Chapter 7 The Battle of Whiterun Part 2
Chapter 7 The Battle of Whiterun Part 2
'Ready! Release. Next group, ready! Release.'
Swarms of ghouls and demons swept across the mountains and plains, attacking Whiterun City.
Arrows whizzed down from the city wall, and the undead ghouls at the front collapsed to the ground like tattered sacks, their bodies riddled with arrows. The ghouls behind them continued forward, stepping over the fallen flesh.
"Damn it, these heretics, of all times they had to come at this time."
Earl Kevin lay on the city wall, watching the undead ghouls clinging to it and climbing upwards. Normally, he would have brought the White Lion Legion to wipe out these evil creatures long ago.
But now it just so happens to be my turn to rotate troops. The troops I'm stationed at the Amma defense line should not arrive for another two days, and the troops waiting to return from the Amma defense line for rotation have not yet set off.
This rare window of opportunity had been seized, and what his son had said a few hours earlier made even the seasoned Earl of Hylan feel uneasy.
"This is too much of a coincidence. While the timing of the switch isn't exactly a secret, this timing is just too precise."
Is someone really collaborating with heretics? Or is it an operation by the North? Who could it be?
Count Hylan surveyed the nobles standing on the city wall, who were all directing their knights and personal guards to attack the undead ghouls below.
"What are you looking at, Kevin?"
Count Morley walked over from the other side of the city wall, the thick smoke turning the usually pampered nobleman's face black.
“Nothing, Hardaway. I was just thinking about what my son said a few hours ago.”
Seeing that there were no immediate issues, Kevin plopped down on a wooden crate nearby. Count Morrie took the wine pouch from his waist and handed it to Kevin.
What did your son say?
By the way, what about that little guy? He was quite interesting, if it weren't for what he said in the meeting room just now.
"We didn't have so many reinforcements before, but things are much better now. We just need to wait for the Dawnguard to arrive."
Kevin took a sip of the liquor from the pouch, frowned, and smacked his lips.
"Hey, Hardaway. When did you start drinking stuff that only women drink?"
The sticky taste of the mead made Count Hyland somewhat dissatisfied, so he put the cork back on and threw it back.
"Havent told me he felt the war was full of oddities. In his words, although he couldn't pinpoint exactly what was wrong, the fact that there was no problem was the biggest problem."
Count Morrie accepted the mead without the slightest disgust, uncorked it, and took a sip.
"Oh? That's an interesting point!"
Your son seems much wiser than you, which is a lot like Louise.
What else did he say?
Kevin looked up at the sun; there were still two hours until nightfall, and the shouts of battle from the city walls were still deafening.
"He said the Church of Death had been appearing more frequently in the southern provinces before. But this time it broke out in our northern territory without any warning."
And the fact that it attracted tens of thousands of people in just a few days is too fast.
Oh, and they even converted a dragon into an undead. Did you know that a dragon actually fell in the North? Haddaway…
Count Morrie felt a little discomfort in his neck, so he took off his helmet and shook his head from side to side.
"I'm not sure. Maybe it's from the previous war. You know, we in the North have had too many wars with the Orc Empire."
"It might be a remnant of that great war; these damned heretics should all be nailed to the holy pillar."
His light brown hair, wet and sticking to his face, was extremely uncomfortable. Count Morrie shook his head in annoyance; this damned accident had disrupted his plans.
"Not only that, besides the speed, there's also the timing. The personnel rotation of the White Lion Legion and your trip to the capital to report for duty—these times weren't exactly secrets, but they just happened at this particular point in time."
Following Earl Hylan's words, Hadaway sat on the wooden box and looked at the other nobles seeking refuge with his triangular eyes.
"Yeah~ It seems some people can't stand being alone. Let's see if they have the ability."
Go and rest. I'll keep watch. The Dawn Guards will be here the day after tomorrow, and time is very tight for them too.
"I'm too old to fight anymore, you'll have to do it for me tonight."
On the other side of the city wall, a tall, thin knight in black armor watched the two people sitting on a wooden box talking in the distance, and only turned back when he saw Earl Hylan walk down the city wall.
"Lord Dalot, come quick! The ghouls are attacking from here."
Hearing someone call him, the black-armored knight quickly walked to the wall, picked up the oil drums next to him, and threw them down. Several oil drums directly smashed down the undead ghouls that had climbed halfway up the wall.
The soldiers nearby quickly lit their arrows and fired them down, instantly turning the area below into a sea of fire.
Seeing that they had repelled the attack, the soldiers on the city wall cheered.
Dalot, who was perched on the battlements, looked down at the burning fire and casually took an iron ball from his waist pocket and threw it down.
The study on the third floor of the Magic Tower.
Having finished reading the entire book, Haven scratched the back of his head; the book only provided a vague answer.
"What does 'awakening the original body' mean? And how it's awakened isn't explained at all."
However, considering the content of several other books, killing the cultivator controlling the demonic dragon is indeed one method, if that's the case.
With this in mind, Haven had a rough plan in mind. He picked up a few books from the table and planned to discuss the plan with his teacher.
Stepping out of the room, I glanced at the sun. There was still an hour until sunset, so I had to hurry.

Ten death monks dressed in black robes were kneeling at the edge of a huge, blood-red magic circle.
In the center of the magic circle was a giant dragon with a broken body. As the light from the magic circle grew brighter, the green light on the dragon's body also grew brighter.
At this moment, only half of the sun hung on the horizon above the mountain range.
"Lord Alan, the ritual is complete. The power of death should be enough for us to breach this castle."
The man in the black robe standing in the main seat took off his hood, and his gray and dry hair was blown about by the evening wind. His cheeks were devoid of any flesh, and his eye sockets were deeply sunken, making him look like a dried corpse.
Alan looked at the giant dragon in the magic circle and let out a dull laugh that sounded like wood rubbing together.
"Hehehe~
Embrace death, for everyone finds salvation in it.
Attack! Rescue the survivors ahead!
The path of death guides us.
The demonic dragon that had been lying on the magic circle struggled to its feet and slowly flew into the sky.
