Chapter 27 Silver Mine
As soon as Rhode stepped into the woods, a system notification suddenly appeared in front of him.

[Should a marker be displayed at the location where a mixed silver-copper ore vein has been discovered?]

Silver mine?

Rod's heart skipped a beat—the money had arrived!
"show."

Standing still, with a thought, Rhodes sensed a blue dot in the distance to his right front, indicating that there were still 290 meters to go.

Most silver mines do not exist in isolation; they may be mixed with iron ore, copper ore, lead ore, and so on.

But this does not hinder silver production.

"My lord, what have you discovered?"

Raine's voice rang out, drawing Rhodes' attention back.

Rhodes shook his head slightly.

"fine."

The silver mine can't be run away from, so Rhodes isn't in a hurry.

Visibility is poor in the mountains at night, so there's no need to risk going in.

Rhodes didn't say anything more. He bent down and collected all the arrows in the forest, then returned to his camp.

High-end ingredients often require only simple cooking methods.

The wild rabbit, after being cut and sprinkled with salt, is roasted until golden brown. No other spices are needed; just a sprinkle of chili powder is enough to make it sweet and delicious.

Unfortunately, the wild rabbits weren't very plump, and all seven of them needed some dry food to fill their stomachs after eating.

Durant and others took turns keeping watch over the fire at night, and Rod slept soundly all night.

The next morning.

As soon as it was light, the team set off into the mountains and forests.

The marker in Rhodes's field of vision only indicated a straight-line distance; the target was in the valley opposite.

Below the valley was a nearly dried-up stream, its pitiful waters flowing down the moss-covered cracks in the rocks, turning into puddles at the foot of the mountain.

Under the pretext of washing his face, Rod took Durant and jumped down the hillside together to observe the stones in the water.

A flash of silvery-white light caught Rod's attention.

"found it!"

Rod exclaimed inwardly, reaching his hand into the icy stream and pulling out the silvery-white stone.

"check it out."

Rod casually tossed the stone to Durant, who was standing next to him.

"This is... silver ore?"

Durant looked at the luster on the stone and asked in surprise, "Where did you find this?"

Rod gestured with his lips, indicating to Durant to look into the puddle in the water.

Inside the water cave hidden by rocks, there was a faint, almost imperceptible light.

"This is a silver mine?!"

Durant, deeply shocked, swallowed hard to keep himself from shouting.

This is money!

Pure money!
Without hesitation, Durant found a rock by the stream and blocked the hole under the puddle.

"I don't think we have the capability to mine it yet; we need to keep it hidden, sir!"

Durant realized what he had done after throwing the stone and immediately explained, "I'm sorry, sir, I made this decision without your permission..."

"You think the same way I do."

Rod reached out and interrupted Durant, saying, "Even if you make a mistake, I won't blame you. I understand your loyalty."

No one can replace Durant's position now.

"Thank you for your trust."

Durant bowed respectfully.

He hesitated for a moment, then took a step forward and said in a low voice, "My lord, the Northern Wasteland is not like the Tulip Family's Earl's Territory. When the silver mines here are developed, there is a high chance that someone will try to seize them."

You should have started planning much earlier.

"Yes, I know you'll soon be back to your old job."

Rhodes nodded in agreement.

Durant was an excellent instructor at Tulip Castle.

Both the silver mines and the convoys transporting them needed more troops to protect them.

Training is one thing, but it also means that farmers or slaves are no longer able to work. The town's four hundred-plus people cannot support such a demand solely through farming.

Rhodes needs more food as a foundation.

This includes not only farmland, but also meat, fish, and eggs.

There is still much room for development in Heisongling.

"I understand, my lord!"

Durant's gaze was firm, and a hint of excitement flickered across his face. "I will train even more troops for you!"

Rhodes nodded and patted Durant on the shoulder.

"No rush, we'll take it slow, everything we need will come."

……

……

Then, after marking the spot on the map, they climbed up the hillside and continued on their way.

Rhodes was overjoyed to have discovered the silver mine and looked forward to the journey ahead even more.

The mountains and forests are vast and the terrain is complex. When they encounter high mountains that jut out from the ground, Rod and his companions have to take a long detour.

Fortunately, the journey was worthwhile; after two days, another iron ore vein was discovered in the northeast corner.

To Rhodes's further delight, Aleya discovered a wooden cabin with smoke rising from its chimney at the foot of the mountain.

We no longer need to sleep outdoors.

Everyone was very happy and quickly descended the mountain, heading towards the wooden house.

The small courtyard consisting of three wooden houses soon came into Rhodes' view, with the smoke coming from the middle wooden house.

"Aleya, go check if there's any danger."

Raine gave instructions to his daughter.

Aleya nodded.

"Roar!"

Before she could turn around, a deafening roar suddenly came from the direction of the wooden house!

"It's a black bear!"

Renn exclaimed in surprise!
All eyes turned to Rhodes!

"Hurry up and save people!"

Rhodes shouted urgently, and Raine leaped down, sliding all the way down the hillside!
Aleya and Gunle followed closely behind, and Rhodes and the others quickly caught up, rushing toward the cabin!

Before we even reached the cabin, we heard screams coming from the yard!
Through the open door, Rod saw a huge black bear pinning a man down and tearing him apart!

At that moment, a woman carrying a hoe rushed out of the wooden house toward the black bear, but was swatted away by its paw!
This scene enraged Rhodes.
"Kill it! Kill it now!"

Almost at the same time, Renn stopped and an arrow flew from his bow, hitting the black bear in the back with precision!
"Roar!"

The black bear, in pain, roared again and turned to look for its attacker!
At that moment, Aleia's arrow was already in motion, instantly striking the black bear in the neck!

Surprisingly, the black bear was incredibly resilient; not only did it not fall, it charged towards Rhodes and the others!

Gunle picked up his battle axe and charged toward the black bear, when Rod called out to him from behind!
"I want to kill it with my own hands!"

Rod stared intently at the black bear and roared, "Die!"

Upon seeing Rhodes charging towards him, the black bear unexpectedly stopped and even retreated slightly!
"Scared now? Too late!"

Rod gave the black bear no chance to escape, wielding his steel greatsword and leaping into the air, slashing down amidst the bear's terrified gaze!

Pfft!

The black bear's head flew off like a ball, and its body crashed heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of mud and sand.

Durant, who was standing nearby, quickly went over to check the figure on the ground.

The sight of the mangled flesh made him glance at it before turning away, frowning and shaking his head at Rhodes.

Rod turned to look at the woman who had been knocked away.

Alaya was already beside the woman, trying to check her breathing, but saw a pool of bright red blood flowing from under her head.

Aleya looked up at Rhodes.
"She's not going to make it either..."

"That damned beast!"

Rhodes raised his greatsword and plunged it into the black bear's head!

The initial joy at seeing signs of human habitation was now completely overwhelmed by anger!
"Sir, are you okay?"

Durant was equally upset, but he hadn't expected Rhodes to be so angry.
