Chapter 1522 The Appearance of the Neon People
Chapter 1512 The Appearance of the Neon People
If it weren't for the hurricane-induced investments in Europe being made public, John's plans there would likely have been exposed. Therefore, John has many opinions about Europe. In contrast, while Asia also faces its own problems, these are relatively minor, mainly concerning the amount of investment. After the financial crisis, they are eager for new investments. Although John profited significantly from the Asian financial crisis, other countries generally view him favorably; at least he didn't directly attack their financial systems, and much of his gains were even converted into assets, reducing their pressure and unemployment.
Of course, some people felt that John was plundering their businesses, but the public was more eager for an acquirer like John to step in and save their jobs. This is the nature of Taiwan's proactive move; after all, no one in power wants to see chaos. Not to mention, John's investment in Taiwan is staggering. If problems arise, it won't just be John who suffers, but the entire island of Taiwan will be dragged down.
For many, John's move was a storm, but for John himself, it was a contest, a decisive battle for the semiconductor chip market. Victory would mean returning to the top of the chip market; defeat would require change. However, currently, everything is developing in his favor. With Taiwan's proactive move, he can gain support in many areas.
In the world of capital, privilege is commonplace. The first to approach John weren't Morgan, the American tycoon, but rather Japanese officials. Although they received reassurance from the US, they dared not place their hopes on American benevolence, for they knew Americans were utterly devoid of it; their hearts were consumed by profit, and these men would do anything for it!
It was precisely because they understood how unreliable the Americans were that the Japanese government chose to take the initiative to give John an explanation and alleviate the pressure on the Japanese side. After all, they dared not let John wield his power again, especially after Shinsei Bank took over John's exchange in Japan, they dared not let their guard down.
Although everyone knew John was going to consolidate assets in Japan to form a small conglomerate, the Japanese team was under considerable pressure as the conglomeration began. As so many assets surfaced, they were all worried; the sheer size of the assets made them uneasy. Previously, these assets were controlled by the conglomerate, but now things were completely different. How could they feel at ease with the emergence of a conglomerate?
If the previous Shinsei Bank was already quite good, the integration of the exchange completely changes things. It means Shinsei Bank has a strong backbone and a much larger pool of assets at its disposal. If John were to use this 'accident' as an excuse to attack them again, it would have a terrifying impact on Japan's financial markets and even its economy!
“Mr. John, on behalf of Japan, I apologize to you. However, this is not entirely our fault. It is more due to the machinations of external forces. Someone is trying to sow discord between us and you, and this force comes from the Middle East. You should know that we are powerless to do anything about this. Even if we wanted to retaliate against them, the United States would stop us. Compared to those foolish people in Japan, we will definitely punish them severely and give you a satisfactory explanation.”
Upon hearing this, John smiled calmly and said, "The Middle East, are you sure? This is no joke."
"It's true, we have evidence. Many of our men were tricked by them; our subordinates were deceived, which led to this accident." Good heavens, these despicable Japanese are truly something else; they completely shirked responsibility. This guy, however, doesn't know that John was behind it all, and now he's shifting the blame onto those people in the Middle East right in front of John. It's utterly ridiculous!
John smiled faintly and shook his head, saying, "I know your predicament, but this matter has blown up too much. Even if I wanted to let it go, it's impossible. After all, someone has crossed my bottom line. If it were just one or two people, I could just laugh it off, but you've affected everyone we have in Japan. How can I accept that? If this ends like this, how can I ever have peace in the future? This is no small matter; it has escalated to another level!"
How could the Japanese not understand? The reason they reacted so quickly was because they knew things had spiraled out of control. This made them resentful of those guys in the Middle East. Unfortunately, while the Japanese claimed to have evidence, that evidence was worthless. The reason was simple: those who had intervened had all been silenced. Yes, that's right, in a short time, all the Japanese who had spoken out had been killed!
Who did it? It certainly wasn't Jaguar Security Company. John wasn't that foolish to expose his plan at this time. It all came from those with ulterior motives. You could say these guys died at the hands of their own people in Japan, which is why things became so 'serious' and caused such anxiety among these Japanese guys.
"We understand that we will definitely give you a satisfactory explanation, but we need time."
"Time? I'm afraid I can't give you all that time. And as far as I know, people on your side are being silenced one after another. How can I trust your abilities and believe that you can give me a satisfactory explanation?" John made no attempt to hide his understanding of the situation in Japan, directly pointing out the pressure Japan was currently facing!
“Mr. John, it’s precisely because people are being silenced in Japan that we can see how arrogant those guys are. We’ve also received word from the US, and I believe they’ll take action soon to make those guys pay the price!”
Upon hearing the Japanese man's words, John shook his head and said, "What does this have to do with me? What can I gain from it? My crisis is still not resolved, so I cannot accept your statement."
"What does Mr. John need us to do?" By this point, Neon realized that it was impossible to defuse the crisis with such words; they needed to show enough 'sincerity'.
"It's not about what I want you to do, but what you want to do. As for profits, I believe you're unwilling to make any more sacrifices. And don't treat me like a fool. You should be well aware that Japanese semiconductor chip companies have allied with Intel and AMD to target me. Can you honestly say they weren't behind this? Don't blame everything on those guys in the Middle East. Some of you yourselves are trying to take advantage of the situation. It's just that they're all too cunning and have such schemes, which has led to the current situation. Do you think I should let them off the hook?" Since this guy from Japan was being unreasonable and didn't know how to show sincerity, John didn't want to give them any more face. He directly exposed everything, laying everything out in the open so that this guy couldn't back down.
When John said this, the Japanese guys fell silent. They all knew what was going on with those semiconductor chip companies, so even if they wanted to explain for them, it was impossible. Since John had said it, he must have evidence in hand, and it would be foolish for them to try to explain further.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through these guys' minds: if only Akio Morita could step in, things might be resolved amicably given his relationship with John. But now that John had said this, they were all stuck in a bind, unsure of what to do. After all, none of them were willing to show enough 'sincerity'; they just wanted to resolve the issue with an apology. So, they were all at a loss.
Seeing their reactions, John sneered and said, "If you don't have a solution, then please leave. I don't have time to waste on you. No one can outmaneuver me without paying the price."
Faced with John's order to leave, the Japanese guys were also very troubled. After all, they came with a mission, but now they had achieved nothing and had even angered John. How could they feel at ease?
“Mr. John, could you give us a little more time? We will definitely give you a satisfactory explanation. I know it’s a bit inappropriate for me to say this, but there are many hidden problems in this matter. Those people are just taking the blame for others. It’s not their true intention. They were forced to do it!”
"Heh, do you think I'd believe that? This isn't the first time something like this has happened. I don't even know how many times it's happened. In the past, I've always let it slide because of our past relationship, but they're unrepentant and keep pushing my limits, constantly testing my bottom line. Do they really think they can be so arrogant just because I'm easy to talk to? This time, I won't compromise. Either give me a satisfactory explanation now, or you'll have to face my counterattack."
At this point, John had no intention of getting entangled with these guys any longer, because Morgan would be showing up soon. If those guys in the US really wanted to protect those bastards in Japan, they would take all the blame or shift it to someone else. It was precisely because John understood all this that he wanted to cut the Gordian knot and force these guys in Japan to show enough 'sincerity' and not give them time to delay.
Faced with John's relentless pressure, the Japanese guys exchanged glances, their eyes revealing a hint of unease. They all understood that if they left now, the matter would likely spiral out of control, so they had to resolve it quickly, as the consequences of delaying would be unimaginable!
“Mr. John, could we please use the phone? We need to consult with our superiors, as this is beyond our capabilities. Only those above can make decisions about your request; we don't have that authority!”
“Sure, you can use the phone as you like. If you’re worried, I can give you a quiet place!” John naturally understood what the Neon guys were thinking, so he gave them this way out to avoid them having trouble saying anything in front of him.
"Thank you very much, Mr. John. We will contact our superiors immediately and ask you to arrange a quiet environment for us!"
John didn't say anything more. He simply had someone escort them to his study, where there was a telephone. Then he shook his head, finding the reaction of these Japanese guys laughable. At this point, what secrets did they still have?
After those guys left, John sighed, "I hope these guys from Japan won't disappoint me and can show me the 'sincerity' that satisfies me. Otherwise, don't blame me for being ruthless. It's their own fault for being so stupid as to get involved in my struggle with those old guys like Rockefeller."
John felt absolutely no sympathy for these people from Japan, because they didn't deserve his pity. These guys were all indulging in ridiculous fantasies. Even though they had no way out, they still didn't want to show any 'sincerity' and always wanted to solve the problem with that laughable apology. It just shows that they overestimated their own face!
If Akio Morita had intervened, John might have shown these guys some leniency out of consideration for their past relationship. Unfortunately, Akio Morita wasn't stupid; he wouldn't squander his relationship with John on these guys. He knew exactly how much face he had left, and he didn't want to get involved in such a serious matter. So even when someone indirectly informed him of the situation, Akio Morita pretended to know nothing and refused to show up, unwilling to waste his last bit of goodwill on these greedy men.
In Akio Morita's view, the connection he had with John gave his descendants a trump card, allowing them to turn to John for help in times of crisis. However, once this connection was exhausted, those in Japan wouldn't care about it anymore—that was the weakness of human nature. As a Japanese man, Morita understood his comrades perfectly well, and therefore didn't believe their promises. If he placed his hopes on these men, his descendants might lose all protection shortly after his death. Understanding this, he knew the right choice.
