Otherworld Bone Dragon Operation Guide
Chapter 14 Deionized Water
Chapter 14 Deionized Water
I calculated that these batteries can store 100 kilowatt-hours of electricity.
This should be enough time for the operation, but according to the escape plan, the need for steam engine propulsion will certainly not be a matter of just one or two days. The enemy's frantic search could continue for who knows how long.
So Su Ming set the inverter to bidirectional, connected the generator belt to the main circuit via the gearbox.
When the steam engine is running, it drives the generator to charge the battery. When the generator stops or its power is insufficient, the battery and inverter supply power to the circuit.
With the circuit in place, Su Ming connected several LED lights.
After he finished everything, the alarm clock reminded him that it was already night on Earth.

Su Ming manipulated the little troublemaker out of the abandoned factory, ran to the roadside where he had hidden his motorcycle, and set off on his bike.
The shipyard definitely has air compressors, but he doesn't dare go there now, and he won't go to that industrial area for a while either.
The area must be in a state of panic right after the theft.
He opened the offline map on his phone and went to the area in the city where hardware and electrical equipment stores were concentrated. Before long, he found what he wanted in a store: a 3.2-kilowatt air compressor with a working voltage of 220 volts.
Su Ming picked out a bunch of air hoses, quick connectors of different models, solenoid valves and control coils, and also added some cables, air switches, wiring lugs, hydraulic pliers, tape, and all sorts of other odds and ends that he could use.
As usual, Su Ming left a message on the wall with spray paint, and then activated the summoning spell. There weren't many items, and the teleportation went smoothly. He felt that he was becoming more and more proficient in manipulating summoning magic.
The other world consumed an equivalent amount of materials. Steel was manageable, but copper was indeed limited. The motor for the air compressor alone consumed a significant amount. When acquiring the cables, Su Ming specifically chose aluminum wire to minimize copper consumption.
Both new energy vehicles have aluminum alloy bodies, and there is currently a sufficient supply of aluminum.
Su Ming originally planned to find equipment to make deionized water, but he discovered a problem while organizing materials: there was no resin in this other world!
Su Ming hid the motorcycle and the little troublemaker, then went to talk to Bai Gu.
"Is it really necessary?" White Bone asked.
"Water purification devices that utilize resin ion exchange are the simplest in terms of technology," Su Ming explained.
"No, I'm asking about deionized water. Is it absolutely necessary?"
“Desalinating water will produce a lot of scale,” Su Ming replied. “It will reduce the performance of the boiler and steam engine, and over time it will damage the equipment—but if it’s just about escaping, it should be fine.”
White Bone thought for a moment, "We can't be shortsighted. Our enemies won't let us go easily. We not only need to escape, but also be able to deal with the subsequent search. And—" she paused, "we'll be facing more than just the Temple Knights. Let me think of a way to handle this. You should rest first."
It's now the third night since the steam escape plan began, and Su Ming has been busy all day again.
He nodded, rummaged through his suitcase for his toiletries, and quickly washed himself. He grabbed a blanket, intending to use the wooden crate as a bed, but then discovered it was missing.
"Where was that big box?" he asked the skeleton.
"What box?"
Su Ming scratched his head, too lazy to ask any further questions. He used a soft mat he had taken from the car to make a makeshift bed on the floor and went to sleep.
****
When he woke up the next morning, a skeleton servant handed him a glass of water.
Su Ming drank it all in one gulp, smacked his lips, and felt that the water had a strange taste.
"What kind of water is this?" he quickly asked the skeleton.
He can now actively synchronize his mind with the skeleton, but it doesn't last long, unlike the skeleton which can treat it like an auto-play mode. "Deionized water," the skeleton replied. "Actually, alchemy records methods for this; you can achieve it by preparing alchemical potions for different types of water."
Su Ming had also considered chemical methods. Chemical supply stores on Earth are easy to find, but there are no corresponding materials here—that's the problem. If there were materials, why would he need to send them?
Find lime in another world first, then map a bunch of lime from Earth over? That's just ridiculous!
Fortunately, alchemy in this other world also has a similar system.
"So this problem is solved?" Su Ming asked.
"No, my potions are limited; I can probably only create about one-tenth of the pool's worth. Seawater desalination consumes a lot of magic power, so I've already stopped."
"That's only enough for testing. To officially start the steam engine, the water will need to be continuously replenished!"
“That will be fine. We’ll have enough clean water tonight,” said the skeleton.
According to the plan, the steam engine unit will be tested during the day. If successful, the escape will begin tonight. The skeletons could arrive at any moment, so they must proceed step by step, as early as possible.
After connecting the air compressor and filling the boiler and circulating cooling system with deionized water, Su Ming tested each subsystem one by one, adjusting any issues until everything was working properly.
This took up half a day.
Then the boiler system heats up.
Su Ming wasn't actually that familiar with the details of boilers, but these modern devices were highly integrated. Their square-shaped metal casings, painted in various colors, allowed Su Ming to operate them with just a few taps on the touchscreen.
As for the arduous task of refueling, that was naturally done by the hardworking zombies.
The small device was relatively fast; the pressure reached the minimum threshold in less than half an hour. He went to the steam engine and turned it on.
Steam whistled as it rushed into the cylinders, gradually flowing smoothly from a bumpy start, and the heavy flywheel began to accelerate slowly but steadily. When it reached a certain point, the signal on the engine control panel lit up.
Following the parameters suggested in the instruction manual, Su Ming engaged the slow forward gear.
The propeller started spinning, but not too fast.
"The next test needs to be done in the water," Su Ming told Bai Gu. "This system is designed for torque in water, so it can't spin too fast when idling."
The necromancer sent a zombie forward to test the propeller's power, but Su Ming stopped her.
“Don’t be reckless, it will damage the propeller’s fluid structure,” Su Ming explained. “Everything is working properly now. If we go into the water, I can increase the boiler’s combustion and the propeller’s speed. Running at full power, we can propel you to a speed of 14 knots.”
"It's truly amazing," the skeleton exclaimed. "Just a few blades of grass can continuously generate such powerful energy!"
“In my eyes, your magic is something far more wondrous,” Su Ming said.
"Whether it's magic, magic circles, or alchemy, the price we have to pay to achieve the same thing is much higher. In this respect, you win, visitor from Earth."
Su Ming began to shut down the equipment, releasing pressure and cooling it down one by one. Several pipes needed to be welded, and some screws needed to be tightened, but overall, the startup was more successful than expected—even though it had already been tested by the shipyard.
