Chapter 323
The meeting room fell silent; the topic raised by the witch had stunned everyone.

Just minutes before, Fudge and Umbridge were gloating over their trade of court time and off-court benefits for the presiding judge's seat, but Ms. Burns suddenly struck with a thunderous blow, freezing their smiles on their faces.

The magic wand representing authority on the conference table pointed at their seats, as if a long-planned curse had been locked on them, making it hard for them to breathe.

The atmosphere grew tense. Fudge removed his top hat, revealing a throbbing vein on his forehead.
"According to the constitution drafted by the Wizarding Council, you cannot dismiss a minister who has been elected through proper means without serious misconduct and without justifiable reason!"

"Just cause?"

Ms. Burns chuckled twice and calmly said, "Thirteen years ago, the Department of Accidents and Disasters made a mistake in investigating a case, wrongly awarding an innocent man the Order of Merlin, a Death Eater, and letting him roam free. As the head of the Department of Disasters, wouldn't you consider that a dereliction of duty?"

"I'm not the only wizard who made a mistake!"

Fudge retorted firmly: "That year, the Division of Executions was busy trying the captured Death Eaters, so the case was transferred to the Division of Disaster Management. We handled the magic leak incident properly, communicated with the Muggle government, and minimized the impact!"

"Wasn't it you who, indulging in various celebratory parties, convicted Blake without any investigation?"

"Did I pressure him? Did I use torture to extract a confession? No, I didn't!"

Fudge became more and more self-righteous as he spoke, straightening his back more and more: "If you ask me, it's all his own fault. At the time, he didn't want to say anything, and he didn't want to see anyone. Who knows what he was thinking? Even when the judgment was handed to him, he didn't refute it and didn't appeal for thirteen years."

"Let's leave the old case from thirteen years ago for the trial. The recent unrest caused by the disappearance of the Dementors is ultimately your responsibility, isn't it?"

Ms. Burns asked coldly, "It was your deliberate refusal to withdraw the Dementors that caused them to go out of control and scatter after wandering for half a year, and their whereabouts are still unknown, causing great panic among the residents of Hogsmeade!"

"The incident is still under investigation, but if you ask me, it's Dumbledore's responsibility!"

Fudge was still stubborn: "I've read the investigation report. The Aurors interviewed some residents and claimed to have seen a strong, enchanted light coming from Hogwarts. It must be Dumbledore who moved the Dementors in an attempt to frame me!"

The nonsensical debate left the already shocked employees even more bewildered.

Umbridge found the argument increasingly convincing, and she couldn't help but stand up, looking down at Borns:
“Fudge is a minister who was elected through proper channels, and I am a legitimate and compliant deputy minister. Our office has the authority to oversee seven subordinate departments. According to the law, the Executive Division has no power to propose a motion to remove me from office. Bones, you are not qualified!”

"The Executive Division does not have the authority to dismiss officials, but the Wizengamo Council does!"

Bornes also stood up, her tall figure towering over the pink toad. She pulled out a parchment document and said sternly:
“I have the authorization from the Chief of Wizengamot, with the signatures of half the wizards in the council, including Dumbledore and Madam Machiban. All that’s needed is an internal vote to remove you from your posts immediately!”

“Impossible!” Umbridge screamed, but dared not open the document.

The staff present all looked surprised. In their minds, Dumbledore spent most of his time in the headmaster's office, living a life of seclusion and detachment from power, even refusing to accept a ministerial appointment when it was presented to him.

This former principal would actually lead the effort to remove the current minister?

"I knew it... I knew it!"

Fudge, his face flushed red, cursed, his anger and embarrassment causing him to disregard his image: "He usually pretends to be a kind old wizard, but he actually wants power and fame. He appears indifferent to fame and fortune, but he is actually shrewd and calculating. He recommended me back then so that he could be manipulated!"

He let out a furious growl: "Now that I'm no longer willing to be his mouthpiece, he wants to remove me, you hypocritical old man!"

"Watch your words!"

Crouch frowned slightly. After all, he had been the head of the Ministry of Magic for several years, but he hadn't expected Fudge to be so incompetent: "This is the Ministry of Magic's meeting room, not a pub bar, Mr. Fudge..."

"What right do you have to talk to me like that! You're the one who raised..."

Fudge didn't finish his sentence. He regained some of his composure, sat in his seat, gritting his teeth, his chest heaving violently.

Crouch stared at him for a few seconds, remained silent for a moment, then turned to Ms. Burns and said in a low voice:

"Let's start voting now."

After the commotion subsided, the meeting room fell silent. Even the heated arguments among the senior officials couldn't change the current situation. The documents were on the table, the agenda was public, and past rights and wrongs were irrelevant; the voting results were what mattered.

"Law Enforcement Division, approved."

"The Accidents and Disasters Division objects."

"The Department of Fantastic Creatures objects."

"The Department of Mysteries abstains."

"The Department of Magical Transportation approves."

"Department of International Affairs and Cooperation, approved."

"..."

With three votes in favor, the decision of the Executive and Transport Divisions was as expected. Crouch, who had long been neutral, did not abstain again, which was not surprising given Fudge's harsh words just minutes earlier.

Fudge wiped the sweat from his forehead, his eyes filled with regret.

Two votes against. The Disaster Management Division was Fudge's stronghold, and the bribery of the Animal Management Division was also within the staff's expectations.

Umbridge suppressed her anger, a faint, fake smile appearing on her lips, revealing her small, sharp teeth, and once again striking that annoying girlish pose.

An abstention is standard procedure for the Department of Mysteries.

All eyes were focused on the sports department's position, and the silence seemed to grow even heavier. In a corner against the wall, Arthur and the others couldn't help but hold their breath.

Bagman raised his rough index finger, his blue eyes gleaming: "Department of Sports and Recreation, approved."

The brief words were like a crystal ball shattering on the ground, crisp and deafening. The staff remained silent, either staring at Fudge or at Ms. Burns. In the silence, Umbridge let out a piercing scream.

"no no!"

Umbridge broke down for a few seconds, then looked up at Bagman with a desperate expression: "Ludo, you're kidding, right? We clearly agreed that I would help you persuade the tournament committee, you promised me!"

"..."

When it comes to business, Mr. Levent is the real expert.

Bagman blinked, a knowing smile spreading across his face. "Yes, we agreed, but it's just a vote about the presiding judge." "What good is a presiding judge? We've all been removed!" Umbridge screamed angrily, her voice shrill and piercing.

"Silence!" Ms. Burns whispered.

The words that were originally spoken by Umbridge at the beginning of the show were now coming from another person's mouth, and most of the staff showed satisfied smiles.

The Fudge faction employees remained expressionless, unsure of how to greet them; the sudden turn of events left them bewildered.

“The vote is over. Based on the authority granted to me by the Wizarding Council and the Ministry of Magic, I hereby declare that Cornelius Fudge is hereby dismissed from all his posts, effective immediately…” Ms. Burns glanced at the two people in the main seats: “and Dolores Umbridge from all her duties.”

Fudge sat dejectedly in his seat with his head down, taking off his top hat to reveal sparse stubble, looking like a defeated rooster.

Umbridge's eyebrows drooped, and his gaze was noticeably more dejected.

"Now, please leave the conference room."

Fudge took a deep breath, forcing himself to stand up and leave. Umbridge, still unwilling to give up, gave Ms. Burns a slick smile and said in a trembling voice:
"Don't send me away! I have information that I can help you. I know evidence of Fudge's corruption and dereliction of duty!"

Upon hearing this, Fudge stopped at the door, turned around and glared angrily at the witch, but having learned his lesson, he didn't speak recklessly, and instead fell into a wronged silence.

Ms. Burns gave Umbridge a look of disgust. Fudge was indeed incompetent and a bit stupid, but he hadn't stooped to that level.

"Kingsley, get her out!"

……

Two powerful officials were dismissed, leaving a mess in the minister's office. After the meeting, all departments worked overtime to deal with the situation, and were extremely busy. After finishing his work, Tonks returned to the tavern next to the Hogsmeade Central Post Office during dinner time.

On the table sat a plate of fish and chips with two beer glasses, the butterbeer in the glasses bubbling warmly, and a slightly reserved wizard sat opposite him.

Friday's special lessons continued late into the night, and the professors caught up on sleep during the day. Some purchasing matters were left unresolved, which were originally Melvin's responsibilities, but he pushed them onto the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor under the pretext of attending tutoring classes.

"Remus, why don't you try jam with beer? It tastes really unique!"

Tonks sat across from him, grabbed a few fries, dipped them in different jams, picked up his butterbeer, and was quite satisfied with his post-work dinner.

"I've already eaten..."

Lupin sighed wistfully, "Tonks, you know what? The school had extra classes for the students on Fridays. I thought Melvin needed to rest, but when I got to the tavern, I read the newspaper and was shocked to learn that he had actually persuaded Headmaster Dumbledore to join forces with Ms. Burns to dismiss Fudge..."

"This meeting just happened to fall between the weekend and the end-of-month routine meeting, which not only caught you off guard, but also many staff members. Several ministers and Kingsley certainly know something, but no one can get anything out of them."

Tonks shrugged.

"Would you mind sharing some details about the upcoming meetings?"

"Of course, I'll tell you if you want to know."

Tonks took a sip of his butterbeer and, seeing Lupin's hesitant expression, casually waved his hand: "It's not classified information. It'll be released in the news soon. The department has decided to hold a public hearing for Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew's case this weekend before Valentine's Day. Ms. Burns will be the presiding judge. She'll be impartial and might hold Sirius accountable, but don't worry, she's not the kind of harsh wizard. At most, she'll impose a fine and compensation."

“As long as we don’t have to go back to Azkaban and pay any more fines, the Black family’s coffers can handle it…” Lupin put down his glass, looked at Tonks, wanted to say something, but didn’t know how to start.

"Okay, it's my turn."

Tonks, on the other hand, was much more forthright, talking as they ate without any restraint: "I've told you about the Ministry of Magic, now I need you to tell me about Hogwarts."

"Hmm, what happened to Hogwarts?"

"Where are the Dementors? Where are all those Dementors?"

Tonks spread his arms and gestured: "He was stationed in Hogsmeade for half a year and didn't go anywhere. You held a special teaching session and then disappeared. Don't tell me you didn't know and that it had nothing to do with you. Even a fool like Fudge wouldn't believe that."

"This one……"

Lupin couldn't lie to the girl, so he hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "I can't reveal the whereabouts of the Dementors, but I can promise you that they will not harm anyone else."

Tonks picked up her butterbeer and took a few sips, staring at him suspiciously. "Fine, if you don't want to say, then don't. It'll only give the higher-ups a headache. If Ms. Burns wants to know, let her ask Dumbledore herself."

Lupin nodded, a gentle smile on his face.

The butterbeer sizzled and bubbled, the fries on the plate were slowly dwindling, and some fried fish remained. The pub was still buzzing with discussion about the major news published in the newspapers. Lupin silently watched the girl eat; she had a very special air about her, perhaps cultivated by her unique family environment.

Andromeda is Narcissa's sister from Bellatrix and Sirius's cousin, yet she resolutely left her family to marry a Muggle-born wizard, and that courageous and decisive quality was passed on to Tonks.

After finishing dinner, Tonks burped, a slight blush tinged with playfulness: "Alright, I have to go back to work overtime."

"Wait..." Lu Ping's face showed that hesitant expression again.

“What?” Tonks looked at him.

“Your lips have hop foam on them,” Lupin pointed to his upper lip.

"Is this what you've been struggling with?" Tonks stood up, wiped his mouth, and grabbed a tissue to wipe it casually.

Watching her figure disappear into the fireplace, Lupin looked down and opened the newspaper on the table. The front page featured photos of Fudge and Umbridge, and the following section described Fudge's career.

His evaluation was impartial and fair. He performed well in his role in the Department of Disaster Management and was honest and kind, which was why Dumbledore recommended him for the position of minister. He was also conscientious and responsible for a period of time after becoming minister, but he was quickly corrupted by power.

Turning to the second page, the language suddenly becomes harsher, with uncompromising criticism—that was Umbridge's career.

Skipping over the reports that were tinged with personal emotions, the final summary is exceptionally concise:

"...Effective immediately, all bills drafted with the assistance of Dolores Umbridge are repealed, including the 'Prohibition of Muggle Articles Control Regulations,' the 'Limiting the Power of the Chief Executive and Expanding the Direct Jurisdiction of the Ministers Act,' the 'Werewolf Act,' the 'Foreign Wizards Entry Control Regulations,' and the 'Mirror Image Control Draft'..."

Lupin smiled as he looked at the list of names.
