Chapter 97 Return of the Dead

The previous battles were very intense, and both sides caused considerable damage to the Five Tooth.

"Are there any other cannons available?" Su Ming asked.

“There are five more doors on the second level, but we need to float the Five-Toothed Ship and reload it… This will require a lot of manpower!” She glanced at her own condition, somewhat dejected. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. “Lord Su Ming, you are a necromancer, right!”

"Yes."

“Then you can summon zombies!” Beianqi exclaimed excitedly. “Everyone on the ship has been killed!” She said, enunciating each word clearly, “Lord Su Ming, please use their remains!”

Su Ming clenched his fist. He knew that one day he would have no choice but to turn other people's corpses into undead.

“Okay,” Su Ming replied without any hesitation.

He took a deep breath, stepped back a few paces, and began to use the necromancer's powers for the first time. His senses spread like ripples, and the corpses scattered all around him appeared clearly in his mind—the traces of life and the silence of death intertwined, forming a stark contrast.

He had been specifically instructed on how to summon zombies by Violet. The scholar always tried to prepare for any possible situation in advance, especially when it came to matters of combat; she would be meticulous to the point of being stubborn.

“The zombies are stupid, so we need to hurry,” Beanie said from the side. “You have to take me to different parts of the ship, and I’ll tell you how to do it. You control the zombies to complete the tasks—there’s a lot to do, and I don’t know if we can make it in time. Yesia is too powerful!”

Runes had already appeared beside Su Ming. After thinking for a moment, he decided to speak.

“Miss Beian, there is another technique that can revive them with their memories and intelligence from their previous lives,” he said to Beian. “However, the effect is very short-lived, lasting only a dozen minutes. I also do not have the ability to directly control them.”

The young mechanic stopped. "Is it 'Resurrection of the Dead'? I've heard it's a very difficult spell even among necromancers."

One by one, the dead rose to their feet. Many opened their mouths, but found themselves unable to speak. They then silently went to their respective posts. Some began sealing the breaches in the hull, some began repositioning misaligned equipment, and some went to find undamaged alchemical gunpowder. Tears streamed uncontrollably from Beianqi's eyes. Ignoring them, she commanded, "Close the watertight door in hold number three! Drain ballast tanks one through four!" The dead responded to her orders, completing the various tasks, and water continuously drained from the bottom holes of the Five Teeth.

Su Ming tore a strip of cloth from his clothes and began bandaging the wound on Bei Anqi's arm. When he got to her wrist, he noticed that the girl's left wrist had been smashed open, the skin torn and the bone exposed.

"You're not trying to break your own hand because you can't unlock the chains, are you?" Su Ming gasped, pulling the cloth tighter to stop the bleeding.

Beau Angie's forehead was covered in cold sweat as she answered through the pain, "I pulled my right hand out with all my might. But I couldn't pull my left hand out no matter what I did, there was really... no other choice."

Su Ming knew he couldn't be so resolute, but he admired the girl's tenacity.

At sea, the deep blue Five Fangs slowly rose from the water, its surface covered in scars. The massive warship was unlit, blending seamlessly into the dark sea.

"Second-layer outer armor unlocked, second-layer artillery combat configuration activated, full charge!" Beanche issued the order again.

The dead crew members quickly removed the armor, unlocked and launched the cannons, while some opened the breech and loaded shells and propellant.

"[Violet, lead Yesia to the side of the Five Fangs—the side facing the White Triangle.]" Su Ming immediately sent the message.

Violet looked back; though she couldn't see the semi-submerged giant ship in the darkness, she could sense Su Ming's location. So she quickly turned and flew towards him, even ignoring the blast wave from Yesia's attack. "Give me half a minute!"

"[Xiwo, can you restrain Yesia for a while?]" Su Ming asked.

"Do your best." The old elf landed back on the deck of the Five Tooth and began to prepare a spell.

After loading was complete, Su Ming carried the mechanic girl to the gun emplacements on the second deck. There were five cannons in total; the outermost one was damaged, and the remaining four would soon be ready. Beianqi instructed the resurrected dead to point their cannons at the top of the bridge of the White Triangle.

Su Ming put the girl down, and she staggered to the back of the four cannons, grasped the trigger cord, and everyone watched outside nervously.

Violet's figure came into view first, with Yesia still frantically chasing after her. Su Ming used a dark withering orb to indicate the trajectory to her. Siwo, alerted by Su Ming, also saw her.

The scholar shattered Su Ming's magic orb, turned, and unleashed a force field, bringing himself to a sudden stop in mid-air. Bing Shu, with a wild, unrestrained laugh, slashed down with her twin blades, mercilessly cutting the scholar away. Then, the orc lashed out with her long tail, its fur gleaming coldly, following closely behind and densely piercing the scholar's body.

However, Yesia was also temporarily imprisoned in place by the force field left by Violet.

"Aim visually!" Beanie shouted, and all the dead hurriedly adjusted the angle of their cannons.

The sea suddenly exploded, and a giant wave erupted like a volcanic eruption, transforming into a gaping maw that bit down on Yesia's left leg. Bing Shu stomped her foot disdainfully, and the wave instantly froze into a white iceberg.

But immediately, massive bolts of lightning struck down from the sky, hitting Yesia. The lightning surged in from above, passed through her body, and disappeared into the ice along her left foot. A large thundercloud had somehow gathered in the sky, forming a lightning path with the protruding iceberg.
