Doomsday America

Chapter 2: He ran faster than him

Chapter 2: He ran faster than him

About ten seconds later, the vomiting turned into dry heaving.

Gavin suppressed his nausea and palpitations, spat out the acid in his mouth, and shivered as he retreated from the bathroom.

Carrying his military knife, he approached the window, crouched down, and pressed his face against the floor-to-ceiling window to survey the villa's backyard.

The pool is still the same pool, but the figure that was just tumbling has fallen into the water.

The dark crimson color spread rapidly in the pool under the lights, becoming increasingly bloody as the two stirred the water.

"call."

Gavin exhaled a sour breath, carefully took two steps back, gently drew the curtains, then hid in the corner of the window and opened the curtains a little to continue watching.

The gunfire in the yard had long since ceased, and there were no more screams. Only a few twisting, darting figures moved swiftly through the garden.

There was no screaming, or rather, those screams couldn't penetrate well-insulated glass.

But Gavin's mood didn't improve at all.

Because those hideous figures ran too fast!

Just like a 100-meter sprint!
With a heavy heart, Gavin lowered the curtains, returned to the bedside, and plopped down on the floor.

The comfortable carpet and soft bed offered him no comfort whatsoever, but the cell phone on the bedside table provided a little warmth.

He belatedly reached for the phone, glanced at the time—2:52 AM.

The outbreak of a zombie crisis at this time makes things even worse.

Tonight is my night of celebration, a night of glory as I led the Dallas Cowboys to five consecutive championships in the NFL.

That's when I finally had the energy to play until almost 3 a.m., and witnessed Gigi turn into a zombie in the bathroom.

What about the others?

Even someone like me has only ever seen Los Angeles at 4 a.m.!

And it's only 3 a.m.!

During this period, if even one person in a family becomes like Gigi, that family will likely face total annihilation.

No attack is more deadly than one launched while the victim is asleep.

My mind was filled with a jumble of uncontrollable thoughts.

Gavin scrolled through his phone quickly, but couldn't find a single piece of information related to zombies.

There were no news reports of various epidemics that appeared before the zombie crisis, as often depicted in movies.

There are no front-line videos of zombie outbreaks around the world that are often seen in games.

Looking at the messages on his phone, Gavin even felt that this was a prank, as if the zombie crisis had only broken out in his own manor villa!
Boom boom boom!
Teng!
The sudden banging on the door made Gavin jump up from the bedside.

He ran to the door in one breath and nervously looked at the door that was constantly rattling.

Boom boom boom!
"Gavin!"

A hurried shout came from outside the door.

"Are you fucking still alive?!"

Madison?!

Gavin was startled. He recognized the voice; it was his guard, who had been with him on the Cowboys' offense for four years.

It is a behemoth that is 207 centimeters tall and weighs 310 pounds.

Upon hearing Gavin's voice, Madison was visibly startled for a moment, then began banging on the door even faster.

"Damn it, thank goodness you're still alive!"

"Open the door now, please, open the door!"

"They're catching up! Gavin, help me, Gavin!"

Bang bang bang!

Hearing the increasingly urgent banging on the door, Gavin had no time to think and had to make a choice.

Should we let Madison, who can still speak for now, into our room?

He couldn't help but glance back at Gigi in the bathroom.

If Madison were to turn into a zombie, given his physique, he would never be able to be dealt with as easily as he had with Gigi!
After a moment of stunned silence, Gavin simply reached out and opened the door, causing the staggering Madison to stumble and fall inside.

thump!
As Madison pounced on the carpet, she scrambled forward on all fours, shouting to Gavin.

"Close the door! Close the door!"

"I know!"

As Gavin responded, he quickly peeked out and glanced to the left and right.

In the left corridor, two blood-stained figures were only seven or eight meters away from the door. They were his former teammates, and now they were charging towards him with ferocious hands and feet.

There was no one in the right-hand corridor; only the faint moonlight could be seen through the window at the end of the corridor.

After a quick glance, Gavin shrank back and slammed the door shut, locking it from the inside. Just as he locked the door, a violent thrashing sound came from outside.

boom!
The impact of his teammates' strong bodies slamming into the door made Gavin's heart skip a beat.

Madison crawled five or six meters under his feet before finally managing to turn over and sit on the ground.

With his hands braced against the carpet, Madison spoke rapidly, his voice trembling.

“Leonard is dead. He was bitten to death right in front of me by Kendrick. I even saw Kendrick pull out Leonard’s intestines and stuff them into his mouth!”

"Kendrick is insane, he's a madman!"

"Leonard's gone mad too. His guts were practically ripped out, and he still lunged at me! I was terrified! I peed my pants in the hallway! Damn it, damn it..."

"Shut up!"

Gavin turned around and took two steps, then kicked Madison in the shin, causing Madison to wriggle back a little in pain.

Just as he was about to get up, he turned his head and saw Gigi lying across the bathroom.

"Fake!"

He was startled, quickly got up from the floor, grabbed the glass wall of the bathroom, and nervously looked at Gavin.

"You killed someone! You killed someone too!"

As he spoke, he looked even more nervously at the knife in Gavin's hand.

"Shut up, be quiet, don't tell me you don't know what those things look like!"

Gavin cursed at him, then scrutinized Madison's entire body.

Good. Apart from being a bit disheveled, Old Mike had no wounds or bloodstains on his body and didn't look like he would turn into a zombie.

As for whether Old Mac will cause him trouble...

It's okay, Gavin knows he can run faster than Michael.

Across from him, upon hearing Gavin's words, Madison's Adam's apple bobbed, and he asked.

"You mean...dirty guy?"

"Otherwise, could it be rabies?"

Gavin cursed, then returned to the door, looking worriedly at the door that was being repeatedly rammed.

He knows his teammates Kendrick and Leonard too well; the two of them together weigh at least 580 pounds. Can this door really withstand their full-force impact?

But get rid of them...

What a joke! Gavin isn't even wearing underwear right now, how could he possibly take that risk?

So Gavin leaned against the door, trying to protect it, and said to Madison.

"Old Mai".

"I'm here. What did you say? I'm a little confused, damn it."

Madison's voice grew softer and softer, and he himself slid down the glass wall of the bathroom until he slumped back onto the floor in dejection.

Gavin frowned at his wet underwear and gave a silent order.

"Give me my phone, it's on the bed, hurry up!"

"OK, I know, I... damn it, I left my phone in the room!"

Madison muttered to himself instinctively as he scrambled to his feet, stiff as a corpse, and headed toward the bed.

After crossing a distance of sixteen or seventeen meters, he went to the bed, picked up his phone, and turned back to hand it to Gavin.

As a fellow offensive player, quarterback Gavin was undoubtedly the team's brain and core, and Madison was already used to following Gavin's instructions.

However, as he passed the restroom, he ultimately turned his head away, unable to bear looking at Gigi lying there.
"Give."

As Madison handed the phone to Gavin, he swallowed hard, giving Gavin an expectant look, as if asking himself what else he could do.

He's a little panicked and confused right now, and instinctively wants to find something to do to distract himself.

Seeing Madison's stunned expression, Gavin leaned against the door, opened his phone, and pointed to the bathroom.

"Go rinse it off, buddy."

"I'll listen to you, damn it, I really need to take a good shower... no, I need to hurry up and get out of here, we still have to get away, damn it!"

Madison walked towards the bathroom with a sigh of relief, dodging Gigi and heading towards the showerhead.

Just then, Gavin's voice continued to come from behind him.

"Don't fucking shower, use the bathtub, that thing is much quieter."

By the way, is your phone ringtone loud? Compared to Leonard and the others, whose ringtone is louder?
I remember our coach's phone ringtone was really loud; he wasn't very good at hearing.

As he spoke, Gavin selected a number and dialed it.
