Chapter 354 Morgoth
Chapter 354 Morgoth
Dui reacted instantly, his face turning ugly and filled with murderous intent as he stared at Saruman:
"You told Sauron about that sacrificial magic circle?"
Saruman nodded, his face calm: "I know that the sacrificial circle was offered to Morgoth. Such magic circles were all destroyed and erased by the Valar army when Morgoth was defeated and banished to the Void in ancient times, but for some reason the magic circle at the Black Barbarian Shrine was left behind."
Originally, I was just curious about what you did at the Black Barbarian Shrine. After using the True Knowledge Crystal to go back in time, I saw the sacrificial magic circle that you destroyed. Out of curiosity and for research, I wrote it down.
Until my physical form was destroyed by you, and my soul flew to Mordor, where Sauron seized the opportunity to control me and make me his servant, thus this sacrificial array fell into his hands.
Elrond also knew about the sacrificial magic circle of the Black Barbarian Shrine, and had Dui destroy the magic circle diagram he had drawn to avoid future troubles.
Hearing Saruman's explanations, Sauron frowned and asked, "That magic circle was an evil spell cast by Morgoth's followers, who sacrificed human lives to him. How did Sauron use it to regain his power?"
Saruman explained, “Because this sacrificial array can connect with Morgoth, even though Morgoth has been banished to the void beyond the world. As long as enough sacrifices are made, Sauron can reconnect with his former master and regain power through Morgoth’s strength.”
Then Saruman's lips curled into a mocking smile: "The only problem is that once Morgoth is connected to the sacrificial magic circle, Morgoth may use the magic circle to obtain the location of Arda and thus return to this world."
Although Sauron had once been Morgoth's servant, having become king himself, why would he willingly return to slavery? That's why he didn't choose this potentially risky method to regain his power.
"But now, because of your appearance, Duir has caused Sauron's plans to keep going wrong, and Mordor's power has been confined to the Far East, putting it in a passive position."
"Since my mission has failed, and Sauron has no hope of reclaiming the One Ring, he may very well use a sacrificial magic circle to contact Morgoth. Morgoth is far more terrifying than Sauron, and with Morgoth's help, Sauron's power will undoubtedly increase."
After hearing Saruman's words, the atmosphere became heavy.
Sauron was one thing, but now Morgoth has been dragged into this mess, casting a shadow over everyone's hearts.
Galadriel, in particular, experienced the Age of Morgoth and participated in the war against Morgoth, and has a deep memory of Morgoth's terrifying power.
In Galadriel's eyes, Sauron's power was no match for Morgoth's; even if Sauron was powerful, he was still just a Maya-level demon.
Morgoth, on the other hand, was the most powerful of the Valar. It was only through the combined efforts of all the Valar that he was defeated in the War of Wrath and banished to the void beyond the world.
But in the battles against Morgoth, Middle-earth was shattered countless times, the earth cracked, continents sank, and the world was destroyed, as if it were the end of the world.
The Elves suffered heavy losses in their battles against Morgoth.
Although Gandalf and Elrond did not personally witness Morgoth's war, they had heard of Morgoth's power.
Evil creatures such as orcs, trolls, dire wolves, and dragons were all created by Morgoth. There are also powerful beings like the Balrog, whom Sauron dared not underestimate, yet they are among Morgoth's powerful servants.
Dui, who had also heard Saruman's words, looked at Saruman with a complicated and suspicious expression: "What is your purpose in telling us this information? Do you want us to spare your life?"
Saruman ignored Dui's suspicious gaze and laughed nonchalantly, "Perhaps this is my dying regret? Or perhaps I just don't want that Sauron fellow to have an easy time?"
Then his gaze passed through the wall and turned westward, his eyes filled with nostalgia and longing.
"Perhaps I made the wrong choice from the very beginning... Now I've ultimately lost the right to go back..."
As he sighed, a west wind appeared out of nowhere in the room and blew toward Saruman.
To Dui's astonishment, Saruman's soul dissipated with the west wind and vanished from the room.
"What was that just now?" Dui turned to Gandalf and the others in surprise.
The room was sealed off, making it impossible for any wind to rise. Yet, the strange wind ignored the walls and blew in from the west, causing Saruman to vanish completely.
Neither Elrond nor Galadriel spoke, but seemed lost in thought.
Gandalf sighed, "Saruman has gone where he was meant to be. Don't worry, Duir, Saruman will not appear again." Duir also had some guesses about the strange wind coming from the west.
But since Gandalf had already said so, he didn't ask any more questions.
Although he couldn't completely destroy Saruman's soul, he wasn't disappointed, as long as he wouldn't reappear.
Having dealt with the major problem of Saruman, Dui turned his attention to Edward.
Edward was taken to the school infirmary for treatment. With the help of Mrs. Amanda and Elrond, the most skilled physician in Middle-earth, Edward quickly regained consciousness.
Edward's soul has been affected by Saruman's possession for a long time, and he is also affected by the corruption of the Ring of Power. He needs to stay in bed for treatment for a period of time.
According to Edward's account, he was actually possessed and controlled by Saruman not long after the start of the school year.
Saruman was originally possessing the body of a second-year student from Eisengard. When he saw his enemy, Dui, at the opening banquet, he unconsciously revealed a trace of malice, which Dui noticed.
Feeling insecure, Saruman originally intended to possess Arwen, or even the child in her womb, to threaten Dui into handing over the One Ring and the Philosopher's Stone.
But he didn't expect Dui to react so quickly, sending Alvin to the secluded valley to recuperate and prepare for childbirth, causing his plot to fail.
Saruman then set his sights on Edward, who was not only the vice-principal and second only to Dui in power at the school, but also Dui's trusted steward and had a lot of autonomy in the castle.
So Saruman, who was possessing the student, took the opportunity to come to the Transfiguration office, approached Edward under the guise of asking him about Transfiguration, ambushed him when he was off guard, and successfully possessed Edward.
Using Edward's identity and his access to Duy's private domain, he sought to find out information about the search for the One Ring and the Philosopher's Stone.
In order to prevent Edward, the main possessor, from being exposed, and to make things easier and divert everyone's attention, he would occasionally possess students and other professors, causing a series of accidents.
It can be said that Saruman was cunning from beginning to end, and his disguise was flawless.
So that neither Duy, Gandalf, Galadriel, nor anyone else noticed anything amiss with Edward.
If it weren't for good luck, and the appearance of the Marauder's Map that exposed Saruman's existence, Saruman might have actually succeeded.
Fortunately, all of this is finally over now.
The school lifted martial law, and the atmosphere became relaxed and cheerful again.
The Quidditch match that had been cancelled was rescheduled and held again in a lively manner.
Apart from a few affected students and professors who need to come to the school clinic for regular check-ups and treatment, they are free to move around at other times.
As the shadow of the incident gradually faded, laughter and joy once again filled the castle.
The dwarven ring was fed to Smaug by Duy, and was instantly melted and devoured by a burst of dragonfire.
The more dangerous bottle containing the Black Death plague was eventually purified and destroyed by Galadriel, Gandalf, and Elrond, leaving no trace of danger.
Time flew by and it was March of the following year.
Dui had left the castle long ago, leaving all school affairs to Edward, and stayed in the valley with Alvin.
Alvin has been pregnant for three years now, and her due date is just around the corner.
