Chapter 32 Fairy Horse

Anser was startled and overjoyed.

'A rare and precious item!'

Rand himself didn't even have a mount, yet he gave him a magical item that could be used to contract mounts from another world. How thoughtful and generous! He's definitely a warm-hearted guy.

'Wait, could his mount be dead?' Anser suddenly thought of this possibility.

Following a paladin is indeed dangerous; perhaps more than one or two of his mounts have already perished. Otherworldly beings might be able to detect traces of the soul contract and may have already "blacklisted" him.

Otherworldly mounts are similar to the Paladin's second-circle spell Find Mount, but finding a mount is mandatory, and the summoned creature is more like a specific magical being, with its strength tied to the spell's circle level.

Anser clutched the holy emblem, unable to wait a moment longer. He got up and walked behind the trees to avoid being seen by the refugees.

Blatt and his companion, unaware of his intentions, remained silently on guard.

Anser held the Holy Symbol to his chest, first praying silently that it wouldn't summon any strange creatures, then infused it with his innate magic to activate it.

The next moment, he felt his spirit being drawn into the Holy Emblem, and hazy planes appeared in his perception.

Dreamlike, despair, chaos, wildness, joy, vitality, warmth, kindness, malice, madness...

Anser has some knowledge of planes, and the two planes closest to him should be the Fairy Wilderness and the Fallen Shadow Underworld, both of which are in the material realm.

'It seems I can't choose randomly; the evil faction might cause trouble, while the good faction is hampered...'

He pondered for a moment and chose the Fairy Wilderness.

With his will, an invisible wave, using the holy symbol as a medium, quietly probed into the other dimension.

He didn't quite understand the process, so he could only wait patiently.

A few minutes later, a vague consciousness gently touched his mind through the holy symbol, carrying a hint of curiosity and probing.

Anser immediately learned its identity: a hybrid horse. It seemed that the Holy Symbol would only make requests to species that met the criteria for "mount".

After a while, several more consciousnesses responded to the summons. There were deer and sheep, but their strength was average and they couldn't fly.

'In the animal kingdom, strength reigns supreme; perhaps those powerful creatures wouldn't even look down on me,' he sighed inwardly.

The spell's effect was about to end, and Anser had to make a choice quickly. Of course, he could also give up and try again tomorrow.

After a moment's thought, he decided not to wait any longer and, based on his intuition, chose the exotic horse that was closer to him, activating the Holy Symbol to establish a magical contract with it.

Threads of magic intertwined, transforming into a complex array of magical runes that imprinted themselves on the minds of both individuals, binding them closely together.

"Come!" Anser called softly.

A few seconds later, a black horse appeared out of thin air without warning and ran around the woods twice as if it were frolicking.

Then she took small steps to stand in front of Anser, lowered her head, and met his gaze with her large, dark blue eyes.

Hello, my name is Anser.

This is telepathy, which transcends language and race; communication is possible with a thought, and the maximum communication distance is about two kilometers.

He gently stroked the horse's face; it felt firm and cool to the touch, not hair, but extremely fine scales.

'You have dragon blood?' He was somewhat surprised.

The black horse shook its head, a simple, honest thought emanating from it: 'Born that way.'

'May I have your name?'

The black horse tilted its head and thought for a long time: 'Nornos?'

'Haha, then I'll call you Nornos from now on.' Anser felt that its intelligence was a bit lacking, but for a horse, that wasn't the most important thing.

He circled Nornos and found it to be excessively tall, nearly two meters tall at the shoulder, with a head two and a half to six meters tall, long pointed ears, and its entire body covered with black scales that were barely visible to the naked eye, shimmering with a faint blue hue in the sunlight.

It has a row of thick, sword-like neck armor that unfolds into a fan shape to protect its body.

There was a not-so-sharp protrusion on his forehead, like a ram, only a few centimeters long, and as hard as iron.

Its tail is long and thin, with a flat, cone-shaped tip. It is dark black and looks very striking.

At this moment, the dice spun gently, revealing Nornos's attributes.

[Name: Nornos]

Race: Fairy (Large)
Level: 0
"Experience": 0
"Life": 35
"Faction": Chaotic Neutral
【Strength: 18】

[Agility: 14]

[Physique: 16]

【Intelligence: 6】

【Perception: 11】

【Charm: 13】

"Life Link": When the owner or mount recovers health, the other party will also recover the same amount of health. The Life Link will break if it exceeds two meters.

[Fairy Bloodline]: Nornos cannot fall asleep due to magical effects, giving him an advantage against charm or mind spells.

「心灵猛击」:诺尔诺斯攻击时附带2+1d8(1-8)的心灵伤害。

"Fairy Step": A spell-like ability that allows Nornos to teleport his master to any location within 120 feet (≤36 meters) once a day.

Unlike before, Nornos's character card was quite detailed. 'Perhaps it's related to the soul contract,' Anser speculated.

He touched Nornos's horn and exclaimed in surprise, "You're a fairy?"

He knew about the fairy dragon, but this was the first time he had ever seen a fairy horse. It looked strange, but it was indeed handsome and majestic.

Fairy horses are fairies, fairy dragons are dragons; the creatures of this world are just that amazing.

Nornos has pretty good attributes; aside from his pitiful intelligence and average perception, his other attributes are not low.

Its traits and skills are also quite practical; Mind Blast is even more powerful than Anser's spell burst, but its drawback is that it can only be used in melee combat.

The Fairy Step is a life-saving skill; even if you accidentally fall into an abyss, you have a chance to teleport out.

Overall, Nornos's combat strength is comparable to that of a novice professional.

Although he didn't manage to contract the flying mount he'd always dreamed of, Anser was still very satisfied, circling Nornos and touching and looking at it.

Nornos thought Anser was playing a game with it and excitedly stomped its feet back and forth.

Blatt and Finn, standing to the side, were completely dumbfounded.

Blatt stepped forward two paces: "This is..."

“Its name is Nornos, from the Fairy Wilderness, my mount, hehe…” Anser’s smile never stopped.

When Nornos saw the two approaching, he snorted and pawed the ground twice with his hoof, showing some resistance.

Anser quickly reassured them: 'They're my teammates, this is Blatt, this is Finn.'

The two looked on with envy. Who could understand the value of owning a mount in the wilderness, especially a fairy horse?

Blatt exclaimed in amazement, "It's so tall, so beautiful!"

“Sigh!” Finn said succinctly.

Nornos understood the Common Language, and tilted his head slightly, his gaze softening considerably as he looked at the two.

"Let's go run two laps."

Anser waved to Blatt and the other man, then climbed onto Nornos, carefully grabbing his neck armor. With a thought, Nornos started walking quickly.

Anser had never ridden a horse before and had no saddle. He was sitting with his legs tightly pressed together, half-lying on the horse's back, trembling with fear, and his posture was not graceful.

Fortunately, the two were of one mind; his sense of balance and coordination were quite good, and he gradually began to experience the joy of riding a horse.

Nornos was very tall, and sitting on it offered a wide view. His body rose and fell with the horse's back, and the gentle breeze gave him a feeling of dancing freely and flying low in the air.

He rode for more than half an hour before returning to the woods.

Blatt moved closer, and this time Nornos didn't retaliate, but he still wouldn't allow Blatt to touch him.

"Ah, why doesn't it like me either?" He felt both envious and distressed.

Anser fastened the backpacks for the group and placed them on Nornos's back, comforting them, "You're just not familiar with them yet..."

"Ok."

The group set off again, but this time they were traveling light, making it much easier.

Nornos was strong and healthy, and even carrying Anser and more than 100 kilograms of luggage, he still walked lightly and steadily.
