Hogwarts: This professor is too Muggle.
Chapter 397 The Well-Known Secret
Chapter 397 The Well-Known Secret
By early November, the leaves of the willow tree had all turned yellow, and winter was still some time away.
The past few days have been overcast with neither rain nor sunshine, and the temperature has started to drop. Often, young wizards are late for their first class in the morning because they don't want to get out of bed in the cold.
Melvin sat in the main seat, looking up at the clouds through the skylight. There would probably be a short rainy season before winter officially arrived, and the seasonal flu would officially announce the arrival of the cold wave.
The Durmstrangers can withstand the cold, but the students of Beauxbatons and Ilfamoni are going to suffer.
"Christine, have Ms. Maxim stock up on some brain-clearing tonic; it's very effective for treating colds and fevers..."
"Remember to buy it from J. Pippin's Potions Shop. Mentioning Hogwarts will get you a discount. Don't wait until the students get the flu before buying in bulk, the shop owner is a shrewd businessman and will take the opportunity to raise prices."
Turning his head, Melvin began to ramble on as he imparted his experience to the visiting professor at Beauxbatons, completely ignoring the eye-roll that Principal Fontana was rolling on his face on the other side:
"You can also purchase it from Professor Snape. There is a course on mind-clearing potions in the seventh year. The potions brewed by the advanced students are of guaranteed quality and the price is cheaper."
Christine nodded as if she understood, but not quite. The principal of Beauxbatons was very responsible and didn't require ordinary professors to worry about school affairs. To her, this was quite a new topic.
"Doesn't Hogwarts' infirmary offer brain-boosting medication?"
"Ms. Pomfrey also keeps some in stock, but students and teachers from other schools need to pay for the consultation and medicine, which is more expensive than outside."
Principal Fontana couldn't take it anymore and couldn't help but exclaim, "Melvin, your juniors also need cheap and effective cold medicine!"
"Then why are you wandering around Hogsmeade all day, not even bothering to buy some medicines to stock up on? Are you waiting for someone to do all this schoolwork for you? And you didn't bring any accompanying professors with you this time."
Headmaster Fontana realized that this person was now a complete Hogwarts enthusiast, and felt a chill in his heart. He swallowed the rest of his sandwich, drank the milk in his glass, and left with a sigh.
Watching the principal's figure disappear into the distance, Christine put away her joking attitude and lowered her voice to whisper:
"Ms. Maxim went out on a date late last night with that professor of magizoology. They went to the hunting grounds in the mountains together. Did you know that?"
"Yes, the Romanian zookeeper notified me a long time ago."
Upon hearing the name Romania, Christine understood that Melvin had deliberately leaked the information about the dragon, and said with a smile:
"The lady didn't return until late at night. She hadn't slept all night and looked restless. As soon as the students got up, she immediately called a meeting with the warriors of Beauxbatons and told them that the first competition was about fire dragons. They were discussing how to do it in the dormitory."
"No wonder Furong didn't come to the auditorium for dinner; the boys all seemed a bit listless."
"Is it really okay to leak the details of the match in advance?" Christine asked with some concern.
"This is actually part of the rules, it's just not written in the manual. Knowing that you have to face the fire dragon in the competition and being able to calmly deal with it and think of countermeasures is a sign of courage."
"Isn't that unfair to other schools?"
"Do you think the other schools haven't found out about the fire dragon?"
Melvin looked toward the Slytherin table, the dining spot chosen by Durmstrang students. Another highly anticipated hero, Viktor Krum, was also absent today, much to the dismay of his little witch fans.
"Hagrid and Harry are good friends, they won't just stand by and watch him face a dragon without any preparation, and Mr. Karkaroff is a well-known smart man, he should be in the cabin trying to figure something out by now."
Melvin smiled. "Cheating is a fine tradition of the Flame Goblet Championship."
“What about Iphamoni?” Christine blinked.
Melvin paused, speechless for a moment.
The Gryffindor long table was bustling with activity. There was no communication barrier between Ilvermorny and Hogwarts students, who were discussing today's lessons. Seamus and Dean, among others, had invited them to sit in, saying that Muggle Studies and Defense Against the Dark Arts were particularly interesting.
While other schools are busy preparing for the competition, with principals and students brainstorming ways to deal with the fire dragon, they are still happily laughing, treating this as a study exchange.
Principal Fontana, participating in the competition for the first time, suffered from a lack of experience. ...
Harry and Hermione emerged from the library, their backpacks bulging with dragon-related materials:
Dragon species in Britain and Ireland
From Dragon Egg to Hell: A Guide to Raising Dragons
Raising dragons for entertainment and profit
"..."
They now somewhat understand Hagrid's mindset when he incubated Norbert, carefully searching for relevant information, trembling with fear, afraid that someone would notice something amiss.
"Mrs. Pince is too strict. She doesn't allow us to read the books in the restricted section, and she can't even borrow a few more books."
"That would require the professor's approval."
"Ugh……"
"Stop sighing, let's go, the Muggle Studies class is about to start."
With less than five minutes left before the school bell rang, the two carried their heavy schoolbags up the stairs and hurried to their classroom on the third floor. Despite the cool autumn weather, they were sweating profusely.
“We’re thinking of making you a support badge, what do you think, Cedric…”
A commotion arose at the corner of the stairs; it was Cedric and his group of sixth-grade classmates rushing to Professor Flitwick's Charms class.
Harry was surrounded by friends, having a lively and fun time, which made him a little envious. His best friend was currently having a falling out with him.
A few thoughts flashed through Harry's mind. He wanted to remind Cedric, but for some private reasons, he didn't want to speak to him in front of many people.
Harry suddenly stopped in his tracks: "Hermione, go to the classroom and save me a seat. I'll be right there."
Hermione glanced at Cedric in front of her, nodded, and said nothing.
Taking advantage of another turn on the stairs, Harry timed it perfectly, drew his wand, and unleashed a Split Charm.
With a crash, Cedric's schoolbag fell apart, scattering stationery and books all over the floor, shattering several bottles of ink, and dragging him to the stair landing.
"This backpack is a bit old, I didn't expect it to break down now."
If someone else had encountered such bad luck, they would probably have cursed their bad luck, but Cedric only looked slightly anxious, calmly squatted down to tidy up, and didn't forget to tell a few friends:
"Don't wait for me, just tell Professor Flitwick I'll be there soon..."
This guy definitely fits the Warriors' standards better.
Harry put away his wand and waited until everyone else had left, leaving only him and Cedric on the stairs. Then he quietly went over and helped Cedric clean up the mess.
"Oh, hello Harry, you go to class now."
“Cedric, the first project is the dragon.”
"what?"
"It's a dragon."
