Warhammer 40: Doom

Chapter 234 The Power of Faith

Chapter 234 The Power of Faith
With their target at the Eastern End Starfield, Doom led an even larger fleet toward the Empire's largest starfield.

There are hundreds of billions of stars here, even more planets, and countless alien races.

Randan appeared here, and Doom's goal for this trip was to search for them.

The Nur fleet released a large number of reconnaissance ships to venture into the depths of space in search of Randan.

Although the process was lengthy, Doom had to do it; he wouldn't allow Randan to continue hiding.

From 831.M30 to 832.M30, a full year of searching yielded nothing.

Ran Dan vanished without a trace, without even a sighting report, as if this terrifying race did not exist in the universe.

It wasn't a complete failure; during the search for Randan, the Nur fleet exterminated hundreds of alien species and completely wiped out thousands of species with potential for intelligence.

Discover dozens of human worlds and bring them back into the Empire's embrace.

The edge of the Eastern End Starfield is too far from the Hazy Starfield, making it difficult for Nur to manage. It would be most appropriate to hand over the reclaimed world to the Empire.

Battles with humans were rare; when the rulers saw the overwhelming fleet, they immediately concluded a peace treaty with the empire.

Doom was not a pedantic man; he observed the surrendered human world and examined the local rulers.

If the ruler is wise, let him maintain his rule and make him the planetary governor of the empire.

If someone is merely occupying a position without performing their duties, Doom will remain outwardly calm but secretly dispatch the Alpha Legion to reshuffle the cards on the planets to which they have submitted.

Using the methods the Alpha Legion excels at, they will instigate a revolution on the planet, establish a new order through bloodshed and sacrifice, and cleanse the darkness and corruption of the past.

Thus, the Nur fleet roamed the void, searching for Randan, clearing out the aliens, and seeking out the lost world of humanity.

“My lord,” Sophia called softly beside Doom as he awoke from his bed, “The Emperor has sent a message in Star Language.”

"read."

Upon hearing that it was the Emperor, Doom immediately perked up and went into his room to wash up.

“He wants you to come here and meet him.” Sophia’s palm projected a star coordinate.

Doom felt the comfort of the hot water flowing over his body and glanced at the coordinates provided by Sofia.

At the border between the Storm Starfield and the Eastern End Starfield, on the edge of the Eastern End Starfield, the Emperor's Dream awaited him.

His thick eyebrows furrowed as he quickly recalled what the emperor had done throughout the year and analyzed his specific objectives.

The Emperor summoned Ruth's Space Wolf, which arrived in the Eastern End Starfield.

Engage with orcs in the "Firewheel Subsector," a region filled with irregularly moving planetary systems, burning space dust, and raging ions and space storms.

The orcs have taken control of twenty worlds and are preparing to unleash a Waaaaaagh!

In the rehearsals between the Emperor and Horus, and even in the midst of war, the Space Wolf may pay a heavy price.

They contacted Feralus Marus, intending to use the Iron Hand as support for the Space Wolves to eliminate the inhabiting orcs.

At the outset of the war, the professionalism displayed by the Space Wolves far exceeded the expectations of the Imperial high command, earning the Emperor and others a newfound respect.

The Wolf King quickly assembled a raiding force and personally led it to land in the orc world. Using superior forces, he launched a surprise attack on the orc leader, and finally, Ruth's Siren's Fang Chainsaw Sword beheaded the orc leader.

With two billion beastmen leaderless, they immediately descended into internal strife, vying for the position of leader.

Taking advantage of the orcs' internal strife, the wolf pack fleet unleashed tremendous firepower, defeating the orcs' weak fleet, trapping the orcs in various worlds, and crippling their fighting force.

During the One Year War, the Space Wolves used their fleet advantage to launch continuous air raids, eliminating new Orc leaders and weakening the Orcs.

In a world where the orcs have been completely wiped out, Ruth commands the Mechanicus to burn the land with plasma flames to prevent the orcs from emerging from the earth.

Seeing such professionalism, the Emperor only stayed for three months before leaving the Firewheel Sub-Sector.

According to the War Council's estimates, it will take at least three years for the Space Wolves to wipe out the Orcs.

He could not linger, so he left without hesitation and continued searching for the Primarch in the void.

Before leaving, he also gave Ruth a golden spear called "The Spear of Dionysus" to commend the Space Wolf's bravery and wisdom.

"The Royal Majesty is to proceed to the rendezvous point. The Nur Fleet continues its mission to search for Randan."

Doom smiled, then after a brief moment of thought, ordered the fleet to continue its mission while he went to rendezvous with the Emperor.

According to his calculations, there would be no unexpected events on this journey; rather, the emperor would have found a new brother.

The two sides are not far apart, both located on the edge of the Eastern End Starfield.

Now that Randan is nowhere to be found, he can temporarily leave the fleet to welcome back a brother. The Royal Majesty activates the Geller Force Field, enters the warp, and immediately sets sail for the Emperor's location.

When the ship sailed out of subspace and arrived in an unfamiliar star system, the Emperor had been waiting for a long time.

"Prepare yourselves to land on Nocturne." The Emperor's majestic voice rang out, his glorious image appearing in everyone's minds.

Without relying on holographic communication, the brilliance emanating from his psychic energy commanded the submission of mortals.

"What did he say?" Doom asked the Imperial Guard beside him, who was unable to receive psionic communications.

"Please prepare to land on Nocturne with him," the Odysseus Shield Guard Captain hurriedly relayed the message.

The thousand royal guards did not return to Terra after the Battle of Randan; they remained with Doom.

They had their own explanation, arguing that Ran Dan had not been completely eliminated and the Imperial Guard's mission was not yet complete.

In fact, Doom had already seen through it all. The Imperial Guard was taking advantage of this opportunity to travel further into space and monitor his movements.

He understood the golden-armored warriors but refrained from commenting on their motives.

As the Emperor's bodyguards, the Royal Guard should indeed return to Terra to protect the Lord of Man after completing their mission.

It's the same well-known reason—who could possibly harm the Emperor in the real universe?
The production of the Doom Soldier was partly funded by the Imperial Guard. Doom was accompanied by a thousand men, and in addition to those guarding the palace, the Emperor was always surrounded by a thousand men to protect him.

If someone can break through a thousand Imperial Guards and harm the Emperor, then the number of Imperial Guards makes no difference.

As the Emperor's personal guard, the Imperial Guard clearly had other concerns—they firmly believed that this King of Warriors might be the only one who could threaten the Emperor, and therefore needed to be closely monitored.

The Lord of Doom was very strong; psionic energy had no effect on him, and his combat power was even greater. After a series of punches and kicks, he made the Purple Phoenix vomit bile.

It is said that he also possessed a divine sword, which the emperor once tried to wield, but burned his palm, leaving a permanent scar.

For all these reasons, Odysseus felt that without psychic powers, the Emperor would be in great danger relying solely on melee combat and martial arts.

There are also the Doom Warriors, who are nominally Astartes, but are actually a completely different kind of advanced beings.

If the Primarchs were to harbor malicious intent, they would surely swarm in, and the Emperor might not be able to withstand them.

Although the Emperor had warned the Royal Guard not to be wary of the Destroyers, as they were the most reliable.

But as bodyguards of the Lord of Mankind, how could they let their guard down? The Imperial Guards must remain vigilant at all times, standing between danger and the Lord of Mankind.

Doom nodded and then headed to the shuttle deck to meet the Emperor.

The two giant ships hid behind the star, out of the cosmos, to avoid being discovered by the inhabitants of Nocturne.

The emperor was already waiting, wearing only a long robe, inside the cabin of the Imperial Guard shuttle.

Upon seeing Doom enter, he sent a telepathic shuttle to Nocturne to greet his son.

Doom sat down inside the shuttle, his tiger-like eyes narrowed, sensing something amiss about the Emperor.

“Your power has increased.” He noticed that the Emperor’s psychic radiance was brighter than before, without the slightest dimming.

The Emperor needs to use psionic energy to maintain the Starlight and guide the Imperial fleet; this psionic energy is being consumed every moment.

Being away from Terra should have increased the consumption of psionic energy, but the Emperor's radiance did not dim; instead, it burned even brighter.

He showed no signs of fatigue; on the contrary, he was full of energy.

"Faith." The emperor spoke succinctly, while the middle-aged man under the golden light wore a helpless, bitter smile: "As the Great Expedition continues and the empire's territory expands, mortals have begun to feel gratitude and faith in me."

"Although I solemnly warned the faith and ordered the Seventeenth Legion to destroy all faith, the reverence from the human heart gathered around me like starlight."

“I demolished temples, burned scriptures and religious texts, and became the embodiment of faith myself.”

"The Cult of Mechanics regards me as the incarnation of Om Messiah, and some of the beliefs they spread have flowed into me."

After the emperor finished speaking, he took a deep breath, sat down in his chair, and said no more.

He felt he hadn't spoken in a long time, and had talked a bit too much.

“No,” Doom said solemnly, a dangerous glint in his eyes that sent a chill down the Emperor’s spine.

"I saw divinity!"

Doom's most sensitive and disliked trait appeared in the Emperor.
