Super Magician: The Magic Network Collapsed Again at the Start
Chapter 78 Deinonychus
Chapter 78 Deinonychus
Abel is also called Abel. Due to language and pronunciation issues, both pronunciations represent the world that was born together with Toril.
Anser didn't know Abel, or rather, not many people knew Abel.
It is said that Abel originated from the ancient Dawn War, which is too ancient to be traced. The original and powerful beings who appeared since the beginning of the universe, known as the "Primordial Ones" or "Wild Gods", fought an unprecedented war of gods against the gods who created the material plane.
Ultimately, the gods won the War of Dawn. The supreme god Io separated the once unified world into Abel and Toril. Toril was given to the gods and their followers, while Abel was placed under the rule of the remaining Primal Beings.
According to the dragonborn from Abel, the Primal Ones were betrayed by the dragons, either dying, falling into slumber, or being sealed away, and the dragons ruled the entire world.
In other words, Abel was previously dominated by dragon forces, in addition to the resurrected forces of the Primals and mortals. But after so many years, no one knows what the current situation is.
But the only thing Anser was certain of was that Abel didn't have the magic network!
The gods of Toril need a magical network to build a faith network, but the Primals and dragons are different; they do not need faith, and their power comes from the primal magic of the world itself.
“Abel?” Salian looked blank. He seemed to have heard the word before, but he couldn’t quite place it.
“The homeland of the dragonborn,” Anser explained.
"what?"
Everyone looked at the only dragon-born crew member.
The green dragonkin stared wide-eyed, completely bewildered by what had happened.
The Dragonborn have thrived in Toril for centuries, establishing the Dragonborn kingdom of "Tymanser." Apart from the elite among the Dragonborn, how would ordinary Dragonborn know about that past?
Even if they knew, these dragon descendants certainly wouldn't want to go home.
In Abel, the Dragonborn are slaves of the dragons. They struggled and rebelled for countless years before establishing their own Dragonborn kingdom, but they still live in the dragons' shadow, and their living conditions are unimaginable.
"What do we do now?" Salian looked at Anser, hoping that the learned spellcaster could offer some guidance.
“I don’t know,” Anser said, shrugging. “But staying put is probably not a good idea.”
The "lake" where the "Quesser" is located is only about one or two kilometers in diameter, and its depth is unknown. To the west, there used to be the vast Sword Sea, but now it is surrounded by land.
The northwest is a savanna, and the southwest is a dense forest. Many areas are connected to the cloak forest on land, making them indistinguishable from each other.
Salian's expression was grim. He picked up his binoculars and carefully observed the surrounding environment. He noticed a reflection at the junction of the forest on the north and south sides and the original coastline, indicating that half of the trees were submerged in water.
Compared to the trees in other places that are tens or even hundreds of meters tall, the trees here are half the height. He deduced that the water along the shore should be deep enough for boats to navigate, but it is somewhat narrow.
“It feels like it’s pieced together. Do you think we should go through it, or dock and run towards land?” Salian looked at Anser again.
Before Anser could speak, ripples spread across the water. He quickly scanned the area and saw the trees in the woods north of the small fishing village shaking violently. Then, five or six dinosaurs, each eight or nine meters long, emerged and charged toward the village.
"This is... an Allosaurus!" Anser exclaimed in surprise.
He didn't know many dinosaurs, but Allosaurus was the most classic dinosaur image and the most widely distributed predator. Although they weren't as massive as Tyrannosaurus Rex, Allosaurus had a more proportionate body, well-developed forelimbs, and was extremely agile.
The villagers fled in terror, but they had no chance of escaping. They were caught by Allosaurus before they got very far. The Allosaurus could swallow a person whole in just a few bites with their huge mouths. Some villagers were even targeted by two Allosaurus at the same time. As soon as they were picked up, they were torn in half in mid-air.
Salian's face was grim, but he knew they were powerless to rescue anyone: "We can't go north or onto land."
The fact that these dinosaurs could run from the grasslands to the land suggests that there was a connection between the two areas, or that the water was shallow and that open areas were not conducive to escape or hiding.
“Then head south, quick—” Anser urged.
The Quese is too conspicuous staying in this small lake; it would be troublesome if it were spotted.
Forests provide convenient hiding places and have tall trees. Most importantly, the giant dinosaurs in forests are mainly herbivorous. Large carnivorous predators like Tyrannosaurus Rex, due to their limited mobility, generally stayed in plains or at the edge of forests.
Of course, this is not absolute. Abel's dinosaurs were created by the Primal Utau, and their habits are quite different from those of dinosaurs on Earth.
"Weigh anchor, first mate at the helm, everyone else load the cannons and prepare for battle."
"Yes……"
The QUESTER turned around and slowly sailed south along the coastline. At that moment, a gray line in the sky quietly passed directly above them.
Anser's magic suddenly surged, like a group of naughty children rolling and playing, becoming very disobedient. He immediately sat on the ground, focused his mind and meditated, and it took him a while to regain control of his magic.
However, the magic seems to be more active, and I can't control it as well as before.
He opened his eyes and saw Salian's surprised and suspicious gaze.
"Is the magic network malfunctioning again?" Just now, he felt as if his spell slots had been stripped away, and he could no longer sense them at all.
Anser shook his head slightly: "There is no magic network here at all!"
"Ah..." The others looked incredulous.
In the minds of most professionals, the Magic Network is as ubiquitous as air, and it is difficult to understand why it doesn't exist.
"Can you still cast spells?" Salian asked hurriedly.
“Okay.” Anser glanced at Nornos and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the horseshoes of the West had not failed.
"That's good." Salian's expression softened slightly.
He is a hunter and does not rely on that spellcasting ability. As long as Anser, the full spellcaster, can still cast spells, it will not have much of an impact.
The Quesser gently broke through the calm water and quietly approached the edge of the forest. There was indeed a waterway ahead, nestled among towering, sturdy ancient trees.
Fortunately, the elf boat was long and narrow, allowing it to easily slip into the woods with agility.
The Allosaurus on the riverbank roared twice in this direction, but did not go into the water to chase after it. Perhaps they were also wary of this enormous creature floating on the water.
Upon entering the forest, the light immediately dimmed considerably. Looking up, the sunlight was blocked by the tall trees, and even the deck was devoid of light spots.
"What kind of tree is this? It's so thick, it would be great for building ships." Salian held a bow in his left hand, constantly examining these towering trees.
“I don’t recognize it. Maybe it’s some kind of cedar?” Anser had no knowledge of cedar, only that cedar trees were relatively tall.
"It's shocking."
Brat leaned on his longsword, looking up as if he had entered a land of giants, surrounded by countless ancient trees, some tens of meters in diameter and hundreds of meters tall.
Anser's gaze was focused on the animals he had never seen before, but these animals were generally very wary and hid as soon as they saw the elf ship from afar.
“If this is the area swap you’re talking about, then there shouldn’t be any dinosaurs in the water,” Salian speculated.
"It's hard to say," Anser replied.
Based on current information, it appears to be a small continent of Abel that appeared out of nowhere in the Sword Sea. However, it is difficult to say exactly how large it is or what the creatures in it look like.
"Crash..."
A strange wading sound came from behind a tree. Anser immediately followed the sound and searched for it, but only caught a glimpse of a tail covered in feathers disappearing behind a tree.
"It looks like a big bird?" Salian wasn't quite sure.
As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of water around them grew louder and more intense, and a group of long-tailed dinosaurs resembling large birds appeared far to the right of the sailboat.
They are about three meters long, with a light body and forelimbs that look like a pair of wings, but when they extend and retract, they reveal a pair of scythe-like claws.
“Everyone be careful—” Salian said warily.
He had never seen this creature before, but predators and herbivores could be distinguished by their appearance.
When Anser saw these dinosaurs, he inexplicably thought of the Velociraptors in the movie, but the Velociraptors didn't have feathers.
The dice spun rapidly, quickly revealing their messages:
