Chapter 77 Getting Better and Better [Please Read On]

On the 10th day after moving into the new home, multi-person interactive training continued.

Within the analog chip space.

Bang bang bang!
Rebecca, the gorilla, gripped a TKI-20 Shingen pistol in her arm, suppressing the firepower inside the bunker. The bullets, with sparks flying from their tips and erratic trajectories, kept piercing the heads of the enemies hiding behind the bunker, who were still waiting for an opportunity to attack!
Dorio and Mann took advantage of the moment when Rebecca drew fire to climb over the wall and enter the enclosure. The hacker in charge of scanning immediately spotted the enemy lurking behind the door.

Mann took a small step back, and with the hacker's command, the door suddenly opened!

Before the enemy could react, two large hands grabbed his neck, and as the camera spun, he slumped to the ground.

Dorio and Mann exchanged a glance and smiled at each other with mutual trust.

The two quickly sneaked in, one on guard duty and the other entering the control room to download data.

Lin Yue watched the two working together skillfully through the sniper scope and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Pira, huddled in his bunker, threw grenades into the nearby battlefield. He was the unlucky guy working with Rebecca, and as he saw:
Rebecca: "Damn it, aim properly!"

Pila: "Can't you guys hurry up, you motherfucker? Every time a bullet gets in my body, it hurts like hell!"

Lin Yue: Sigh...

"Where's the hacker? The turrets are all alive!" Mann shouted into the headset channel.

The cat's AI-simulated voice sounded a little impatient, "I'm trying my best, don't rush me."

"I knew this hacker using AI voice wasn't very good, damn it!" Pila couldn't help but complain.

Lin Yue put away his gun; without even looking at it, he knew it was useless again.

Assessment: Poor

Lin Yue: "..."

The squad couldn't hold out until Lin Yue covered their retreat.

Somewhat discouraged, Rebecca gasped for breath, "Damn... this is so annoying! It's all Pila's fault."

“Alright, Rebecca, keep going. Don’t be discouraged.” Dorio’s voice was as steady as ever.

"Lin Yue is a shoo-in!" Rebecca, with a gun slung over her shoulder, waved excitedly to Lin Yue.

Lin Yue's mission of sniping and covering the rear was also completed. He got up, holding his gun, and showed a tired smile of finally succeeding.
-
Day 20 of moving into the new house.

Taiping Island, West Wind Manor.

Lin Yue tapped his finger on the table, while the members of the Animal Gang (who were not Anqi's people) opposite him had gloomy expressions.

Rebecca, standing behind him, already had her finger on the trigger...

"Don't fucking move!" A burly figure crawled in through the automatic door, carrying a [MK.31 heavy machine gun] that could turn everyone in the room into dust.

Lin Yue stood up, raising his hand and trying to look relaxed. "Hey, bro, relax..."

Rebecca blinked, her expression innocent. "Wow, you're so strong."

The machine gun was almost pointed at Lin Yue's forehead. The big guy grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth, and looked down at Rebecca, "Hehe, you're cute too."

boom!
That guy's head is gone.

The culprit was none other than Rebecca's Iron Heart...

The sound of a chair slamming open rang out along with a gunshot, and Lin Yue immediately forced Rebecca's head down.

Lin Yue rolled over, leaning against the wall of the emergency exit, and engaged in a passionate gunfight with the members of the animal gang who were trading with him, shooting them one by one without any regard for reason.

"These big guys are playing such a low-level double-cross? Watch this!" Rebecca tossed aside the Shingen gun she had covered in colorful graffiti, and her petite body nimbly darted into the center of the dense line of fire. Lin Yue sensed Rebecca's intention and began to pull the trigger more and more frequently.

call!
The large machine's gun barrel was pointed directly at the animal gang members who had just been shot down by Rebecca's shotgun and were unable to peek out.

She yelled, "The 'Mommy's' big gun is here!" At that moment, her gorilla-like arms perfectly countered the recoil of the heavy machine gun, the bullets tearing apart the places where those guys were hiding, the walls ripped apart like foam boards, scattering debris everywhere…

As the gunshot faded, Rebecca tossed the gun aside and let out a satisfied sigh.

Not far away, Lin Yue was carrying a suitcase containing 200,000 euros. He and Rebecca were covered in blood.

Rebecca smiled happily:

"I've won again!"

The two men, having looted the house, swaggered away from the dilapidated buildings of Westwind Manor, leaving behind only a mess.

The gang reinforcements who rushed back shortly afterward saw the horrific scene, like a truckload of ketchup spilled inside the house. One of the Animal Gang members, a man who was participating in the fight for the first time and was noticeably smaller in stature, finally couldn't hold back any longer and began to vomit violently against the wall, his voice trembling:
"Holy crap, cyber lunatic!"
-
Two months after moving into the new house.

"I love this city, just like you love your mom!"

"Back then, she abandoned you at the gate of the orphanage, and now she bumps into you on the street and asks you for a cigarette!"

……

"I've got this saying in mind: 'The timid starve, the bold feast...'"

The radio was playing the opening remarks of Night City's famous talk show, "Stanley's Fun Show." This guy often "criticizes" the company, which the audience enjoys, but all the money from the paid program goes into the pockets of the TV station and the company.

Dorothy reached out and turned off the radio, her face full of worry, while Lin Yue, in the driver's seat, gripped the steering wheel and drove nervously, sweating profusely.

"Holy crap... Hurry up, Lin Yue, he's already biting!" Pila turned her head to look back while using her slender prosthetic arm to pat the back of Lin Yue's seat.

Lin Yue had no time for arguing with Pila. He drifted into the corner and turned off the street in Westbrook.

A dense array of NCPD vehicles with their police lights flashing appeared on the bend behind the car...

Pila: "I think we need to hire a professional driver, damn it!"

Rebecca gripped the car's handrail tightly, somewhat afraid the car would suddenly tip over, and hurriedly shouted, "Lin Yue will accelerate straight ahead!"

"Shut up, I'm trying my best, okay?!" Lin Yue rolled his eyes. He wasn't an all-rounder as a sniper, and these people even looked down on his Ghosthound's driving skills.

A car was parked quietly around the corner in the distance. Mann, who was smoking in the driver's seat, heard the police sirens getting closer and closer and a belligerent smile appeared on his face.

As soon as Lin Yue's car passed, Mann suddenly accelerated, and the car cut directly into the middle of the road. The NCPD, who was at the forefront, watched as the blond man in the driver's seat stuck his arm out of the window, and a silver-white cannon muzzle emerged from above Mann's wrist!
Projectile launching system?

He quickly lowered his head!
Bang!
Amidst the flames, the exploded car flew high into the air and crashed heavily onto the road!

The cars following closely behind braked hastily, and a series of rear-end collisions and shouts erupted!
……

Back at the training quarters, everyone sat around the table, and Lin Yue tossed two large boxes of cash onto it.

He casually waved, and several of Angela's animal companions piled up stacks of weapon crates to one side.

Rebecca rushed over and opened one of them. The heavy machine gun was brand new and well-structured, with the "Midnight Military Industry" logo painted on its black body. Rebecca was overjoyed and began to show off her "rapid reloading" skills.

A burst of joyful laughter filled the dilapidated building in the corner of Dogtown.
-
Two months after moving into the new house.

The group of people, fully equipped, waved goodbye to Lin Yue. Lin Yue nodded, and the car disappeared at the end of the desolate road in Dogtown.

Lin Yue connected his phone to the brain-computer interface behind his neck, and his eyes lit up.

He was already adept at using the identity of Rin to issue detailed mission instructions to the squad. This was the squad's third time working independently.

The first two times, the quality met the standards, and the work was done cleanly.

I had just finished arranging the needs of the previous client when the next call came in at just the right time.

Lin Yue took a deep breath, tucked his phone under his shoulder, and while brewing coffee, spoke to his client in a practiced, middle-of-the-road tone.

In the living room, Stanley's radio program was also coming to an end:
"Do you know where the legendary figures of Night City congregate? — In the graveyard..."

"In our region, heroes aren't defined by their background; they're defined by whether they can forge their own path."

"This is Night City!"

"This is... the City of Dreams!"

……

This is my first attempt at this progressive, episodic writing style. I need to speed things up a bit. I need to really get into the middleman role and start working on the hacker chapters. After all, being a mercenary every day isn't sustainable. The main character will only get involved in big trouble later on.
