Chapter 9 Primarch
Chapter 9 Primarch
Waldo's bright eyes reflected the unclean things of the warp, and a look of disgust and distrust instinctively crept onto his face.
Out of a sense of duty, he nodded solemnly, gripped his halberd tightly, and turned to lead the way.
His eyes darted around out of the corner of his eye, keeping a watchful eye on the objects in the subspace, ready to strike at any moment and utterly destroy them.
"We can't let your efforts go to waste." Erda glanced briefly at the cold souls of those powerful demigods, then turned her head away, not daring to look any longer.
Immortals possess a special constitution that grants them eternal life and even resurrection from death, but they are unable to withstand the power of the warp.
Over the long years, she has come to know the dangerous nature of the warp.
The group hurried along without uttering a word, taking a stone elevator down to an underground laboratory buried deep within.
When the elevator came to a stop and the stone doors opened, the surrounding scenery underwent a dramatic transformation.
The underground space has been hollowed out, and the ceiling is crisscrossed with pipes that continuously supply energy.
The walls were covered with a jumble of cables and a web of pipes that looked like a spider web. The complexity of the web was such that even the original designer would be speechless and unable to look at it.
The floor was covered with gray stone slabs, and countless researchers in burqas moved among them, adjusting various machines and equipment.
At the very center of the laboratory stands a culture chamber.
The base is connected to a gray rock slab, and through the hollowed-out stone slab below, you can see all the energy pipes converging here.
All the machines and equipment in the laboratory serve them.
"My lord, everything is as you instructed, and all preparations are complete."
A woman of average appearance, medium build, and flaxen hair stepped forward and knelt down.
She raised both hands and held up a data panel, presenting it to her master: the Emperor.
Without uttering a word, the emperor gently took the data panel and instantly understood all its contents:
Everything is perfect, everything is ready.
A gentle spiritual power lifted the woman up; the emperor remembered everything the biologist had done.
And her name, Chief Geneticist: Amar Astartes.
"You may leave," the Emperor said without uttering a word, his radiance illuminating every dark corner of the laboratory.
The emperor rarely spoke to his people; his will resided in Waldo, and his servants acted on his behalf.
The deep, solemn voice of the Imperial Guard Commander, exuding imperial majesty, echoed throughout the underground laboratory:
"You don't need to get involved in what follows. Thank you for your past contributions; the sweat you shed is your immortal medal."
"Worship our Lord! Humanity will be great again!"
The crowd prostrated themselves, sobbing as they looked up with tears in their eyes, then immediately lowered their heads to suppress their excitement and called out loudly.
Mortals are too fragile to look directly at the emperor's light.
Even a slight gaze could burn through their corneas, causing blindness.
The emperor's followers were not afraid of going blind, for by beholding the glory of the Lord of mankind, all darkness could be dispelled.
But they obeyed the emperor's orders and continued to contribute to humanity in the future, nothing more.
All the staff in the laboratory were like this; they knelt down, tears streaming down their faces, in worship of the Lord of Mankind.
"Please leave quickly, everyone," Erda said, her eyes slightly red, moved by the enthusiasm and emotion of the staff.
These people have sacrificed so much for the future!
Her elegant voice was choked with emotion as she urged the staff to leave, her tone firm yet gentle: "We still have things to do, and we need to force every second to be on our side."
The staff members gradually stood up, wiped away their tears, and left in an orderly manner.
They dared not look up at the Lord of mankind, using all their strength to suppress the reverence that welled up from the depths of their souls, lest they kneel down again.
"let's start."
When only four people remained in the experiment, the Emperor placed his hand on Erda's back.
The two, radiating a hazy glow, walked hand in hand to the incubation chamber. The Emperor had devoted all his efforts and resources to the plan, creating the amniotic fluid incubation chamber to cultivate the "genetic prototype".
Like a couple in love, performing a ceremony.
There is a true God in the universe, and rituals must be taken seriously.
Through a special ritual, the forces of the subspace are brought to their maximum effect in the universe.
Anchoring a demigod's soul in reality requires not only a physical vessel but also the assistance of subspace rituals.
The Primarch is an indispensable part of Project Monarch. Or rather, without the Primarch, the project cannot continue.
When the emperor looked up at the starry sky, humanity's most powerful psionicist had never felt so powerless.
The universe is filled with countless stars, and humanity is scattered throughout the Milky Way. The Milky Way is too vast, and conquering it would take far too long.
Humanity has too short a window of opportunity, and ordinary human soldiers are too fragile to shoulder the burden of conquering the stars.
The Forbidden Army, born from bio-alchemy, certainly possesses the absolute strength to conquer the galaxy, but it has an irreparable flaw.
Each member of the Imperial Guard is an ultimate being created through genetic alchemy; they are unique and irreplaceable works of art.
Due to its lengthy manufacturing process and the resources it consumes, mass production of the Imperial Guard was impossible.
Constantine Waldo once asked Macardo:
"The Imperial Guard is the Emperor's most loyal and powerful warrior, so why not use it to conquer the stars?"
Makado looked up at the stars in the sky and said helplessly, "Then the empire established by the emperor will only have the Imperial Guard."
The Imperial Guard is far too expensive; the planned Imperial Guard of ten thousand men would require the entire galaxy as a resource supply. The armor they wear has already drained the Emperor's accumulated reserves.
The cost of manufacturing a single suit of armor could bankrupt some of the planets scattered throughout the galaxy.
Waldo was stunned for a second after hearing this, which is equivalent to a long time for an average person to think.
The commander of the Imperial Guards finally sighed helplessly, shook his head, and stopped discussing the topic.
The sheer volume of resources required to create a legion of Imperial Guards is beyond Terra's capacity, and even beyond the future Empire's capacity.
Even with all resources forcibly produced the Imperial Guard, the entire Empire couldn't even cobble together a single decent spaceship.
Even the mighty Imperial Guard could hardly possibly travel by boat, sailing and rowing, across distances measured in light-years to conquer worlds.
The deal between the Emperor and the Warp God involved not only twenty Lesser Godhoods, but also the Warp God's advanced and incomprehensible Warp technology.
In ancient times, emperors traveled to the Warp through a portal and gained much forbidden knowledge from it.
The Emperor's second journey into the warp was to obtain the "raw materials" needed to realize that knowledge: the souls of the warp subgods!
Using knowledge of subspace and combining it with the souls of lesser gods, the Emperor created unique life forms in the real universe.
Combining subspace and the real universe!
Using the subgods of the subspace as their souls, the Emperor and Ilda contributed their own genetic material to create physical vessels for the subgods in the real universe.
Then, extract the genetic factors of the secondary gods to create genetically modified warriors that can be mass-produced and replicate the power of the secondary gods.
The Emperor raised his hand and sent the demigod's divine core into the incubation chamber. His eyes lit up with golden psionic light. He raised his chin and chanted softly, the chant echoing in the laboratory.
Psionic runes flowed from his mouth like a musical score, and the psionic symbols flew toward the incubation chamber with the light.
Mysterious characters were engraved on the outer wall, anchoring the power of the subspace.
The sub-gods of the subspace merge with reality, and the power of the gods and the strongest psionicists in the real universe work together to unleash boundless power.
This is a miracle that cannot be achieved unilaterally; neither the Emperor nor the Warp God could achieve it.
The combination of reality and fantasy connects two completely different dimensions, creating dreamlike creatures.
To create a vessel capable of containing the soul of a powerful subdimensional god. This requires exceptional genetics, biotechnology from the real universe, and evil warp magic—all three are indispensable.
Psionic runes were imprinted on the outer wall of the incubation chamber, the engraved inscriptions shining brightly.
The power of the subspace gradually boiled, distorting physics and technology at the subatomic level and transforming the interior of mechanical creations.
While outwardly unchanged, the artificial amniotic fluid inside the culture chamber has become warm and full of life.
The machine's interior is like a human womb, warm and moist, capable of supporting the growth of life.
The secondary spirits rise and fall in the amniotic fluid, awaiting their vessel.
After doing all that, the emperor raised his hands, lightning crackling at his fingertips.
His immense spiritual energy surged forth, and a golden spiritual energy barrier slowly rose, protecting this place from the gaze of the Four Gods.
“My friend,” the Emperor dispersed his psionic energy and turned to Erda, speaking softly.
A ripple appeared in Wan Gu's usually calm eyes, and he felt an emotion he hadn't felt in a long time: "We need to contribute our genetic material."
"My long-term preparations can finally come in handy today."
Erda lay down inside a closed machine, her eyes closed, ready to endure anything.
Light illuminated the cabin as probes made of light continuously extracted genetic material from Erda's body.
A fine layer of sweat appeared on Erda's smooth forehead. She instinctively straightened her back to resist the spasms, and her body trembled continuously.
Clearly, the pain caused by extracting genetic material is unbearable for most people.
The Emperor raised his palm, and Waldo handed him a ceremonial knife. He gently slashed his palm, and blood, as bright red as a jewel, flowed out.
Waldo turned his head away, not wanting to look directly at him.
He vowed to protect the mainstream bloodline, and became increasingly dissatisfied with the birth of the Primarch, thinking: How absurd is this?
The most defiled and corrupt thing in the subspace unites with the purest human being in the real universe.
Crimson blood flowed from the Emperor's palm, and psionic energy carried the blood into each incubation chamber, combining with Erda's genetic material and merging with the soul of the sub-god of the warp.
His eyes gleamed with psionic energy once more as he scanned the incubation chamber, chanting softly to himself.
The flowing blood carries the powerful essence of the strongest psychic in the real universe, endowing the pure demigod soul with various great wisdom and power:
"Ideals, rationality, gentleness, responsibility, restraint, kindness, humility, fairness, tolerance, courage, beauty, purity, perseverance, resilience, patience..."
These desirable qualities were what the emperor expected of the progenitor.
But as a "human being," emperors also possess inherent disharmonious elements, such as ambition, a desire for conquest, sorrow, stubbornness, and hatred...
The emperor did not eliminate these elements; the war machine was modeled after humans. Only by possessing human emotions can one understand humans, and only by possessing humanity can one be considered complete.
Each Primarch is a being that combines a warp demigod with humanity; they possess immense power and are full of humanity.
While understanding themselves, they fulfill the mission entrusted to them by humanity.
Whether it's healing wounds, ruling, conquering, or keeping dark secrets.
