Warhammer 40: Doom

Chapter 166 Matters of Terra

Chapter 166 Matters of Terra
Doom traversed the subspace and returned to the solar system.

In his memory, everything seemed like yesterday, but in reality, many years had passed.

The First Fleet had already sent out beacons, ordering the Gates of Hades to allow passage into the solar system.

Many years later, the management of the human empire has become more refined, no longer as barbaric and brutal as it once was.

Ships need multiple permits to enter the solar system in order to prevent terrorists from infiltrating and attacking the Throne World.

The First Fleet was stopped, and Doom was only able to enter the solar system after he identified himself.

“My lord, I feel they are humiliating you.” Sophia had no good feelings towards the Empire; it was too dark and oppressive there.

She felt her owner had been humiliated, and the repeated verifications infuriated the digital life.

“Something must have gone wrong.” Doom slowly shook his head. He felt that Terra’s high-level security must have a reason.

“Great Primarch, I apologize to you.” The Space Marine in charge of security knelt down over the all-hands communication, performing the warrior salute to express his sincere apology.

"What happened?" Doom asked softly, without blaming the dutiful soldier.

"The lunar gene bank was attacked, and the Third Legion suffered heavy losses." The Seventh Legion's soldiers answered truthfully, clearly replying to the Primarch.

"Thank you for keeping your duty." Doom greeted him, his heart suddenly feeling heavy.

The genetic seed stockpile, the very foundation of a legion, was tragically destroyed in a terrorist attack.

“Thank you for your concern.” The Space Marine stood up, noticing the Primarch’s regret: “The Third Legion Primarch has returned; they should be able to make up for the losses.”

Upon hearing this, Doom's eyes lit up. The Primarch's return was indeed a good thing and extremely encouraging for the Third Legion.

"Have a pleasant journey," the Space Marine said finally, closing the holographic communication.

"The fleet will dock at Lionsgate Spaceport, where we have our dedicated berths."

Doom gave Sofia orders, repeatedly issuing instructions: "While the fleet is docked, all hatches must be closed, and personnel should avoid going outside as much as possible."

"Carefully inspect supplies to prevent stowaways from infiltrating, pay attention to the training personnel, and prevent the leakage of technology..."

He listed dozens of precautions to try and prevent any accidents from happening to the fleet.

Sofia carefully noted that she was responsible for resupplying supplies and conducting safety inspections during the anchorage.

The First Fleet, consisting of over a hundred warships, followed the Royal Majesty and gradually docked at Lionsgate Spaceport. Doom led the Doom Soldier to Terra Palace.

Behind them followed an anti-gravity plate piled with dozens of boxes.

Goods entering the palace must undergo security checks. Primitives carrying goods have special privileges and are personally inspected by the Imperial Guard.

This is a necessary procedure; the Emperor's bodyguards are meticulous, and items presented to the Lord of Mankind are examined even more carefully.

Sophia's projection quietly disappeared, the digital life choosing to temporarily evade the sharp gaze of the Imperial Guard.

Doom was leading the Doom Warriors in line, respecting the rules of the Empire and the golden-armored warriors.

If he wishes, he can ask the Emperor or Macardo for a pass to enter the palace directly.

However, Doom expressed at least basic respect for the rules and regulations.

Privileges are never a good thing; the more you exercise them, the more you lose.

“Plato.” Ra waved, and Doom saw a familiar face.

Plato, the Imperial Guard, chose Li Tang from among thousands, which led to the birth of the Legion's eldest son. The original Destroyers all knew her.

"Pull." The golden-armored guard nodded in response to the Destroyer, removing her helmet as a sign of politeness.

As her golden hair fell, the royal guard revealed the true face beneath her helmet: a beautiful blonde woman.

"Are there any women in the Imperial Guard?" Doom was stunned for a moment and asked Ra through the mental link. He really didn't expect that there were female members in the Imperial Guard.

He had always believed that the Custodians, like the Space Marines, were modified from men of marriageable age.

I saw a woman today who truly challenged my understanding of things.

“Yes,” Ra replied to the Father of Genetics in his mind: “The Imperial Guard is mostly male, with a small number of women.”

“That’s quite an unexpected discovery.” Doom nodded slightly and gave Plato a friendly smile.

"Primarch." Lady Plato knelt on one knee, performing a warrior's salute to express her respect.

The Imperial Guard obeyed the Emperor's orders and respected the King of Warriors as much as the Lord of Mankind.

Doum raised his hand to signal the Imperial Guards to stand up: "No need for formalities, thank you for choosing Li Tang."

"It's all a coincidence, a choice made by fate."

Plato straightened his face and said in a serious and strong voice, "His success was entirely due to his personal will." As she spoke, she couldn't help but recall the scene at that time, and a little embarrassment welled up in her heart.

Actually, the situation at the time was mixed with her own petty revenge, a revenge against those who looked at her disrespectfully.

“These are all the same; they are gifts from the Father of Genetics to the Emperor.” Ra, dressed in gleaming gold and black armor and slightly taller than Plato, explained the purpose of the goods to her.

The Imperial Guards' inspections were too cumbersome; there were over ten thousand shield generators, all mass-produced products from the same batch.

“You should know our duty,” Plato shook his head at Lara and explained to his old friend, “to protect the throne and the emperor, we must be meticulous in every detail.”

“Ra,” Doom called to his son, telling him not to disturb the work of the Imperial Guard: “Their duties cannot be taken lightly or neglected.”

The Imperial Guards protected not only the emperor, but also the safety of the palace.

The emperor's magnificent palace contains countless key points, and no mistakes can be tolerated.

Doom naturally understood that the Emperor was fully aware of his return, and the fact that he was not specially summoned to explain the importance of the rules.

He was happy to cooperate, no longer in a hurry, and could stop and wait patiently.

I can't remember the last time I felt so relaxed, quietly observing the various things happening around me.

"Thank you for your understanding." Plato was grateful to the Primarch before him, understanding the hardships of the lower classes and respecting the work of others.

“These are gifts for you.” Doom pointed to the box containing the shield generator and said to the Imperial Guard, “Leave the specific arrangements to the Emperor for now.”

"Thank you very much." Plato smiled and expressed his gratitude, but did not ask what the gift was.

The duties of the Imperial Guards meant they were never swayed by external things.

The inspection was slow, but the Imperial Guards used various instruments to inspect each item. The inspection was also very fast, as the Imperial Guards' inspection actions were swift.

After two hours, all checks were completed, and the group was allowed to enter the inner palace.

"Suffocatingly tedious." Sophia's blue figure reappeared, making a normal expression, revealing a sense of relief.

Doom has a super smart chip, and she is always by her owner's side.

"The human empire is too large. Without the help of intelligent machines, everything is done by humans, so naturally, we are on edge."

Doom understood the Empire's difficulties and would not add to its troubles.

"Go find Vizier Macardo first," Doom said to the guards leading the way, as he had something to give to Macardo.

"Yes, sir." The Imperial Guard did not turn around, his voice flat, and silently turned in another direction.

After several hours of traveling by car and on foot, the group finally arrived at the Macado Palace, which was vast.

Its coverage area is constantly expanding, and the palace is planned to cover the entire plateau.

Inside the prime minister's residence, staff members were numerous, and various sounds mingled together in the cluttered office area.

A progenitor walked by without causing any disturbance; the staff's attention was entirely focused on the work at hand.

This place is nominally the prime minister's private residence, but it is actually the most complicated office area.

The group followed the Imperial Guards into the inner court, into the relatively quiet backyard, and met with Macardo himself.

The backyard is beautiful, with exotic flowers and plants, and a stream flowing through the artificial landscape.

“Elder!” Doom greeted Makado with a smile as he saw him resting in a pavilion.

He respected this elder very much, even more than the emperor.

In Doom's eyes, the Emperor was slightly less mature in personality compared to Macado.

Regardless of ability and strategic vision, let's focus solely on personality.

“Dum Norwick.” Makado returned the gesture with a kind smile, gesturing to the stone table and inviting Doum to sit down: “Please sit.”

He set the Eagle Scepter aside, fiddled with the tea set on the stone table, and personally brewed tea for Doum.

"Your arrival surprised me; you are a true 'rare guest.'"

“I have a gift for you.” Doom picked up the small teacup with two fingers; mortal utensils were too small for him.

"Oh? To deliver a gift?" Macado asked, puzzled. "Who is it?"

Dum took a sip of fragrant tea, but did not answer the elder, his eyes glancing at the blue figure.

“Central Law Sofia?” Macado turned his head, his gaze calmly fixed on the blue figure, who lifted her skirt and bowed to him.

Madam. Makado's address was very refined; it contained no contempt or disrespect, but rather a sense of equal respect.
