Chapter 123 Can you do it well?
The Titan machine of the Mechanicus, the human walker of Omnisiah, the Warlord-class Titan unleashing its full firepower.
Its plasma cannon emitted a hissing sound as it focused its energy, like a human taking a deep breath, before unleashing a roar that caused the walls of the alien hive to collapse.
The Space Marines charged in quick succession, the shockwaves from their power armor hitting the ground mingling with the deafening crash of the drop pods, creating a prelude to destruction.
The airdrop pods struck again, raining down on the earth, their target the alien hive.
In what seemed like an instant, the entire battlefield was activated, and the human attack surged forth like a raging torrent, engulfing the alien city.
The Doom Slayer's cold voice switched into the communication channel: "Landing site clearing complete."
In the heart of the alien hive, five Doomsday Warriors leaped from a tower and cleared a plaza.
As they looked up, the drop pod landed with a thud, and the blue and white-painted Space Marines stepped out of the hatch.
"Clean up the aliens!"
They nodded to their powerful cousins, admired the bravery of the "Ten Warriors," and charged towards the trembling alien with shouts.
When the barrier dissipated, the battle was over; all that remained was the complete eradication of the aliens.
Mortals and Space Marines filed in through the breach in the walls, while new Legion warriors descended from the sky.
Soldiers from the Fourth and Seventh Legions arrived aboard landing ships. They studied the weaknesses of the hive city and helped their relatives and mortals gain an advantage in urban warfare.
All the units involved in the battle seemed to feel a melody playing.
Composed by the Great Primitive, this peaceful movement is played in an orderly manner. It is well-structured and clear in its notes, a movement that leads to victory.
On the warship, he planned the landing point of each airdrop pod and indicated the path for the soldiers to clear it.
What seemed like a random arrangement ultimately culminated in the climax of the movement, a perfect symphony of destruction against the aliens.
The frontline troops eliminated the alien forces, while the civilians in the rear switched to promethium flamethrowers to clean up each room.
All aliens, regardless of age or weakness, were incinerated in the plasma flames.
Only dead Xenomorphs are good Xenomorphs.
"Company Commander Aliman."
High in orbit, Doom laid down his command post. Now, precise guidance was no longer needed; the Space Marines could do the job independently.
He relinquished his power to the Space Marines on the battlefield, who were capable of handling it well.
"Primarch." Ahriman knelt on one knee, showing utmost respect to the Primarch.
A nameless panic surged within him; ever since he met the Primarch, this restless feeling had lingered.
It stems from an instinctive fear, and that feeling is particularly pronounced when using psionic energy.
Therefore, Ahriman stood far away, maintaining a subtle distance from the Primarch, which made him slightly more comfortable and prevented him from being impolite in front of the Primarch.
"Don't be nervous," Doom said in a low voice, calmly reassuring the psionic warriors of the Fifteenth Legion.
He didn't need to ask; he probably knew why Ahriman was standing so far away.
The psychic's own existence makes them uncomfortable; it's a deep-seated unease in their soul, similar to the discomfort a mortal feels when breathing thin air.
“I need the psionic talents of the Fifteenth Legion to support a psionic barrier.” Doom opened the holographic image on the command platform, and several warships formed a four-corner structure in the void, surrounding the alien homeworld.
"What exactly do you want to do?" Ahriman stepped onto the stage and looked at the warships on the command platform. "Is it to set up a blockade barrier?"
"This...is a bit difficult." The soldiers of the Fifteenth Legion were reserved, their words lacking the wildness of the soldiers of other legions, instead carrying a cautious tone of seeking confirmation.
"One hundred Legion psionicists can set up a barrier, but it's not very effective."
Ahriman was very careful, explaining the pros and cons from his professional perspective.
“It’s my fault for not expressing myself clearly.” A hint of surprise flashed in Doom’s eyes, which then turned into a smile. He said to Ahriman again, “I need a barrier to cut off psionic communication and block the lizards’ communication.”
“This is highly feasible.” Ahriman was surprised by the Primarch’s tolerance and his willingness to frankly admit his mistakes.
His superhuman mind raced, and after a moment of silence, he replied to the Primarch: "The mission is feasible, and my brothers and I will accomplish it."
“It must be done.” Doom’s expression hardened slightly as he made a demand of Ahriman: “The success or failure of the operation depends on you.”
He opened the Alien Nest City, where the wizard's tower stood tall: "This tower has the effect of amplifying psionic energy, and can draw on the sand lizard's psionic energy to help you."
Ahriman's eyes lit up when he saw the alien device, and he admired the Primarch's foresight and ingenious, step-by-step strategy even more: "I can assure you with certainty that there will be absolutely no problem."
"Go and prepare quickly." Doom nodded to Ahriman, indicating that he could leave at any time, and then looked at the two legion representatives beside him.
"Frickes the Destroyer of the Fourth Legion, and Apius of the Seventh Legion."
Doom summoned the two legion representatives and read out their names.
"Please give the order, Primarch." The two warriors knelt on one knee, their voices as cold as steel and as resolute as rock and gravel.
"Get up, I have an important task for you." Doom looked at the two warriors and told them to rise and await his orders.
"We will certainly not let the original body down!"
The Breaker, Frick, and the Legion warrior, Appius, made a promise to the Primarch in unison.
“Look at this.” Doom called them closer, and a complete image of the alien hive was displayed.
The warriors, clad in steel-colored and bright yellow armor, focused intently on receiving the Primarch's commands, daring not to miss a single one.
“I need Fricks to build a fortress to keep the alien city going for at least three months. Apius will be in charge of studying the city’s structure and preparing to capture the next city.”
Doom clearly stated his demands, then looked up at the two legion representatives: "Do you have any objections?"
“My lord…” Appius of the Seventh Legion spoke somewhat hesitantly as he knelt before the Primarch: “Please forgive my abruptness, but have you said the wrong thing?”
The Citybreaker, Frick, also knelt down, saying nothing, yet conveying the same meaning.
During the glorious expedition, Astartes leveraged its genetic advantages to win legends and a great reputation for the legion.
The Fourth Army is the siege engine, and the Seventh Army is the architect.
One was skilled at conquering cities and seizing strongholds, while the other was adept at building fortresses.
They seem to be natural opposites, the "destroyers" and "guardians" in the Emperor's design.
The Primarch is now assigning tasks to the Legion, which is difficult for them to understand, and they even think that the Primarch has done it backwards.
“I wasn’t wrong.” Doom helped them up, looked at the warriors with completely different styles, and offered words of encouragement: “You can definitely do it.”
He put his hand on Fricks' shoulder, which flattered the latter: "A siege master must know the weaknesses in a city's defenses in order to break through a strong fortress, so why can't we build a castle without any weaknesses?"
The Primarch's words made the Citybreaker shudder. He lowered his head and pondered his words seriously, his eyes flashing with a sharp light, as if he had gained some kind of inspiration.
"The same applies to you." Doom looked at the Seventh Legion warriors: "The best guardians know the weaknesses of the city, so why not use this talent to reflect on the weaknesses of the enemy's castle and conquer the fortified city?"
After hearing the Primarch's words, the representatives of the two legions exchanged a glance, their eyes seemingly sparking intense tension.
"We will certainly not fail the duty entrusted to us by the original entity!"
They knelt on one knee again, then bowed and left the bridge to carry out the tasks assigned by the Primarch.
The two Legion representatives, inspired by the Primarch's words, suddenly had a moment of clarity, as if the clouds had parted and the moon was shining through.
The two were eager to put their newfound knowledge into practice under the witness of the original body.
Doom's orders were quickly relayed, and the four legions worked methodically, preparing to defend the city as planned by the Primarch.
Doom personally led the Destroyers and the Fifteenth Legion warriors to land on the planet and arrive at the priest's tower.
"Primarch."
The tall figure entered the dome, and the Mechanicus bio-sage immediately stepped forward: "We are ready with everything you command."
Doom nodded in acknowledgment and looked at the makeshift operating table. The Sand Lizard High Priest was unconscious, and there were surgical scars on his head.
"Their body structure is different from ours, but there are still patterns to be found."
The bio-sage raised its mechanical appendage and projected a holographic image: "The part of the brain that was thinking has been removed; it will now obey our commands."
"Ariman".
Doomhurst summoned a Legion psionicist and instructed him to begin controlling the Xenomorphs, using their race's psionic communication to transmit psionic signals into the Star Sea.
For races with underdeveloped technology, interstellar communication is extremely difficult.
The psychic sand lizard uses psychic communication to contact its kind light-years away and maintain basic communication.
What Doom needs to do now is hack into the Xenomorphs' communication network and send out a distress signal to get all the Xenomorph warriors back to their home planet for rescue.
