Super Magician: The Magic Network Collapsed Again at the Start

Chapter 23 Disaster Always One Step Ahead of Me

Chapter 23 Disaster Always One Step Ahead of Me

The three of them packed the supplies into their respective backpacks, leaving the shared items to Blatt. Since it was still early, they went to browse the trade market.

There were indeed many good things inside. In order to survive, many people brought out their most treasured possessions to sell, but unfortunately, the three penniless men couldn't afford anything.

The price of mage items has plummeted. For example, spellbooks that were once extremely valuable are now worthless, even if they are filled with third-level spells, no one is willing to bid on them.

The prices of grain and livestock have increased several times over. Anser originally wanted to use the remaining two hundred gold coins to buy three riding horses, but even at three times the price, he couldn't buy them and had to give up.

However, he found Finn a decent studded leather armor and provided Blatt with a shield and a few hand axes. None of them were magical items, but they were sufficient.

Suddenly the sky changed color, dark clouds covered the area, and it was so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

They hurried back, and just as they closed the door, lightning flashed and thunder roared outside, a fierce wind blew, and torrential rain poured down, pounding against the windows as if they were about to shatter.

Finn summoned Greyhawk back to the inn to rest and to deliver the latest intelligence.

After the subterranean creatures launched a probing attack on Flamefist Fortress, they quickly retreated. While confronting the upper city, they occupied the outer city of Baldur's Gate, without causing extensive damage to the buildings, seemingly intending to settle there.

The good news is that Feilong Bridge is safe and sound.

Inside the room, Finn sat on the floor, cutting the meat strips into small pieces, which were casually tossed aside and snatched up and swallowed by the gray eagle beside him.

This gray eagle was exceptionally handsome, standing nearly a meter tall on the ground, its posture majestic as it looked around.

At this moment, it leaned against Anser, letting the man wipe the water droplets off its feathers without the slightest resistance.

"It seems that not only humans like you, but animals like you too. Warlocks are truly loved by everyone..." Blatt couldn't hide his envy.

He liked Greyhawk very much, but Greyhawk refused to let anyone except Finn get close to it. Anser was an exception, and Greyhawk even took the initiative to approach Anser and got closer and closer.

Anser smiled and tossed the wet towel onto the shelf next to him.

Greyhawk liked him not just because of his charm, but because the magic around him was as docile as a cat, and the primal beast instinctively avoided the chaotic magical environment.

"You've worked hard today, here's one for you." He took out the remaining magic berries and casually tossed one to Gray Eagle.

The gray eagle stretched out its head and accurately caught it, tilted its head back and swallowed it, squinting its eyes, looking quite pleased.

Blatt, standing to the side, pulled out weapon oil and carefully maintained his magic longsword, which was his most valuable possession.

"I heard the guild just issued a no-level hunting quest targeting subterranean creatures, offering a bounty in exchange for their complete heads or left ears. The bounty is offered by three Grand Dukes..."

Anser paused, his face contorted with pain: "What a huge loss, what a huge loss..."

Blatt smiled and said, "A goblin costs 2 gold coins, a large goblin 6 gold coins, a bear goblin 20 gold coins, a gray dwarf 35 gold coins, and professionals are charged separately..."

"This is... way too stingy." Anser was speechless.

Even the weakest goblin minions are still monsters wielding weapons, and they often come in groups. Risking your life for a few gold coins seems like a bad deal.

“This is already quite generous,” Blatt explained. “Any more bounty would be too much for the dukes to afford.”

In Baldur's Gate, even a skilled old craftsman earns only a few silver coins a day.

“That makes sense.” Anser felt that as long as the promise could be fulfilled, many professionals or ordinary people would be willing to take the risk.

He ate a magic berry and lay back on the bed: "I'm going to meditate, I'm not going to eat."

"it is good……"

Blatt and Finn responded, and their movements slowed down.

Anser focused on meditation, spending two hours resonating with his mana storage ring and protective cloak, and his magic power recovered somewhat.

The next step is to store spells inside.

This is more difficult than simply casting a spell. The spell cannot be fully released; it must be controlled to the point of near release and then stored in the ring. The power depends entirely on the caster.

This was no challenge for Anser; he had a strong grasp of magic and quickly completed the casting and storage of spells.

Five first-level spells, three magic missiles, and two colorful orbs.

The blue magic runes on the ring lit up completely, as if shrouded in a layer of magical glow. The spells within the storage ring also require activation and channeling; they are not instantaneous and cannot be enhanced with super magic, but the casting speed is much faster. If unleashed in a short time, even a professional below level 4 might not be able to withstand it.

Having consumed 5 points of magic, Anser felt somewhat empty. He kicked off his shoes and collapsed onto the bed.

The night was filled with torrential rain, making it especially comfortable to sleep.
-
I don’t know how much time has passed.

"boom--"

A deafening roar, louder than thunder, swept through Livington.

Anser felt a pang of fear and suddenly opened his eyes. The room was pitch black, and the sound of rain pattering outside the window could be heard.

"problem occurs!"

Blatter had already gotten up and was standing by the window. He reached out and opened the window a crack, and the sound of wind and rain suddenly intensified, mixed with the noise of people.

The window faces south, so you can't see what's happening to the north.

Click. Anser turned on his pocket watch. It was 3:30 a.m., the time when people are most sleepy.

"Damn it!" He hadn't had a good night's sleep since transmigrating, and he was somewhat emotional. His magical energy surged, and his eyes gleamed faintly.

"Open the window," Finn reminded him.

Blatt pulled the window wide open, and the gray eagle leaped onto the windowsill. After observing for a few moments, it pushed off with its legs and spread its wings, disappearing into the night.

"Pack your things, be ready to leave at any time." Anser felt uneasy, put on her clothes and shoes, and placed her backpack at her feet.

"I'll go find out some information." Blatt was already dressed and ready.

"Be careful, don't go too far," Anser instructed.

"clear."

Finn sat on the edge of the bed. The gray hawk had already flown far away, making telepathic communication impossible. He could only passively wait for it to return.

A few minutes later, his eyelids drooped, his gaze became vacant, and a hint of horror gradually appeared on his wooden face.

"What's wrong?" Anser's heart sank.

“The Flying Dragon Bridge collapsed, the river changed course, flooded the city, and underground creatures…” Finn blurted out each word.

Anser was jolted, his heart filled with turmoil, and his fists clenched involuntarily.

'That was an explosion!' he was absolutely certain.

The appearance of numerous subterranean creatures in Livington, combined with the sound of explosions, gave him a clue:
The gray dwarves launched a surprise attack under cover of night, and Flamefist Fortress collapsed instantly, with no time to issue a warning.

However, Commander Flamefist was prepared and destroyed the Flying Dragon Bridge, causing damage to the riverbank and blocking the southern section of the Chongsa River. The swollen river water was diverted and flowed into Livington.

High tides, torrential rains, and overdeveloped dock areas became accomplices.

"Dang Dang Dang..."

Just as they were pondering this, a piercing bell rang throughout the Adventurers' Guild, piercing the night and carrying far, far away.

With a bang, Blatt burst through the door, panting heavily:
"Hurry, hurry! The Chongsa River has breached its banks, and the monsters have entered the city!"

"go!"

Anser slung his backpack over his shoulder, put on his hood, and strode out the door.

It was pitch black outside, so he raised his hand and cast a light spell on his staff, and the bright light immediately drove away the darkness.

The corridor was in a mess, with many doors wide open, and adventurers running frantically toward the stairs, many of them disheveled.

The three hurried downstairs. The small hall of the Adventurer's House was empty, with only a wall lamp casting a faint light.
