, he added his name, "Little Troublemaker." He figured it would be convenient for the police to handle the case together, minimizing the use of public resources. He was quite self-aware; this wouldn't be the only time something like this happened.

The second summoning teleport was much easier for Su Ming. In addition to the power components such as the gearbox and drive shaft thruster, he simply brought the generator along as well.

This time he was much better; he was still weak, but he hadn't fainted. Su Ming took a moment to recover, then manipulated Little Trouble to steal a can of gasoline from the warehouse and leave the shipyard. He controlled Little Trouble to ride a motorcycle for over ten kilometers, finding an abandoned factory to hide in before disconnecting.

This time, Su Ming slept for a much shorter time, waking up on his own after about four hours.

The skeleton even had its skeleton servants prepare instant noodles for him. However, it took a long time, and she kept using magic to keep them warm; the noodles had become soggy and unrecognizable.

Su Ming pulled out a packet of pickled vegetables and then reluctantly ate it.

After a short rest, Su Ming began assembling the steam engine. Only a day and a half remained, and there was still a great deal of work to be done.

According to the blueprints, he needs to disassemble each of the parts further before he can reassemble them. He also needs to build a basic platform to secure all the equipment to.

"So you're actually an alchemist," the skeleton said, watching him fiddle with various things, "just without any direct combat ability, right?"

“In my world, someone like me is called a skilled worker,” Su Ming replied. “I have a level four fitter’s certificate!”

After observing for a while, the skeleton began to summon Galio's subordinates into high-level zombies.

Zombies are heavy and strong; several zombies together can lift a component weighing one ton.

As for tightening screws, Su Ming was glad that he had passed over a few torque wrenches, otherwise they would have broken many screws.

The skeleton created a soul core for each zombie, wrote control runes, and continuously added functions according to Su Ming's needs. By the afternoon, the zombies were already greasing bearings. If he hadn't been completely unable to understand her rune setup, he would have been eager to try it himself.

“I shouldn’t have called myself a worker,” Su Ming said. “These guys are the real born workaholics!”

"Oh? What level of fitter are they equivalent to now?" White Bone asked.

"No, no, no, I'm not even close to being a fitter. At most, I'm a beginner mechanical assembler," Su Ming said. "But it's not bad either. I'm obedient, there's a lot of work but little trouble, which puts me ahead of most workers on Earth."

After completing the basic preparations for the equipment, Su Ming and Bai Gu began setting up the equipment platform.

"This area needs to be flatter."

"I'm very flat!" White Bone was a little angry because she really felt that the bone platform she had assembled was already very flat.

“No, here, you’ve bulged out.” Su Ming held a laser level and a level, pointing to several spots on the bone plate, “And here and here.”

"Your demands are too high, I can't do it!"

Su Ming put down his tools, walked to the side, took out his thermos and drank some water. He thought for a moment, "Let's try a different approach."

He found several metal pipes among the materials he brought, and then found several pieces of steel plates from the disassembled truck parts.

With the help of the zombies, he quickly built a template for a platform.

“Fill this up with bone,” Su Ming said. “Fill it up a little more.”

The white bones were quickly poured.

"Keep the bone in an active state," Su Ming said, and then together with the zombie, they used a long ruler and a taut rope to scrape from one side to the other, removing the excess bone.

After a final curing process, Su Ming found that the flatness was finally usable.

Su Ming secretly made a mental note that he would have to bring some civil engineering equipment for the next teleportation.

Then came drilling. A lot of batteries and a 220-volt inverter were removed from the new energy vehicle. Su Ming connected them, thus providing electricity. He had the zombies use an impact drill to make holes. The fact that the skeleton could change its bone texture from hard to soft was very convenient.

Of course, writing commands into the zombie's soul fire took a lot of effort from the skeleton.

Once the platform was ready, the skeleton used levitation to help the zombies move the two-part power system onto the platform and secure it with expansion bolts.

By the time this step was completed, it was already evening. Su Ming lay on the ground, unwilling to move. The skeletons were also somewhat listless, and the zombies, lacking mental support, were all swaying precariously.

"Is this what you call the simplest, easiest-to-use magical artifact?" White Bone questioned Su Ming.

"If we get out of here alive, I'll take you to fight some tough ones." Su Ming said as he climbed onto the soft mattress he had taken from the car, wrapped himself tightly in the blanket, and fell asleep with his head tilted to the side.

The scholar glanced at Su Ming, who was sleeping like a baby, and suddenly felt a pang of nostalgia for his own past as a living being.

She sighed softly, disconnected from mental synchronization, and began to deal with the nighttime harassment from the Temple of Light legion.
