Chapter 1071 Morgan's Response

Chapter 1061 Morgan's Response
"Boss, is this the end of it?" Jimmy was somewhat unable to accept that such an important meeting had ended so simply. These guys had come with a lot of complaints, but now they were just letting it go like that. He couldn't see through everything behind this, especially the White House's reaction, which was a bit too strange. After speaking at the beginning, they didn't say anything else and just watched coldly from the sidelines!
"If it doesn't end like this, what other outcome do you want? Do you think those guys will have a showdown with John, or do you think the White House is really planning a targeted attack on John? Don't think too much about it. Tomorrow, acquire Cargill's shares at a higher market value and finalize the deal with Hurricane Investment!"

"Is this really necessary, boss?" Jimmy asked, puzzled. In his view, doing so would mean Morgan would have to bear some of the losses. After all, once John abandoned the acquisition of Cargill, the stock price would soon fluctuate, and Morgan would have to suffer some of the losses!

"Yes, if we don't do this, other companies might soon come and seize our market share and the cooperation to go public for John's company. You think that little fox John only said those things to the White House? He was also telling us that he's already dissatisfied with us. If we can't resolve this matter properly, I believe that after this cooperation, we will have other competitors. Some people have even seen through all of this!"

Morgan wouldn't want to do this if he could, but many things are beyond his control. Morgan isn't a one-man show; he needs to consider other people's opinions. Also, he has some concerns about John's rapid development, which has led to the current situation.

"If that's the case, I'm afraid that even if we do everything now, we won't be able to undo the damage caused before. After all, this isn't the first time, and John isn't the same young man we initially faced!"

"I know, but let's get this sorted out first, and then we can figure out how to ease tensions. You also need to keep an eye on things with General Motors. Those guys are really fixated on this issue. I don't know what those bastards are thinking, insisting on rejecting such a good thing!" Morgan is under a lot of pressure right now, and there are many problems within the conglomerate.

"If all else fails, we'll give up that portion of the shares and abandon General Motors altogether. Otherwise, if these guys keep causing trouble, the consequences will be severe. Not only is Donald behind this, but the United Auto Workers are too. We can't completely control General Motors! John, that little fox, isn't afraid of the United Auto Workers, but we aren't. If those guys really turn their attention to Morgan, things will get serious. Perhaps someone is eyeing that portion of the shares!"

"It's not impossible, but we have limited time right now and no way to learn more. If John hadn't been giving us face, things wouldn't be like this now. John hasn't left New York yet. We'll talk to him again after the Cargill shares are settled. There are some things that need to be discussed in person."

Jimmy was also puzzled as to why his boss hadn't discussed this issue with John earlier, instead waiting until after the meeting to find a time. However, this wasn't something he should concern himself with; he knew there must be more to the story.

With the acquisition of Westinghouse Electric and the listing of many of John's companies, some greedy individuals within Morgan Stanley, seeing the market value of Nvidia and Dreamworld soaring wildly, were seized by inappropriate greed. Forgetting how much profit they had gained from John, they wanted to betray John and target him. Cargill's acquisition was also partly their doing.

Faced with profit, those guys didn't care what they did, but the blame for all of this fell on Morgan's boss. After all, this was an internal matter of the Morgan Group, and making a scene would not be good for anyone. Most importantly, if such a thing got out, it would also affect Morgan's reputation and might even make Morgan be suspected by others.

Countless people are waiting for Morgan to make a mistake, and these fools have done just that. Although Morgan has managed to quell the situation, this matter still needs to be handled properly, otherwise the future consequences will be severe. He can't afford to be so calculating and servile; he can't afford such a bad reputation.

The Morgan financial group was also rife with factions. While Morgan himself desired control, not everyone was willing to accept his ideas, even though he and his group had reaped considerable benefits. This wasn't unique to the Morgan group; other financial groups faced similar situations. In fact, there had always been dissenting voices within the Morgan group, opposing the sale of Grumman Aircraft Company. They preferred a merger and Gulfstream Aerospace shares, but Morgan had suppressed these demands. The stronger the suppression, the more devastating the backlash—this was the problem Morgan now faced. Unfortunately, these matters couldn't be discussed, or even revealed to outsiders, otherwise, Morgan would lose face completely.

Other financial groups also have similar problems. For example, some members of the California financial group are dissatisfied with the sale of Lockheed Aircraft Company. The First Citibank financial group and the Rockefeller financial group—any of the companies that have been sold have their own members who are unhappy. Especially now, seeing the changes in the Middle East, seeing the benefits John received from Middle Eastern tycoons, and seeing those companies grow and prosper, these guys feel heartbroken. They never even considered whether these companies would have developed in the same way if they were in their own hands.

This is human nature, the extent of human greed. These greedy individuals only see the benefits of their own losses and are solely focused on recouping them, without considering any other issues. Furthermore, they are backed by powerful conglomerates. Even if problems arise, these conglomerates will step in to smooth things over.

Such individuals cannot be eradicated in one go. Repeated internal purges fail to prevent their continued emergence. The reason is simple: profit. Profit is the root of everything. As long as their greed remains unfulfilled, they will continue to cause trouble!

Seeing Jimmy's puzzled look, Morgan sighed, "It's not that I don't want to solve the problem once and for all, but no matter what I said before, it was useless. What John cares about is our attitude. If we had told him everything from the beginning, if you were John, what would you think? What would you have thought?"

“I understand. If I were in John’s shoes, my first reaction would be that you’re shirking responsibility. I would be even more dissatisfied with us, or even disappointed. I might even choose to part ways with us, since we were in the wrong first!”

"That's exactly the point. We need to think about everything from John's perspective. With this meeting, we can then show our sincerity and clearly explain all the issues. Even if John is very angry, he has to consider his reputation. After all, John's credibility is beyond question. This is because a gentleman can be deceived by his own methods. As long as we do things perfectly and show enough sincerity, everything can be salvaged!"

After hearing his boss's explanation, Jimmy couldn't help but sigh. This was why he couldn't stand in a high position; he had been too simplistic in his thinking, while his boss seemed to have it all figured out. Jimmy could already imagine what would happen next: a warning to others, a lesson to those greedy bastards, and an explanation to John.

“Jimmy, don’t think John is easy to fool. This isn’t the first time. Even if we do things right this time, John will still have reservations. There’s no such thing as a third or fourth time. The fact that we’ve repeatedly made mistakes will make a big client like John uneasy and doubt our abilities. That’s the most troublesome problem. As long as we can’t resolve John’s reservations and concerns, we’ll have an ‘opponent’.”

Morgan's concerns were perfectly valid. Many were watching them closely. With John's consolidation of the companies, which Wall Street giant wouldn't want to handle their IPOs? There were substantial interests involved. If the relationship between Morgan and John soured, that would be their moment to strike. It wasn't that no one wanted to take the initiative, but ultimately they all gave up. Morgan was not someone to be trifled with, and John wasn't so easily persuaded. After all, John's reputation was impeccable, and a decade-long relationship couldn't be easily severed! A moment of carelessness could result in a complete loss, and they could also incur Morgan's wrath. Therefore, they were all waiting for John's reaction!
"Boss, maybe we can get the White House and the donkeys to take the fall for us. After all, our president has also stepped forward this time, and they were the first to question John. They are our best shields!"

Morgan shook his head and sighed, "You're oversimplifying things. What do you think our opponents will think? Will they be blind to this problem? Or do you think John will believe it? Even if he does, you're overlooking another crucial point: we're the ones who hosted this meeting. It's impossible to expect the White House to shield us from the blame. That would only reinforce John's belief that we have a problem. So we can't use them as leverage, especially not now. Otherwise, we'll be the ones who suffer in the end!"
