I'm still quite dazed.

I've been writing this book for a month now, and many readers have probably seen my comments. This is my first time writing an online novel; I've only ever submitted my work to periodicals and magazines before.

The initial reason for writing this book was a sudden whim. While reading about Peking University security guards on Qidian.com, I suddenly had a thought: Why can't literary giants of the era create their own works?
I casually wrote tens of thousands of words and posted them on Qidian.com. To my surprise, the book was signed the very next day.

I want to thank Wutong here. My first online novel, which was signed and published, is now out in a great hurry. Wutong is very patient and generous with his guidance to a newcomer like me. Thank you again!
At first, the results weren't good, and many people criticized it. Some said that no one would read original content, some said that the pacing was too bad, and some said that the content was too bland. In the middle of the writing, some controversial plots also appeared. Some of them were intentional on my part, while others were due to my failure to control the direction and pacing well.

At the beginning, I acknowledged that what these readers said made sense, but I didn't really care because I didn't think the book would amount to anything, I didn't expect anyone to read it, I didn't think about the results, I just wanted to write the stories in my head and express the emotions I wanted to express.

But suddenly more people were reading it, and some said: I like the book you wrote.

Thus, this book takes on a special significance.

It turns out that my writing can be recognized on Qidian.

I started to hope that this book would achieve some success, be seen by more people, and be recognized by more people, so I frequently read comments, replied to comments, checked data, and made revisions to some controversial plot points.

Back then, I would check the backstage every minute; looking back now, I realize I was filled with anxiety and uncertainty.

This book reached as high as 12th on the overall new book list, 2nd in its category, and 349th on the monthly ticket list. This inevitably made me have higher expectations for my own abilities and start hoping that it could be published in the Three Rivers list.
Of course, there was no result!
It's a bit of a shame, I was down for two days, but thinking about it, it's my first book, nothing is perfect. My abilities are limited, and I'm still working on my novel writing skills. So, I just hope that this book will get better and better, bringing readers more experiences of 1979 and more discussions about literature and social sciences.

I don't expect too much else; this is enough. After all, this book carries not only my hard work but also the expectations of my readers.

I could actually update ten chapters, but I'll keep two chapters handy to deal with any unexpected situations. I've been in a bad mood these past two days and have only been updating at a low 4k speed, haha.

As for future updates, it will most likely be three chapters or two chapters per day (5-7k words). If I'm in good shape or have a backlog of chapters at the end of the month, I might update 8 or 10k words a day. Please don't criticize! This update schedule is a lot of work for me. I write very slowly, and I also have to write other books within the book. The hardest part is that I have to work on multiple projects at the same time. My daily work is really complicated. I can only say that I will do my best to update as much as possible for everyone. One more thing: if there are any patrons, one patron will get 5 extra chapters, and one leader will get 1 extra chapter. (I'm not really hoping for that. After reading so many novels over the years, everyone says patrons get extra chapters, so I'll add my own comment! It's all about the experience!)
