Knight Lords: Infinite Simulation and the Path of Light
Chapter 4: Fighting for Justice!
Chapter 4: Fighting for Justice!
"Father!"
The previously heated argument in the conference room gradually quieted down after that sound.
Kevin Hylan, whose body was wrapped in bandages, turned his head to look over.
"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be on your way to get help?"
The Earl of Hyland, now over fifty, had lost his former majesty. He was surrounded by nobles and knights who had fled from the surrounding territories.
The seemingly out-of-the-box Church of Death dealt a heavy blow to the Highland Territory, forcing the White Lion Legion to fight without knowing the enemy's situation.
A quarter of them were wiped out, if it weren't for Earl Kevin risking his life to repel the dragon that was rampaging through the cavalry.
The mighty White Lion Legion, which once dominated the North, is likely to become history, for which Earl Kevin paid a heavy price.
What kind of help are you asking for?
Haven smiled, gathered his loose platinum blonde hair, and handed the helmet to Taren, who was following behind.
"The nearest reinforcements to us are from the Marquis of Rohan. Let's not even talk about whether I can get them. Even if I do, there probably won't be a single survivor in Hailan Territory by the time I return."
Earl Kevin frowned as he looked at his son.
"What nonsense are you talking about! Don't be willful!"
Haven waved his hand, then looked at everyone in the conference room.
"Gentlemen, you're not planning to run away, are you? What do you say, Lord Mori?"
He glanced at Earl Morrie sitting beside his father, and the other nobles from the destroyed territories. Before anyone could react, Haven continued speaking to himself.
"Death taught me to look through the files and remember that the main area of activity was in the southern provinces, but now it has suddenly appeared in the northern border, and has gathered so many people, oh! and a dragon."
Tsk tsk tsk! We're not far from the Ama defense line, and it's going to snow in less than two months!
"What exactly are you trying to say? This is a military meeting, not a place where a child like you can act recklessly."
Earl Kevin was getting a little irritated. What was wrong with his son, who usually didn't care about anything, today? He was being completely rude.
"Please let me finish!"
Haven walked a few steps to the map of the North, which was now covered with all sorts of icons.
"Let me see! Yes, this is it!"
Haven pointed to a circled spot, then turned to a tall, thin, middle-aged nobleman beside him, and after recalling the man's name, said...
"Lord Sisyphus, I remember that the army of the dead first breached your territory, didn't they?"
Sissey Moor was caught off guard by Haven's question and looked a little embarrassed. Seeing everyone turn to look at him, he answered awkwardly.
"That's how it is, but so what? The next day, Baron Raven's territory also fell."
"Ah! Please don't get agitated. I'm not saying this for any other reason than to emphasize something. From the time this happened until now, when the Death Cult is at the city gates, only five short days have passed."
The force has grown rapidly from less than a hundred people initially to its current size. Yet, during the meeting, you are still arguing endlessly. Perhaps by the time you, sirs, have finalized a concrete plan, the enemy will have already converted every living creature they can. If we are unable to eliminate the army of the dead, then the Amarr defenses ahead will be isolated and helpless. Even worse, if the Orcish Empire launches an offensive in winter and the Amarr defenses are breached, then what awaits you, sirs, will likely be nothing more than fleeing without a fight, abandoning your territories, and being hanged.”
The meeting room fell silent for a moment, everyone stunned by Haven's bold statement.
After a long pause, Earl Morrie, sitting in the middle, slowly spoke.
"My son, excellent strategic vision. The ability to prepare for the worst is a crucial quality of a military strategist. Kevin, you've nurtured Havent very well."
Count Hylan, sitting next to him, nodded and smiled at his old comrade-in-arms, patted him on the shoulder in apology.
Count Maurice picked up his wine glass from the table and clinked it against his old friend's, then stood up, walked to Havent's side, and slapped his hand on the map.
"What you're saying won't happen. We will concentrate our forces and completely annihilate them. Victory belongs to the North!"
Haven wanted to say something more, but by then the atmosphere in the conference room had become so lively that no one was paying attention to him anymore.
With no other option, Haven turned and left the meeting room for the third time. Hopefully, if they stayed a fourth time, they could put up some semblance of resistance.
The third time, Haven did not choose to launch a midnight attack. After all, the result of the first attack had already proven that his own attack squad alone could not complete the decapitation plan. Therefore, the timeline could only be pushed back further, to before his father died in battle.
This time, Haven didn't wait for his father to die in battle before passively accepting everything. Instead, he chose to take the initiative. With Haven's patient analysis, his father finally accepted his fishing plan. He also avoided the fate of inheriting the throne without a father.
By utilizing the castle's terrain, we can lure the enemy's strongest forces into the city. If we can separate the dragon from its controller and then defeat them separately, things will be much easier.
However, as the fierce siege unfolded, the heavily weakened White Lion Legion was utterly powerless against the endless hordes of undead. Ultimately, in a suicidal attack by their father, the high-ranking mage Solis, and several high-ranking knights, they perished together with the dragon.
However, by this time, a huge breach had appeared in the castle due to the dragon's attack, and countless undead ghouls poured in through the breach.
With no remaining manpower, Haven led his remaining dozen or so followers in a fierce battle for a long time before finally collapsing in front of the teleportation array.
Thinking back to the final moments, when Taren led his remaining troops to fight off the ghouls, hoping to escape through the teleportation array, Haven rubbed his aching brow.
"Taren, where is the teacher now?"
The knight commander, standing behind Havent and adjusting his sword, quickly answered when he heard his young master's question.
"Young Master, Lord Solis should be at the Bonnege Magic Tower right now. Lord Kevin is seriously injured, and the death aura of the dragon still lingers in his body."
Ah, right, that's it.
The second situation of mutual destruction was caused by the fact that the father's fighting spirit was constantly affected by the death energy of the demonic dragon, resulting in the obstruction of the flow of fighting spirit when he used combat techniques.
Seeing that the dragon was about to fly away from the castle, they had no choice but to self-destruct.
"Let's go to the Magic Tower. I have something to discuss with Lord Solis."
As I reached the corner of the stairs, a burst of loud shouts erupted from the conference room.
"For the Ingis! For the North! For honor!"
For the light! For justice!
Fight! Fight! Fight to the death!
...
Listening to the sounds coming from the conference room, Haven, who was walking in front, shook his head. If he hadn't experienced it for the third time, he would have believed it himself.
