Chapter 71 Ambition [Please continue reading]
Scorching, twisting, and shrouded in layers of flames, Mann watched as those people screamed and struggled with all their might.
This is not a dream; it is a fact that Mann witnessed firsthand, a bloody crime.
Mann only mentioned his past to Dorio:
Mann's childhood was a mix of happiness and hardship. He had no father, and his mother raised him by singing jazz songs. The frail Mann was often bullied by his classmates, and the only thing that left him with dignity was his dark skin, because the color could cover up the dirt and dirty wounds.
He never complained. His mother had said that true strength comes from inner strength, and he believed in that.
He's done a lot of things: he's a thug, he fights in underground boxing matches, he equips his right hand with the latest and most fashionable weapon, and punches his opponent into a pulp.
I've also worked in security, and I've taken down four or five new American soldiers...
To be honest, he was terrified that what happened in that village would repeat itself. The cyber madman in the Japanese street seemed to be just like those villagers, struggling in the fire, unable to escape the fate of death.
"Deng Deng Deng~"
Someone tapped on the table in front of Mann, interrupting his thoughts. Gloria was sitting in front of him.
Gloria picked up the bag behind her; inside, the prosthetic body, contained in a transparent soft plastic bag, was still submerged in a clear red liquid.
"Why haven't you been answering the phone lately? Damn it, do you know how difficult these things are to handle?" Gloria looked around anxiously. Her children couldn't see these things. She had been racking her brains every day to hide this prosthetic body, and finally, the formal transaction had arrived.
Mann came alone. Gloria's last shipment went to Dogtown, and she didn't make much money, but it was better than nothing.
But this shipment is different; it was ordered by Mann for Gloria to smuggle it from a cyber lunatic in the Watson district.
"Is this the projectile launching system I wanted? I heard... you've already contacted a new cyberpunk group?" Mann took the backpack without any hesitation. Gloria nervously reached out to snatch it back, but then reluctantly withdrew her hand.
Gloria nodded. "There are some low-end items that you don't want, so I can only sell them to other cyberpunks who need them—but don't worry, I'll prioritize supplying you, provided you can get in touch with me."
Mann smiled. "Don't be nervous, ma'am. You're an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), right?"
Gloria, confused, said, "Yes, Mr. Mann, the wages are too low, so..."
Mann: "I have no interest in reporting you, nor do I intend to threaten you. If you have any good stuff like this, remember to give it to me first. The money is here, transferred to you."
"Huh?" Gloria stared in astonishment at the 50,000 euros deposited into her account.
“I need this for myself, and you happen to need the money… but I suggest you, gambling is not a good habit, and besides, you have children, you should stop.” Mann stated his purpose directly, and also told the red-haired woman why he was transferring the money now.
Clearly, Mann doesn't believe that a single mother should risk doing these things to support herself and her child. If she's still short of money at this rate of earning, then it's only possible that she's not using money wisely.
Gloria blushed slightly and prepared to explain, but the words caught in her throat. "Mr. Mann, you have to be careful. This guy was reduced to ashes by the Terrorist Mobile Squad. You need to find a doctor to check if there are any problems with his cybernetic body."
Mann patted the backpack. "Madam, I was prepared for this price, but it can't be broken. If it's broken, I'll make trouble for you!"
Gloria stood up again and called out to Mann.
To be honest, Mann was running out of patience.
Gloria said with difficulty, "Um... can I have my bag back?"
Mann's newly bought sunglasses slipped down his face, and he looked incredulous. "Huh?"

ding dong~
The doorbell rang in the stairwell of the dilapidated building in Dogtown.
The automatic door opened, and Rebecca, holding a large gun, pointed it at the uninvited guest outside, only to find Lin Yue standing there speechless.
"Hey! It's you? I thought it was one of those Dogtown residents who tried to rob us yesterday..." Rebecca peeked around. "Where's that guy's body?" Lin Yue brushed Rebecca's head aside. "I threw it downstairs. Don't you mind the smell? By the way... why didn't you answer the phone?"
Rebecca held up the big gun in her hand, which was brightly colored and had a rough, cute look in some of the parts with her own unique style. "I was busy just now. Couldn't you have sent a text message?"
Lin Yue was speechless, staring at the large shotgun that was approaching him and smelled of gun oil.
"Guess what it's called?" Rebecca blinked, her face full of anticipation.
Lin Yue slipped into the room beside her, "Iron Gallbladder."
Rebecca was stunned for a moment, then shouted angrily, "Pira, just how big is your mouth? You have to tell Lin Yue this? Are you going to tell him even how many penises the Mewtwo star you saw yesterday has? You're crazy!"
Lin Yue sat on the sofa watching Rebecca puff out her cheeks and noticed that the girl had already colored her gorilla arm, one side pink and the other green. Her black turtleneck jacket was casually draped over her chest, so he subconsciously shifted his gaze.
Pila slid his chair and stuck his head out to peek outside. "It's you, kid. Here to pick up Rebecca? Or should I leave for a bit?"
Lin Yue rubbed his forehead.
Seriously, dating these two siblings will shorten your lifespan by ten years!
"Have you forgotten what I told you a few days ago, Pila? The boss wants us to move to a new place. He asked the animal helpers in Dogtown to find us a big place where we can do training, and they've even installed an anti-theft system. It's right above Lu Ke Shuang!" Lin Yue said weakly.
Pila smacked her lips. "The lease on this place isn't up yet, and we're moving again? What about all my spare parts and stuff..."
He rattled off a whole bunch of words, which Lin Yue and Rebecca chose to ignore.
Lin Yue looked at the large gun in Rebecca's hand and asked, "Is this the kind of killing with 'affordable firepower'?"
Rebecca nodded vigorously.
"I modified it myself, then applied the spray paint—"
She then lowered her voice and said mysteriously, "I ruined a lot of things using my brother's parts and paint, hahaha."
Pila's voice came at just the right moment, roaring furiously, "Rebecca! You idiot! All these things in my drawer have solidified into one piece, what are you trying to do?"
Rebecca raised an eyebrow. "How about it? I'm quite knowledgeable about shotguns and submachine guns. Want to learn?"
Lin Yue shook his head, "Why are you imitating Pila?"
Rebecca, dissatisfied with the rejection, muttered, "Don't think I just sprayed some paint on it. Although the pump-action mechanism hasn't been changed and the bullets are still No. 4 buckshot... I added a little something extra. The chemical storage compartment can coat the bullets with chemicals, and also, it makes them bounce more powerfully on the ground. Don't you want to use this kind of weapon?"
Lin Yue shrugged and stood up. "I don't need a shotgun. Let's go. Dorio and the others sent me a text message. Come over as soon as you're ready. They've sent you the location."
Rebecca glared at the arrogant guy with some displeasure as she left.
Pila laughed wickedly, "Hahahaha! They're not falling for your tricks at all~"
As Lin Yue stepped outside and heard the sound, a smile involuntarily crept onto his lips. Rebecca was now just as strong as she was when Pila left. He wondered what would happen to her in the future.
