Hogwarts: This professor is too Muggle.
Chapter 316 Special Teaching
Chapter 316 Special Teaching
The banquet lasted until late at night.
The stars and moon above the dome were dim.
Perhaps the full moon has already passed, and there are still three weeks until the next full moon. It's not a good time to drink the wolfsbane potion in advance. Lupin is in very good condition and rarely attends the dinner party. He frequently clinks glasses with Hagrid and tastes all the dishes and drinks in the Hogwarts kitchen.
The Defense Against the Dark Arts professor wore a satisfied expression.
Melvin felt that his colleague had a rather bumpy life. For the first few months of his teaching career, he was worried about Sirius's prison break and struggled with whether or not to reveal information about the Animagus. Just when things were finally resolved, he was now filled with anxiety because of the leak of the werewolf's identity.
At this moment, Lupin let down all his guard. He no longer needed to keep the secret, nor did he need to hide his werewolf disease from his professors and colleagues. He raised his glass again and again, as if he wanted to make up for the Christmas dinner he had missed.
The alcohol he drank was sent to his head through his bloodstream. Hagrid's face, as big as a dinner plate, was flushed, and he slumped onto the table, still half asleep. Lupin's eyes were also somewhat glazed. He walked past Hagrid and spoke to Dumbledore, who was in the main seat.
For nearly three weeks since Christmas Eve, the school board has not inquired about Sirius and Peter, but some old friends from the Order of the Phoenix have written letters from time to time to inquire about their well-being. Some of these letters are to confirm the truth, while others are to ask if they need any help.
The trial dragged on for so long that many people realized something was wrong.
Dumbledore always hid in his office and was rarely seen during the latter half of the holiday. Only Professor McGonagall occasionally visited with documents, seemingly having no intention of interfering in Sirius's trial. Lupin was worried but dared not ask, as he found it difficult to face Dumbledore.
Instead of staying in the Screaming Shack during his student days, he wandered around with his friends on full moon nights; after returning to school to teach, he kept his Animagus identity a secret, only to reveal it to his students...
Lu Ping felt he had messed up everything the principal had instructed him to do, but fortunately, it did not lead to serious consequences.
He took a deep breath and paused for a moment: "Dumbledore... Professor."
"Oh, Remus!"
Dumbledore turned and saw his drunken face, raised his glass and gently clinked it against his, replacing the butterbeer with orange juice. The old wizard's lips curled into a smug smile.
"There's something I need your help with. Felius and Melvin are planning a special training session for the Duel Club, and they need your assistance."
Lupin froze, unable to utter a word. He looked past Snape and saw Melvin and Flitwick discussing spells, while the half-elf waved at him from a high stool.
"In fact, this is part of the Defense Against the Dark Arts curriculum."
Melvin nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly.
"Special instruction?" Lu Ping looked puzzled.
“Yes, a special lesson on the Guardian Charm. Many students have just finished their holidays and are in their most positive emotional state. Properly guiding this emotion and then using family members to evoke the belief in protection will definitely make for a very successful lesson. Remus, you need to demonstrate for the students!”
Melvin raised his glass in a toast, and even though they were several feet apart, the two glasses still made a crisp clinking sound.
Melvin stopped Lupin from making the suggestion to Dumbledore because he could foresee the outcome.
The old headmaster's biggest worry was that, for decades he had never directly touched power and respected the Ministry of Magic's rules and regulations. He knew that Fudge and Umbridge were deliberately obstructing the trial, and he also knew that Ms. Burns was pushing for the trial. This was a dispute within the Ministry of Magic.
The willingness to stay in the office and quietly wait for the results is an admirable form of self-control.
……
January 14, 1994, Friday.
School started in mid-January this year, with classes beginning on Thursdays. The holiday assignments for all subjects had just been handed in, and the students had only briefly reviewed the knowledge from last semester. Before they even had a chance to start new classes, it was already the weekend again. The students were very satisfied with this arrangement.
In the afternoon of their third year in Gryffindor, they had Defense Against the Dark Arts class, where they learned about the habits of the kappa, a creature similar to a kappa, which looks like a scaly monkey with webbed limbs and a water-filled cavity on its head, which is the source of its magic.
Kaba primarily inhabits shallow rivers and ponds, feeding on human blood and often strangling unsuspecting people wading through the water. There are no special spells, but throwing a cucumber with your name engraved on it into a river can reduce the chance of being attacked. It can also trick the monster into bowing, causing water to spill from the hole in its head, thus dispelling its magic.
Since only Harry, Harry, and his two friends knew the truth about werewolf disease, the Defense Against the Dark Arts class remained largely unchanged, as relaxed and comfortable as ever.
The first half of the class focused on theoretical knowledge, while the experiences of living on the streets made the otherwise dry textbook interesting. The second half of the class involved students taking turns to demonstrate.
The bell rang before four o'clock, and there were still nearly two hours until dinner.
Watching the professor leave with the tank of water containing Kaba, Harry packed his bag, walked out of the classroom with Ron, and hurried toward the library, intending to help Hermione look up information.
Along the way, many students walked downstairs and saw a crowd gathered in front of the bulletin board when they passed the landing at the corner of the stairs.
Harry and Ron craned their necks to look down, feeling somewhat curious.
The academic calendar for this semester was just handed out a couple of days ago. If I remember correctly, there aren't any exciting events planned for the near future. The Easter break is still a long way off, and we can't go to Hogsmeade during the first week. The next Quidditch match is scheduled for next week: Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw.
What's new on the bulletin board?
"Justin!"
Harry handed the schoolbag to Ron and stopped to call out to a passing classmate: "What's going on? Why is everyone gathered in front of the bulletin board?"
"Harry, you haven't told us about your Christmas holiday adventures yet!"
Several Hufflepuff classmates looked resentful.
Hannah Abbott, with her ponytail, replied, "It's Friday today, the day the Duel Club starts. Professor Flitwick specifically issued a notice inviting almost all the professors to be teaching assistants. They've set up their classroom tonight in the open space in front of the school gate, and I heard that Headmaster Dumbledore will also be there..."
"I can even see Professor Levent's Patronus!"
"You can also have different professors answer your questions."
"During the Charms class this morning, Professor Flitwick also mentioned that everyone should try to attend the class if they don't have anything urgent to do. I heard that Professor Snape is also brewing a potion of joy to help stimulate everyone's positive emotions and facilitate the formation of the Patronus. There was supposed to be an Astronomy class tonight, but Professor Sinesta said it has been postponed. She must also be a special teaching assistant."
Ernie, standing nearby, immediately corrected, "It's not 'should,' it's 'special teaching assistant.' Tonight the moon is dim, and Venus is exceptionally bright. The professor will draw upon the power of the stars to help us form a guardian deity."
The group chatted amongst themselves, expressing their great anticipation for the upcoming special course.
What time does the event start?
"After dinner, the class monitor led the way to the venue."
"Thank you, please let our two colleges stand together tonight..."
Ron chuckled and made plans with the others, because the principal had mentioned the holiday events at the opening banquet, and their legendary adventures had become the talk of the school during breaks, with students enjoying chatting with them.
Harry and Hermione had no objections. After watching their classmates leave, Harry stood there for a moment, then turned and walked upstairs.
"Harry, you've come to the wrong place, the library is this way!"
"I'm not going to the library. It's still early. I'll go talk to Headmaster Dumbledore!"
