Chapter 30 The Incredible Pancake

Chapter 30 The Incredible Pancake
Chen Shijun didn't know why this girl ran away back then if she liked him so much, but since she said so, he decided to believe her for the time being.

I enjoy watching her act like she doesn't actually regret it, but tries to appear to. Her poor acting skills show she has absolutely no talent for acting in TV dramas.

This girl never thought of performing for Chen Shijun alone, and the space was very cramped, limited to the bar counter. She used to perform standing up for fans, but this time she had to sit.

"Miyeon, performance is performance, why are you covering your face! How can you not let your fans see your face? This is definitely going to get a bad review."

Chen Shijun, as the number one fan, absolutely could not accept his ex-girlfriend's blushing face and lip-biting expression, and his booing made Meiyan's face look like it was about to drip water.

With her feet in white socks propped up on the bar, she felt like a puppet being manipulated at will. Fortunately, Chen Shijun knew that they couldn't rush things.

He took her wet, slender hand in his. The girl's face was flushed, her lips slightly parted, but her eyes were unfocused. Chen Shijun's kiss was met with a slapping sound as their lips met.

"Let's stay loving and affectionate until next year. Oppa has forgiven your behavior. Be good from now on."

As for whether he had truly forgiven her, Meiyan was honestly unsure, since this person was always a mix of truth and falsehood. But since he had said that, it did put her at ease.

If I behave obediently enough, I should be able to get back to my previous state soon, and maybe I can even get the title of "girlfriend" back?

Happy New Year, Miyeon!

……

Chen Shijun particularly enjoyed watching the scene of a woman buttoning up her clothes with her back to him. This woman, who looked like a silly, big sister, kept yelling that she was going to die from being late, while rushing to put on her clothes and rushing into the bathroom as if her pants were on fire.

I couldn't help but smile. People are always better than before, and there was a reason why I used to dote on her.

Although it's New Year's Day holiday, I still have very important things to do. Secretary Li drove downstairs early in the morning to wait for me, clearly having been deprived of his holiday as well.

"Everything is ready. It was all purchased according to Director Chen's requirements. Would you like to take a look?"

Chen Shijun waved his hand, indicating that he trusted Chen Shijun to handle the matter, and that the gift was not particularly valuable, just some tea and health products.

My mentor's assets are second only to mine, not less than mine. The AhnLab antivirus software alone is worth 200 billion won. He was already a billionaire when I was a student, and he is also one of the richest politicians.

The apartment in Ahara Ward was just one of his residences. Generally, teachers lived in villas in Bundang Ward. Chen Shijun's car entered the quiet neighborhood.

The mentor you are about to face may be a disillusioned figure in South Korean politics, but his role as a symbol of the middle way cannot be denied.

This period should be considered his political introspection period, as he is struggling with a transition, just like himself. However, his sudden return to China after finishing his studies in Germany suggests that he may be unable to resist returning to politics.

Two years ago, in order to integrate the centrist forces, the People's Party, represented by Ahn Cheol-soo, and conservative lawmakers who split from the ruling Saenuri Party jointly established the Bareunmirae Party, which at one time was a third force with 30 seats in the legislature.

Now, it seems to be caught in an ideological dilemma. Dr. An, who claims to be a reformer of the middle way, has not succeeded in integrating "conservative rationality" and "progressive reformism". Instead, it has become a loose alliance of multiple factions.

The Ahn Cheol-soo faction, the right-wing Yoo Seung-min faction, the left-wing Son Hak-kyu faction, and even far-right forces like Lee Yeon-joo, all suffered a crushing defeat in the 18 local elections, and their conflicts erupted instantly.

With the upcoming parliamentary elections, this Frankenstein's monster seems to be nearing its end, and Dr. An's return this time is definitely not without its moves. The residence is hidden behind several pine and cypress trees. Chen Shijun noticed several bodyguards scattered around, which made perfect sense; putting aside his political status, he was also a billionaire.

"Time is like a wild donkey, it just keeps running. Shijun, you've got gray hair, just like my prostate always rebelling."

The chubby Dr. Ahn speaks with a bit of a Busan accent, which is similar to Eun-chae's, especially when he suddenly speaks.

Because the meeting was quite formal, Secretary Li unsurprisingly stayed in the car. Chen Shijun put down the gift in his hand and listened to his teacher's pleasantries and formalities for a while.

When his professor's wife served him tea, Chen Shijun didn't dare to be negligent at all. He immediately stood up and bowed. As a professor at his alma mater, Seoul National University College of Medicine, she undoubtedly belonged to the top of society in this country.

"Shijun, there's no need to be so formal. I just got back and will be staying here for now."

After a few rounds of tea, the conversation gradually turned to more intimate topics. Dr. An soon shared his intention to withdraw from the Future Party, and took a booklet from the bookshelf, which Chen Shijun accepted with both hands.

Upon closer inspection, it was a "People's Party Policy White Paper," with the words "Reconstructing South Korea: From Growth to Symbiosis" prominently displayed on the title page. Chen Shijun pretended to flip through it but didn't take it to heart.

Dr. An was definitely not showing these things to me out of boredom. Turning his head to look at a campaign poster on the desk, he gained a general understanding of his teacher's thoughts.

“You have already proven yourself with your success in Dunamu, but sometimes difficulties may require political power to overcome. Please help me.”

Opening a document, the first page is titled "Recommendation Form for Proportional Representative Candidates of the People's Party," and Chen Shih-Chun's name is listed as one of the representatives from the economic sector.

Silence filled the room, with only the rich aroma of tea surrounding Chen Shijun. His thoughts raced for a moment, but he quickly calmed himself down.

"Shijun will never forget his mentor's expectations, but he has always firmly believed that he can only be a creator of value, not a participant in political games."

Chen Shijun expressed his intention not to pursue politics. A fleeting, almost imperceptible look of surprise crossed An Zhexiu's eyes, but surprisingly, he did not try to persuade him further, clearly aware of his own predicament.

Clearly, the young Chen Shijun had no intention of taking on this role, and he didn't think the newly formed Ahn Cheol-soo faction could play any role in the upcoming election.

South Korea's political landscape is becoming increasingly polarized, with so-called centrist politics losing its foothold or shifting rapidly to the right.

The new People's Party had no chance of winning many party votes, and naturally could not win many proportional representation seats. In contrast, it now had a clearer path.

Professor An stared at his disciple, fully aware of the man's thoughts. However, he was not too disappointed. He had returned to China to reorganize the National Party, and Chen Shijun was just one of the people he had met recently.

Seeing his disciple bow and prepare to leave, Professor An escorted him step by step to the door, watching Chen Shijun put on his coat and step into the night.

"At the party platform launch next month, even if you're just an audience member, come and watch it live, even if you're just sitting in the audience."

He simply pinned a Kuomintang badge lightly to the inside of Chen Shih-Chun's coat, patted him on the shoulder to signal him to be careful on the road, and looked like a kind elder.

"I just want to show my students how far teachers can go these days."

Please keep reading, it's very important for the new book, brothers, I'm begging you!
