Warhammer 40: Doom
Chapter 283 I Am Your Death Knell
Chapter 283 I Am Your Death Knell
tearing~
The psionic barrier has split in two!
The barrier, composed of spiritual will and non-material psychic energy, was torn apart by Doom with his bare hands, producing a cutting sound like tearing cloth!
The psionic barrier blocking the way to the group suddenly ripped apart, and a giant tore the heavens and earth apart!
Wow~
In an instant, the world became clear, the confusion before our eyes vanished, and the ugliness beneath the psionic barrier was fully revealed, a vast expanse of insects.
Before Felus could even marvel at his brother's strength, what he saw before him caused his lips to droop and his face to betray his disgust.
He saw the alien leader, a pair of giant male and female insects, over thirty meters long, with their raised upper bodies reaching ten meters high.
Their transparent bodies display a riot of colors, much like the bizarre and dazzling subspace, an ugly chaos that evokes instinctive disgust.
The male insect raised its body, using body language to send a warning signal, its mouthparts hissing, and the human face on its body looked even more eerie.
As for the female insect, it was convulsing and rolling on the ground, which shows that it was the one who tore open the psionic barrier.
The alien leader was surrounded by tens of thousands of "guards," who, judging from their size, were much stronger than the filarial worms that appeared on the battlefield.
Doom remained expressionless as he reached for the shield from Feralas, his eyes devoid of joy or sorrow as he surveyed the two supreme beings of the Fiend race.
He saw the human face on the worm's head, a cold smile curling his lips. The birth of the filarial worm was indeed related to the warp!
The two-headed filarial "parents" are real-world cosmic beings infected by subspace.
They have existed for thousands of years, kept in captivity by humans for food, and have themselves been affected by humans.
It is evident that after being contaminated by subspace energy, filarial worms acquire subspace biological characteristics—their bodies change according to their beliefs.
The filarial race has a very deep symbiotic relationship with humans. Even if some humans know the truth, they still choose to have relations with the filarials. The beliefs and aspirations that arise from this relationship have changed the original appearance of the filarials.
The bodies of the "parents" are symbolic; their bodies are still insects, representing that the fundamental nature still exists and the race has not broken away from its primitive origins.
The fact that the head is human-shaped indicates that filarial culture is biased towards humans, and that they have coexisted and parasitized for a long time. The human symbol has also eroded the original filarial nature.
Doom gripped the super shotgun in his hand. What he saw before him was almost exactly what he had expected: the bodies of the filarial progenitors were filled with warp energy, the source of humanity's calamities.
"What...are you?"
A gentle, infinitely kind voice rang out. The benevolent human head of the insect spoke, a loving mother, but her gentle tone was filled with disbelief: "How could you tear apart a psionic barrier with your bare hands?"
She couldn't believe that someone in the real universe could tear apart the barrier between consciousness and psychic energy with their bare hands!
This is unscientific, violates the laws of physics, and also violates the common sense of subspace.
"I am your death knell!" Doom growled, offering no explanation as he announced death to the alien, cocking his shotgun with a flick of his wrist!
Just as he was about to rush towards the alien leader, he was stopped in front of his chest by an iron hand.
Under his brother's questioning gaze, Feralus raised his hand as if it were a knife, placed it between the two giant insects, and said, "Half for each of us, one head for each of us!"
Half for each person – Felus was referring to the insect guards, while the other half represented the filarial parents.
Doom nodded in agreement, raised his gun, pointed it at the Queen, and selected his target.
The two giant insects are Alpha Psionic level. The father insect is more focused on physical enhancement. Although powerful, it is biased towards the physical body. Felus will not be at a disadvantage against it.
The mother insect is dealt with by herself; she is more skilled in using magic and has a wide variety of bizarre methods, making her very dangerous in actual combat.
"Come on, humans!" The father insect's majestic voice challenged them to a duel. Both sides were burdened with an overwhelming hatred, and there was no possibility of reconciliation. Only death could end the war.
"Morok!" Felus roared furiously, wielding a bolt of lightning that crackled around the Forgebreaker, and charged forward first: "Follow me to slay the enemy of humanity!"
"Flesh and blood are weak!" Morlock Terminators shouted in unison, activated their melee weapons, and strode forward with heavy steps, following the Father of Genetics to kill their enemies.
Doom remained silent, then flicked his left hand to activate the shield in his hand. The built-in engine hummed, causing the sharp teeth around the shield to rotate as he walked towards the Queen.
"We will stand in the place of the Lord of mankind to judge the enemies of mankind!"
Captain Odysseus of the Shield Guard roared, leading the Imperial Guard to follow the Primarch's lead and join forces with the Doomsday Warriors to destroy the Fiend Guards.
The two Primarchs deliberately slowed down to allow their troops to keep up and avoid disrupting the attack rhythm. Otherwise, the cumbersome Terminators wouldn't have been able to catch up with them at all.
"Let's fight humanity to the death!" the great and compassionate father declared, his majestic face now ruthless, disregarding life and death. The breeding mother worm, its head pointing skyward, clattered its teeth, chanting psionic spells in the syllables of silkworms to strengthen the guards' frail bodies.
They lack technologically advanced armor and can only rely on psionic magic to add some basic protection.
Pale purple psionic energy descended upon the swarm of insects, transforming into egg-shaped shields to protect the filarial guardians. Encouraged, the guardians hissed and launched an attack on the humans.
They were met with a barrage of bullets; the self-propelled explosives were terrifyingly powerful, and in the blink of an eye, thousands of filarial guards were blasted into pieces.
Within the Astartes Legion, only elite veterans can wear the Terminator power armor, and those selected for the Primarch Honor Guard are the elite of the elite.
To follow the Primarch's charge, Morlock Terminator Forwards had no heavy weapons, but carried a compound bomb gun in his left hand to provide dense bullet support.
Wow~~
Within the Terminator formation, the crisp, melodious sound of spent cartridge cases, inscribed with oaths, hitting the ground merged into a torrent of sound.
The compound bomb gun has two muzzles and a firing rate twice that of a traditional bomb gun, emptying the drum magazine in an instant and easily tearing through psionic shields to kill aliens.
Then gunfire erupted from the rear, and the forwards immediately switched to drum magazines to avoid a break in firepower.
The Morlock Terminators worked in perfect coordination, protecting the Primarch as they advanced. Large swarms of filarial worms fell at their feet, and the Xenomorphs could not stop the Space Marines' advance.
Feralus took the lead, his power armor backpack unfolding as he began to unleash firepower comparable to that of a Titan!
The backpack extends a mechanical arm, supporting various precision-crafted weapons personally made by Feralus. Dense streams of different colored energy are fired into the silkworm's charging line.
He was now a humanoid Titan! Vast numbers of filarial worms were evaporated, and there was no living creature in front of the charging formation, only the charred remains and gelatinous carcasses of the dead aliens.
In the blink of an eye, in a moment beyond the comprehension of mortals, the Primarch's personal guard unleashed astonishing combat power, treating the Xenomorphs like pigs and dogs, slaughtering them until rivers of blood flowed.
Before even making contact, a third of the filarial charge had already fallen; the Space Marines' killing efficiency far exceeded mortal comprehension.
The filarial worms surged, equally fearless, using their bodies to buy distance for their brethren, rushing to the effective range of their own weapons.
They unleashed threads that enveloped the human forces; these psionic-enhanced biological threads possessed powerful cutting abilities, enough to pierce through steel defenses.
With lightning speed, Felus grabbed the silk thread with his iron hand and pulled it backward with a sudden force. The five-meter-long silkworm guard was pulled out of formation by the Primarch and casually tossed into the air.
Before it even hit the ground, it had already shattered into pieces in mid-air, scattering a rain of gelatinous fragments.
The filarial worms' fine threads pierced through the outer layer of terracotta armor, but could not go any further, tearing through the inner lining armor and posing a threat to the Space Marine's body.
Led by the Primarch, Morlock efficiently killed the filarials, clearing the way for the Father of Genesis and charging toward the filarial leader.
boom!
A loud bang rang out, and out of the corner of his eye, Felus saw that the double-barreled shotgun in Doom's hand burst into golden light, and the direction in which his brother's gun was pointed was blasted into a vacuum semicircle of tens of meters.
With a flick of his wrist, Doom ejected two golden cartridge cases from the ancient firearm, which fell to the ground amidst gunpowder smoke.
Ferrus looked closely and saw that the bullet casings were densely engraved with various runes, each one a blessing from the Lord of Mankind to the bullet.
He clicked his tongue in amazement, gaining a completely new understanding of that ancient weapon with its exaggerated caliber. It must have been crafted by the Lord of Mankind himself, with each bullet blessed by the Emperor.
One can imagine from that weapon that the Emperor valued Doom more than any of his other brothers, including himself.
Ferrus shook his head, banishing the distracting thoughts from his mind, and focused intently on the enemy forces before him.
The two sides clashed in close combat, the filarial waves colliding with the steel bodies of humans, each employing all their means and using every ounce of strength to kill the other.
The filarial worm spewed acid from its mouthparts, corroding the Terminator's armor and finally posing a threat to Morlock.
But the Space Marines' counterattack was even more swift!
Power swords, power gauntlets, lightning claws—melee weapons swirling with a disintegrating force field to tear apart the writhing flesh of silkworms; even flesh and blood cannot withstand the power of these technological weapons.
At close range, the flamethrower mounted on the Terminator's arm revealed its fangs; the promethium flames were extremely hot, and the filarial worms rolled in the flames before finally turning to ashes.
(Guys, what are some quick ways to adjust a chaotic sleep schedule?)
