Chapter 56 Connections [Please continue reading]

Tai Ping Chau, the Animal Gang.

Angie has been feeling uneasy lately. Although she had prepared for the upcoming power struggle within the animal gang, the gap between her and other factions is still quite significant.

She felt like an outsider in this beast tribe, somewhat out of place. Her power was relatively weak among the animal gangs in Taiping Continent—but her confidants were loyal enough to make her prepared for a desperate fight.

Angie is intelligent, daring, and knows how to win people over. These are the reasons why the Animal Gang, who rely on strength, tolerates her.

[Incoming caller: Rin]

Angie threw down the baseball bat in her hand, walked around the smoky office, and went out to answer the phone.

Rin spoke first, "Ms. Angie, have you been sleeping well lately?"

Angie looked at the dilapidated old buildings on Taiping Island, adjusted her hat brim, and snorted coldly, "If Mr. Lin can kill Aye within this week, believe me, I will sleep better."

Rin seemed not to understand Angie's dissatisfaction. "We've found out where Aye is. I'll send someone to get his travel information soon and find a suitable place to take care of him. But that's not what I'm here to talk about today, Ms. Angie."

Angie looked puzzled. "What is it?"

Lin laughed and asked, "Are there many people fighting in underground boxing matches in Dogtown?"

Angie touched her forehead. "Not many. I only have a dozen or so boxers. What's wrong?"

Rin: "Dozens of prosthetic arms, [Kung Fu Behavior Chips], what? Are you preparing to build an army of underground boxers?"

Angie was completely fed up. "What I need is for you to help me get rid of Aye, and then you take the money and help me smuggle the prosthetic body into Dogtown—"

“No, you should know very well that there is a very high chance that these prosthetic bodies will be used to benefit others when they are transported into Dogtown. I guess... your chances of winning are probably less than 10 percent.” Rin let out a long breath. “Since you want me to help you settle this matter, I think you should explain the details completely so that I can help you.”

After a long silence, Angie said somewhat dejectedly, "It's not that I don't want to, but you know the price... This is all the money I have in the Animal Gang, and there's really no way to get Mr. Rin to do any more."

Rin: "What if I don't charge extra?"

Angie was stunned.

“I will definitely help you get rid of it, Aye. The new Dogtown Animal Gang member is in place ahead of schedule, I will help you negotiate – you can still become the accountant in Dogtown… You can’t finish all the prosthetics, Hansen’s people are watching the stadium. Small-scale operations are fine, but this batch is too large. If the price is lowered a bit, I can contact individual prosthetic doctors to ship the goods.”

Angie gritted her teeth, "How exactly do you know all this?"

"You don't need to worry about that. All you need to know is to cooperate with me and put your mind at ease."

Rin's voice was calm, as if she were talking about something trivial.

"Damn..." Angie paced back and forth, hands on her hips, "Lowering prices carries risks—"

Rin interrupted him, "No, you just don't earn enough. I have a little suggestion for you... You can have the underground boxers pay for the prosthetic body in installments, I'll take a portion for you, and let your people have some autonomy over the rest, finding individual buyers in Dogtown to dump it. As long as it doesn't go into the stadium, everything is negotiable."

Angie held the phone and suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.

If this mysterious Mr. Rin knows so much, does that mean...?

"Uh, I'm sorry, Mr. Rin, there's something I'd like to tell you beforehand." Angie gritted her teeth; she was smart enough to know when to admit her mistake.

Lin laughed and said, "Isn't it something you did by betting on both sides?"

Angie's expression froze on her face.

Rin: "I don't really mind. It's just that I crossed the line, both morally and logically. It's understandable that you readily transferred the money to me and then found other middlemen to help you—but what I'm talking to you about now is a 100% deal, including after-sales service." Rin was very confident.

“Then sir, you…” Angie’s tone changed as well.

“Let’s reshuffle the deck. Your new boss in the Animals Gang will just take his money. The prosthetics business is expanding. I’ll only ask for the initial price. All subsequent Dogtown Animals Gang commissions and your connections’ commissions will be handled by me… You don’t need to worry about Hans anymore.”

After Rin finished stating his demands, Angie immediately thought that the other party was very shrewd, not to mention this mysterious person's intelligence network, but also his long-term business acumen and commitment to contracts. "I agree."

Rin: "That would be perfect."

……

After replying to Sasha's message on her phone, Rebecca leaned against Mann's car door with a long face.

She didn't mention that Lin Yue had settled things for the company because she was afraid that revealing it would only cause her teammates to back down—it was true that the company's work was lucrative, but it was also dangerous.

After all, there's not much transparency in the company's operations; middlemen don't like to say everything, they're all a bunch of shrewd operators.

Therefore, Night City Daredevil Company mainly hires guys who have become familiar faces in the afterlife.

I wonder how things are going at Lin Yue's company. Rebecca called earlier to ask, but that jerk hung up on her. It makes me so angry!
Rebecca only breathed a sigh of relief after Mr. Rin gave them the details of the mission, leaving them waiting with heavy hearts.

This at least proves that Lin Yue is still able to complete the entrusted tasks without losing any limbs.

"Is Lin Yue dead at home?" Pila thought the sun in Dogtown was a bit too bright, not much different from the Badlands. It didn't make sense for a whole bunch of people to be waiting for a young mercenary.

Rebecca's appearance caught Dorio's attention.

This burly woman was actually the one in charge of intelligence analysis and mission command for this team before, but Lin Yue has now taken her place. However, she is indeed very meticulous and observant.

"Didn't you sleep well? Get in the car and lie down for a while." Dorio patted Rebecca on the shoulder.

Rebecca put her hands in her pockets, shook her head, and her ponytail swayed back and forth.

“You can’t use heavy weapons anymore. This prosthetic arm isn’t strong enough. If you keep using the old gun, your arm will break down sooner or later… Try using light weapons,” Dorio suggested to Rebecca.

Upon hearing this, Rebecca grinned mischievously, clenched her fist, and flexed her muscles. Her sleeve slipped down, revealing a visible misalignment at the connection point of her prosthetic arm.

Seemingly noticing Dorio's gaze, Rebecca looked somewhat embarrassed and withdrew her arm in dissatisfaction. "This thing is awful; it should have been a gorilla arm—"

The words are not finished yet.

"What did you say?!" Pila craned his neck, looking down at his younger sister with a mocking expression. "You bastard, didn't you say you looked down on my cool prosthetic arm? Oh dear, what's going on? Turns out you said you didn't want it, but you actually wanted a big one!"

"You're just like that jerk, complaining that my prosthetic body is too over-the-top, but then you went and showed off your own awesome stuff without saying a word..."

Rebecca gritted her teeth and listened to Pila's taunts with her head down, the veins next to her temples throbbing incessantly, while the voice of some unsuspecting guy grew increasingly noisy.

Dorio waved helplessly and left to talk to Mann. The next second, Rebecca stomped hard on Pira's foot.

"Fuck you!" Pila's face instantly turned red, and he cursed incessantly, baring his teeth.

Just as everyone was making a ruckus, Lin Yue, who was turning the corner in the distance, put his phone in his pocket and waved to his teammates with a smile.

Rebecca sneered, "I thought you were dead."

I have to say, stepping on that guy's foot really released a lot of my emotions.

When Lin Yue told her last time that it was none of her business, his jerk-like behavior made Rebecca's teeth itch, so she didn't give him a friendly look.

Lin Yue laughed heartlessly, "I had some things to take care of, sorry."

Pila sat on the ground, hugging her feet. She glanced at Rebecca, who had turned her face away, then at Lin Yue, who was just grinning like an idiot. Her expression was strange...

Hey, hey, hey, no way, really?
