Chapter 325 The Object of Showing Off
Chapter 325 The Object of Showing Off
"What are you doing here, senior?" Jun Matsue walked up to the girls.
With many people watching nearby, he chose to stand next to Natsumi Imokawa and join the conversation, so that no one would find it strange if they saw him.
“Because Natsumi just took a picture of our class,” Yami Maki smiled. “So I came here to take a look.”
"There's a strange atmosphere in the senior's class," the girl said earnestly, raising her camera. The boys standing next to her and the senior sitting nearby all crowded around.
"So it turns out your class had the senior students carrying the flag themselves." Jun Matsue looked at the screen, his eyes glancing at the girl's flowing black hair on the other side.
Yamami Maki walked alone at the front of the entrance procession, waving a light pink flag with a large, sparkling diamond painted on it, seemingly symbolizing the girl herself who was walking at the forefront of the crowd and attracting attention.
So, the senior's stamina is pretty good too. Looking at the girl waving the flag vigorously, he suddenly started to think.
Among the top students he knew, Yamami-senpai seemed to have the best physique, Tomatsu Yuka's stamina was only average, and Kuroba Shin was a gamer who also got seasick, so her stamina was obviously not good.
Maki Yami was even able to put up a good fight against Haruka Mochizuki in last year's tennis tournament, only narrowly losing.
Not only does she possess the temperament of a Yamato Nadeshiko (ideal Japanese woman), with her words and actions as gentle as a spring breeze, but she also excels academically, is skilled in playing wind instruments, and is equally adept in sports.
"As expected, my senior is just too perfect." He couldn't help but sigh softly.
Yamami Maki's bright eyes crinkled into crescent moons with laughter before she snapped out of her daze, "What's Matsueda-san saying~"
The person holding the camera nodded. "Songzhi is right."
Perhaps it was because Natsumi Imokawa was there that the two of them relaxed their guard like this; the girl just had this special, harmless aura.
"I'm going to the broadcasting department next door." Yamami Maki chose to leave before her cheeks burned.
"Does the senior have any competitions?" Natsumi Imokawa stared at the girl's back, then turned around and asked Jun Matsueda, thinking that Matsueda would probably know.
"There are only team events in the afternoon." Jun Matsue flipped through the program booklet on the table. The morning events were the track and field events he had signed up for, and Haruka Mochizuki's high jump event. The afternoon events were the team competitions.
Although Japan's sports meet has many different activities, it basically ends in one day. There are no group stage or qualifying rounds in the schedule, so the competitiveness is much weaker than that of China.
"Let's take pictures of the pine branch competition first." The girl nodded and put down her camera.
The two chatted for a short while before Tomatsu Yuka came over from the other side. Before walking into the sunshade, the girl glanced at the broadcasting station next door.
There were quite a few people at the broadcasting club. The younger girls were laughing and joking around the microphone. Yami Maki was standing behind the crowd talking to the club president. Noticing the girl's gaze, she smiled and greeted her.
Tomatsu Yuka waved to her senior and walked under the sunshade, seemingly maintaining a safe distance, as the girl thought.
If she had arrived a few minutes earlier, she probably wouldn't have thought that way.
"Matsueda forgot your bib number!" She handed the boy a folded piece of white fabric. "Luckily, someone saw you coming this way to the news department."
"Sorry, I really forgot about that." Jun Matsue took the bib number and pinned it to his chest with a paperclip. The two girls watched as he lifted his shirt, revealing the lines of his waist.
After the bibs were pinned on, the girls shook their heads slightly in regret. Imokawa Natsumi, who was sitting in her seat, exchanged a glance with the girl standing in front of her, and then timidly looked away.
A pleasant female voice echoed over the loudspeaker that resounded throughout the playground, reminding the athletes to prepare for check-in.
"Is it almost time for Matsueda's match?" Tomatsu Yuka blinked.
"Just wait until this group of men finishes the 100 meters."
Matsueda Jun signed up for the 400-meter and 1500-meter races. He only signed up for running because events like the long jump and high jump require certain skills, while running is the sport with the lowest barrier to entry. After all, he wanted to show off his skills to his senior. It was a pity there was no 3000-meter race. Matsueda Jun was very confident in his endurance.
"Good luck, Matsu! I'll be waiting for you at the finish line with water. If you get tired or anything, just come find me right away!" Tomatsu Yuka picked up the water bottle the boy had placed on the table, her tone very serious.
The girl was always like this. Even though she knew that Matsueda Jun was in good physical condition, she would still worry about what might happen. It was because of this that she rushed to Matsueda Jun's side as soon as possible when the Hokkaido earthquake occurred.
"Then I'll leave it to you." Jun Matsueda walked towards the check-in area, with Yuka Tomatsu following behind him.
Standing among the broadcasting club members, Yamami Maki wore a polite smile as she dealt with the chattering junior students. The girl's gaze drifted into the distance, watching the two figures disappear into the distance.
"The men's 400-meter race is about to begin. All athletes, please take your positions as soon as possible!"
The crowd was evenly distributed along the inside and outside of the track. The following races were all long-distance races. Even if you weren't standing at the finish line, there was still a lot to watch. Yamami Maki and Imokawa Natsumi stood at the bend, watching the boys in dark blue tracksuits on the starting line.
"Matsueda, why are you participating this year?!" Standing next to him, Sugisaki felt that his last sanctuary had vanished.
"Because I have a very good memory," Jun Matsueda said, stretching on the track. "Didn't you say you wanted to race me in the 400 meters?"
"I already have a girlfriend, why would I compete with you?" the boy said helplessly. His girlfriend, who was in the same class as him, was standing by the track, cheering him on.
"Matsue, how about you add some water later?" Sugisaki whispered to him.
"Give me a reason." Jun Matsueda smiled as he looked at the end of the straight track—Maki Yami's figure quietly appeared behind Yuka Tomatsu at the starting line.
"Because I promised my girlfriend I'd get first place," the boy said helplessly. "Huizi always takes care of me like an older sister, and I wanted to show her my cool side too."
"Then run as fast as you can." Jun Matsue looked at the starter making the preparation gesture and bent down.
"Giving it your all is cool enough."
"If you had said that last year, I probably would have let you have it."
"What do you mean?" Sugisaki, who was sitting in the front, turned around curiously.
"preparation!"
The cheers from the sidelines quieted down. Jun Matsue braced his hands on the ground, raised his heels, and prepared for the explosive burst of energy when he kicked off.
"Because now, I also have someone I want to show off to."
Sugisaki didn't hear the boy's last words because the gunshot had already rang out, and the two rushed off the track almost at the same time, without creating much of a gap between them.
Given the chance, he had barely entertained this thought when he discovered that, with his full power unleashed, the gap between himself and those around him not only failed to narrow but began to widen desperately.
It seemed he wouldn't be able to get first place. Sugisaki remained calm, and as he prepared to slow down, he remembered what Matsueda Jun had just said.
Giving it your all is cool enough.
His muscles tensed again, and he sprinted toward the leading dark blue car.
"Matsugi, you deserve to die."
