Super Magician: The Magic Network Collapsed Again at the Start
Chapter 11 I'm Not Old Six
Chapter 11 I'm Not the Sixth
The grey dwarves had assumed the human spellcasters would run out of energy after casting a few spells, but the spells seemed endless. Their psionic spells, with their shorter range, couldn't reach them at all, much to their chagrin.
Seeing that Anser and the archers posed too great a threat, they wanted to move the battlefield back, but everyone was entangled in the battle, and a hasty retreat could lead to a rout.
However, as a large number of slaves belonging to the gray dwarves were eliminated, the human side gained the upper hand, and the battlefield gradually shifted.
Anser surveyed the battlefield. The nearest enemy was more than forty meters away, beyond the theoretical range of a spell, but he could still hit them, though his accuracy was somewhat reduced.
'It must be related to my spellcasting attributes.'
His spellcasting attribute is Charisma, at 16 points, far exceeding that of an average person. As his Charisma increases, his casting speed, spell range, and control over magic all improve slightly.
"call--"
He paused his spellcasting, leaning on his staff to calm his breathing and relieve the throbbing pain in his head.
The continuous casting of spells left him mentally exhausted, nearly half of his magic power was depleted, and a faint sense of emptiness arose within him.
It seems that even with "magical control," his mind and body could not support him unleashing all his spells in one go.
"Roar--"
Suddenly, a deafening roar shook the mountains on both sides.
Anser was startled and looked in the direction of the sound. Suddenly, a bald giant over three meters tall appeared on the battlefield and was charging towards Rand.
'Gigantification Technique!'
The gray dwarf overseer has left the battlefield.
Anser nimbly jumped down the hillside and ran towards the battlefield.
Helping is secondary; the main problem is that standing on the slope is too conspicuous, and it would be troublesome if it attracted the bald giant's hatred.
He ran a few steps, hid behind the crowd, and quietly observed.
On the battlefield, the bald giant wielded his warhammer with astonishing force, while Rand mainly dodged, occasionally launching counterattacks.
The fight between the two was so intense that people around them quickly moved away to avoid being caught in the crossfire.
Anser discovered that Rand rarely casts second-circle divine spells, likely due to the influence of the magic network, while the psionic powers wielded by the grey dwarves do not depend on the magic network.
Fortunately, it was daytime, and the gray dwarves were sensitive to sunlight. In addition, the paladins mainly used light attacks, which were relatively effective against them, so Rand could barely protect himself.
At this moment, Zahir finished off his opponent and rushed forward to join forces with Rand to deal with the bald giant.
Nevertheless, the bald giant remained as imposing as ever. With one swing of his hammer, Rand was unable to dodge in time and was knocked to the ground, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, and a dent was clearly visible in his shield.
'Unfortunately, I don't know any support spells,' Anser sighed inwardly.
He doesn't dare to attack now; if the bald giant really wants to take him down, Rand might not be able to stop him.
He inadvertently glanced at the sun above the giant's head and a thought struck him: 'Solar sensitivity!'
As far as he knew, the grey dwarves were resistant to poisons, illusions, and charms, but had a sensory disadvantage in sunlight.
His dragon magic command spell grants the target a perception immunity; if the immunity fails, the target must obey one of his commands.
'His perception shouldn't be very high.'
With that thought in mind, he didn't hesitate any longer and quickly approached the battlefield, while simultaneously mobilizing all his magical power.
He stepped out of the crowd, leaning on his cane with his left hand and pointing at the gray dwarf overseer with his right, shouting angrily:
"lay down!"
An invisible magical effect enveloped the bald giant, who was visibly stunned for a moment, a look of confusion flashing in his eyes, and he subconsciously released his warhammer.
Rand was jolted awake. Before the warhammer could hit the ground, he stepped forward and kicked it toward Zahir. Zahir grabbed the warhammer and hurled it forcefully onto the hillside.
The bald giant was furious that his weapon had disappeared in the blink of an eye. He turned to look for Anser, the sixth brother, only to find that the other man had already hidden behind the crowd. Blatt and the others rushed up and blocked his view.
"Roar... Awooo—"
Rand's sword cleaved a blood groove in his thigh, interrupting his roar.
The bald giant dared not be distracted. He quickly took two steps back, picked up a spear from the ground, and forced Rand and the other man back.
Then, with a wave of his hand, he ran away!
Upon seeing this, the other grey dwarves and slaves turned tail and ran without hesitation.
"Hoohoho..."
The humans brandished their weapons, made a few perfunctory threats, but did not pursue, nor were they able to.
'What a waste of so much experience.' Anser sighed inwardly, but he knew this was the best outcome.
Humanity has the Paladin, so they might be able to win if they fight head-on, but it's hard to say how many of them will survive.
Anser glanced around and saw that there were only about ten people still standing, and almost all of them were injured.
The ground was littered with corpses, limbs, entrails, and blood. His boots were covered in blood and mud from running just a few steps, the sticky feeling sending chills down his spine.
"Clean up the battlefield, quick—" Zahir called out to everyone and began using Holy Healing and healing potions to treat the wounded.
Anser glanced around, spotted the goblin who wasn't quite dead yet, his eyes lit up, and he stepped forward, smashing it to death with his club. [Target dead, gained 3 combat experience...]
He had little experience, but there was no danger. He grinned, revealing a set of gleaming white teeth.
Blatt shuddered at the sight: 'Such a deep-seated bloodlust.'
"Let someone else do this, you take a break."
He quickly stepped forward and grabbed Anser, believing that Anser was worried about his parents and was venting his emotions on the underground creatures.
"Uh, okay." Anser didn't insist; maintaining a normal persona was important.
"You are hurt?"
Blatt was covered in blood, his clothes were tattered, and he looked rather frightening.
"It's nothing, just a minor injury. Thanks for taking care of me." Blatt shook his head slightly, but this aggravated the wound on his neck, causing him to gasp in pain.
As the footsteps drew closer, the two turned their heads to look. Rand was walking briskly towards them, carrying his helmet in his left hand, with bloodstains on his mouth and ears, and a noticeable dent in his breastplate.
"Thank you both for your help." With that, Rand handed half a bottle of red potion to Blatt. "Here, take this."
"Then I won't stand on ceremony." Blatt smiled and reached out to take it, but didn't use it immediately.
This is a healing potion; a bottle is worth 50 gold coins, and even half a bottle is quite valuable.
“Your heroic deeds deserve more, but unfortunately I’m running out of potions,” Rand exclaimed, then looked at Anser. “Sir, we seem to have met somewhere before?”
“Uncle Rand, I am Anser Hollevin, do you remember the Sow's Trotter Bakery?” Anser reminded him.
His dragon bloodline subtly altered his appearance and physique, making him look completely different from before; it would be difficult for someone who wasn't familiar with him to recognize him.
"You are... Little Anser?" Rand stared intently at the tiny dragon scales on Anser's face, somewhat incredulous.
The two hadn't seen each other for years, and he simply couldn't connect the confident, mysterious spellcaster before him with the skinny boy he remembered.
“It’s me. I unexpectedly awakened my bloodline and became a sorcerer,” Anser said with a smile.
“Good, very good.” Rand patted his arm, lowered his head slightly, his expression complicated, but a hint of hesitation was revealed in the corner of his eyes.
Rand wasn't tall, only about 1.7 meters. Anser was half a head taller than him; he couldn't see Anser's expression, but he could sense that Anser wanted to say something but hesitated.
"what happened?"
“You…don’t go to the bakery.” Rand was silent for a moment, but decided to tell him anyway.
Anser's heart skipped a beat: "Something happened to my parents?"
“Yes, we were evacuating people yesterday. Your parents refused to leave and wanted to go find you, but the priests persuaded them not to. Later, rioters broke into the bakery and looted... By the time we found out, it was too late, and we could only hastily bury the bodies…”
Rand gripped Anser's arm tightly, as if afraid he would suddenly lose control.
Anser's breathing became heavy, his emotions churning and extremely complex, but there was not much sadness or regret. Instead, he felt a sense of relief and liberation.
Although it's a bit heartless, that's truly how he felt.
After all... he wasn't the original owner of this body.
supplement:
1. In D&D, attributes typically function based on "adjustment values." Strength and weight are also related to body size. These concepts are abstract and difficult to understand without playing in a group (this is directly related to the dice system).
For easier reading, please forget the above concepts and remember:
The attribute growth is non-linear; for every point increase, the corresponding ability is enhanced by more than 35%.
2. According to DND5R, spellcasting attributes (Intelligence, Charisma, etc.) cannot affect spell casting speed, spell range, and accuracy.
To be more realistic, this book sets up an attribute enhancement that will have a positive impact on various aspects of the spellcaster.
Once the spellcasting attribute exceeds 10 points, each additional point will increase control, casting speed, and spell range by 5%. For example, if the protagonist has 17 points in charm, the increase will be 35% (calculated by AI based on the attribute performance of legendary creatures).
