Chapter 590 Solution
Chapter 590 Solution
Temperatures rose rapidly in early June, and even with cloudy skies and showers, the forecast stubbornly hovered around 27 or 28 degrees Celsius.
"This weather is unbearably hot..." Ken Sakamuro stood next to the ice cream vending machine, constantly waving his hand to fan himself.
"It's not even 30 degrees yet." Jun Matsue put coins into the vending machine, bent down, and put his hand into the dispensing slot.
"Someone like you who plays ball and sweats every day, would you be afraid of the heat?"
"I'm not playing ball right now, so I can't enjoy myself at all!" the boy complained, until Jun Matsueda handed him an ice cream.
The two entered the stairwell, and the younger students quickly passed by them. Ken Sakamuro scratched his cheek, feeling gazes piercing through his head and looking at the boy walking beside him.
He nudged the boy's arm with his elbow. "Songzhi, you haven't been in the limelight much lately, so why are so many people still paying attention to you?"
"Just out of curiosity, I guess." Jun Matsueda said calmly, carrying a plastic bag containing ice cream.
"Being good-looking really makes a difference," Ken Sakamuro remarked. The two walked into the fourth floor, where the noise subsided considerably.
"Are you still getting love letters from people?"
The boy shook his head. "Not many left. I'll occasionally find one or two in the shoe cabinet."
"Is it because everyone knows you're dating Tomatsu now?" Sakamuro guessed. "Only someone like Tomatsu can keep other girls in check."
But even Tomatsu doesn't seem to be able to control everyone... He thought of the rich girl in his class who sat by the window—besides chatting with other girls, she seemed to only talk to Matsueda Jun.
"Hey, Matsue, what do you think about Mochizuki dating you?" the boy suddenly asked boldly.
"...What do you mean, what are you thinking?"
"She's interested in you too, isn't she? Doesn't she react to your relationship with Tomatsu?"
Although Ken Sakamuro is a guy whose only focus is basketball, he still knows a little bit about the situation in the class.
Jun Matsueda glanced at him. "I don't know. Why don't you go ask her yourself?"
The boy chuckled awkwardly, pushed open the back door of the classroom, and gestured for students to come in.
As Jun Matsue entered the classroom, the cool air dispelled the slight restlessness in his heart. The girl sitting by the window looked up, as if recognizing the familiar footsteps.
Ignoring the winks and jeers from those around him, the boy sat down in his seat, placed the plastic bag on the table, and looked at the girl sitting to his left.
"We're out of hazelnut chocolate. What do you want: mint chocolate or original vanilla?"
Mochizuki Haruka wrinkled her nose, her black hair gleaming in the sunlight. "I don't like mint, it tastes like toothpaste."
"Here's the vanilla flavor," the boy said, handing over an ice cream cone.
The girl reached out and took it, elegantly lifting the ice cream cone lid with the tip of her fingernail, and licking the remaining ice cream on the thin paper lid with the tip of her tongue.
This wasn't originally a habit of the eldest daughter of the Mochizuki family; she simply learned it after seeing Matsue do it a few times.
Jun Matsue turned to look at the other side, where Yuka Tomatsu was writing and drawing on her notebook, seemingly oblivious to the interaction between the two people next to her.
"Yuka, would you like some ice cream?"
The boy took out the third ice cream cone hidden in the bag; it was honeydew melon flavor, a flavor the girl often ate.
Mochizuki Haruka, licking her ice cream and opening her book, turned her head, a hint of dissatisfaction appearing in her eyes—Matsue had come downstairs because she wanted ice cream, but she ended up bringing one back for Tomatsu too.
Tomatsu Yuka only looked up at this moment, revealing a perfectly timed smile.
"Sure~ Thank you, Jun-kun." She put down her pen, took the ice cream cone, and gently tore off the wrapper. "I have an idea about the question you asked me in the last class."
"So fast?" The boy raised an eyebrow. "I'm still thinking about how to divide this three-dimensional object."
"It wasn't that fast," the girl smiled. "I was secretly thinking about it during class."
"Does Chun-kun want to hear it now?"
"Yes." Jun Matsue nodded immediately, while the girl sitting by the window behind him silently craned her neck.
"Then can you get me the ice cream?" Tomatsu Yuka smiled and came over, stuffing the ice cream cone into the boy's hand.
She moved her chair to Jun Matsueda's desk, then took her own notebook and sat down next to him, their arms touching.
“Tsun-kun finds it difficult to solve, probably because he spends too much time on spatial imagination.”
The girl lowered her head, the tip of her pen touching her own handwriting, "Actually, we can slice the triangle along dx, and first calculate the area swept by line segment PQ in the yz plane at each x point..."
The boy hesitated for a moment, not paying attention to the soft warmth of her against his forearm—after changing into summer short-sleeved shirts with ear loops and sailor uniforms, their skin could now be pressed together without any obstruction.
Is the volume element simply the area multiplied by dx?
“That’s right~” Tomatsu Yuka nodded with a smile, “Tsun-kun grasped it very quickly.”
Jun Matsue picked up his pen to write the equation. The girl didn't say anything, but just quietly watched him, occasionally taking a bite of the ice cream cone the boy was holding in his left hand.
Her black hair brushed against the boy's arm, making him feel a little itchy.
"Do you know what everyone in the class has been talking about lately?" Jun Matsue asked softly as he wrote.
Tomatsu Yuka looked up and blinked, somewhat puzzled. "These past two days, they've probably been discussing the school trip, right?"
"Whether it's Izu or Niigata, no one knows yet. When we asked Mitani, she just said it was a secret."
The boy nodded, indicating that he understood, and looked at the final formula he had written.
"It can indeed be calculated, but I don't understand why it's interpreted that way; I'm just guessing."
The girl smiled. "Actually, it's easy to understand—"
She was speaking when a shadow fell across the desk between them. Jun Matsue turned around, and Haruka Mochizuki stood up beside his desk. The girl stood with her back to the bright sunlight streaming through the window, holding a pen and paper in her arms.
“I want to hear too.” She pulled up a chair and sat down next to the boy on the other side.
"Pine branch, don't turn your back to me, you can't see the question."
"..."
Looking at the girl's serious expression, Jun Matsue didn't know what to say—the Mochizuki Haruka who used to attend two extra classes every day was long gone. Now, besides listening to lectures and doing homework, she didn't put in any extra effort.
"What's wrong?" Noticing his gaze, Mochizuki Haruka pursed her lips. "Can't I listen?"
“Of course, no problem.” Tomatsu Yuka gave a friendly smile before the boy could speak.
"If Mochizuki-san wants to hear it, then listen to it together."
