In the name of supernatural powers

Chapter 54 Special Response Team

Chapter 54 Special Response Team
The Special Operations Response Detachment is located in the south of Fangcheng City.

Lu Zhao showed his ID to the gate guard for inspection. The guard glanced at the ID and then looked at him with a scrutinizing gaze.

He seemed hesitant to speak, but there was a hint of hostility in his expression.

"Let go."

Lu Zhao entered the special operations response unit's base, and to his left was a large, open parade ground.

Special operations team members, dressed in camouflage training uniforms, are running, chanting "one, two, one, two, three, four" in unison.

To the right is an administrative building with white tiles covering its exterior walls. It is five stories high and looks much more imposing than the border post.

Lu Zhao told Liao Lang and the others to wait outside, and walked into the building alone. After showing his identification, he was led by the receptionist to the office of the captain of the Special Operations Response Team.

Faint sounds of conversation could be heard coming from inside the room.

dong dong dong.

There was a knock on the door, and the sounds inside immediately ceased.

"Captain Wang, Lieutenant Lu from the border station has arrived."

"Please come in."

The door opened, and the receptionist stepped aside to let Lu Zhao enter. A strong smell of smoke wafted into his nostrils.

There were two people in the office: a colonel sitting behind a desk and Xu Zhenhua, the company commander of the special operations detachment, with whom he had a conflict some time ago.

The former was a second-tier superhuman, and Lu Zhao felt a clear sense of crisis.

Mental superhumans are much more sensitive to danger than other types of superhumans.

He came to Xu Zhenhua's right, stood at attention and saluted, saying, "Lieutenant Lu Zhao, Training Staff Officer of Ant Ridge Border Station, is here to report for duty."

A slightly hostile gaze fell upon me from the side.

"Comrade Lu Zhao, I am Wang Tong, the detachment leader."

The colonel rose to return the greeting, took a document wrapped in kraft paper from the table, and gestured for Lu Zhao to sit on the sofa next to him.

"Time is of the essence, let's synchronize the task information first."

"Yes."

Lu Zhao sat on the sofa and quickly flipped through the intelligence. Xu Zhenhua and Wang Tong sat opposite him.

The latter sized up Lu Zhao; he had vaguely heard rumors about Lu Zhao long ago. His outstanding performance in a drug bust two years ago had caught Wang Tong's attention.

At that time, Wang Tong was already preparing to snatch the person; such a talent should rightfully come to their special operations team.

Then I was warned by my immediate supervisor, who was in charge of the city's security department.

He didn't say the specific reason, nor did he ask further.

Upon first meeting him, he is indeed a handsome man, looking like a celebrity.

Lu Zhao finished reading the intelligence in two minutes.

The city police have roughly located the fugitive's position in the Kabuki district of the western outlying district of the city.

Kabuki is named after the traditional Japanese song and dance, and it is prevalent in Nankaido. It is usually located in streets run by Japanese people and has various Japanese-style shops, mainly engaged in the service industry.

To put it bluntly, it's a brothel; the Japanese have basically monopolized the sex industry in the entire Federation.

Where there is a foreign district, there will definitely be a Kabuki district; and where there is no foreign district, there will definitely be a Kabuki district.

The federal government prohibits prostitution, but after the cataclysm, control in this area has been virtually nonexistent.

But what's strange is why they didn't just block the outer regions directly?
Now that the target is injured and unable to move long distances, finding him is only a matter of time.

Lu Zhao put down the report, and Wang Tong cut straight to the point, saying, "The fugitive is a first-tier fire-attribute superhuman. His supernatural power is a flame blade, and the fire wall it creates when wielded can block bullets."

"Our mission is simple: find the fugitive in Kabukicho."

Lu Zhao asked, "Why not just seal off the outer district? Wouldn't it be better to send in a large number of police officers for a thorough search?" Wang Tong explained, "The situation in the outer district is complicated, and the higher-ups want to minimize the impact as much as possible."

Xu Zhenhua bluntly said, "What impact could it have? Can they turn the world upside down?"

Wang Tong glanced at his subordinate and said with exasperation, "Sooner or later you'll get into trouble because of that mouth of yours."

Lu Zhao thought so too.

He was just a bit harsh, but he'd never been so outspoken before.
-
At noon, Lin Zhiyan led his men to the Special Operations Response Team.

Colonel Wang Tong, who was two ranks higher than Lü Jinshan, adopted the same posture and greeted him at the gate early in the morning.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Lin Zhiyan led his men to a conference room to begin a pre-battle meeting.

Lin Zhiyan issued the operational objectives, Wang Tong explained the prepared plan, and Xu Zhenhua was responsible for its execution.

Lu Zhao remained silent throughout, simply taking notes quietly.

The federal government has plenty of talented people; there's nothing that can't be done without him. At most, things would be worse without him, and better with him.

The sound in my ears disappeared.

Lin Zhiyan stood up, and everyone present followed suit.

"Then let the mission begin."

Half an hour later, a total of twenty-two people arrived, including the team brought by Lu Zhao.

Each person wore plain clothes and carried a pistol. The rifle was kept in the car to prevent being exposed as soon as they entered the outer district.

Because of the previous conflict, the atmosphere was somewhat oppressive, and the gazes between them carried more or less hostility, but everyone was very restrained.

Most federal public officials are conscientious and dedicated; if everyone were like Lu Jinshan, society would have been in chaos long ago.

After Xu Zhenhua finished conveying the mission, he looked at Lu Zhao and asked, "Do you have anything to add?"

Lu Zhao stepped forward and said, "Although this mission is in the Outer District, I hope everyone will be more restrained during the mission and try to minimize the casualties of innocent civilians. Even though it is the Outer District, it is still governed by federal law."

These words caused a stir among the crowd.

This shows that acts of disregarding civilian casualties are very common in outer territories.

Xu Zhenhua did not object; as the team leader, he also did not want such a thing to happen.

Too many people died, and even if the dead were foreigners, they would still be criticized.

Moreover, there are also Chinese activities in the outlying areas, and they are all registered citizens.

At 10 a.m., the disguised convoy set off.

Lu Zhao was naturally pulled into the car by Lin Zhiyan again, who said that he had an important task to be given to him.

After getting on the bus, Lin Zhiyan did indeed have an important task.

"You'll get off with me in a bit, and we'll head straight into the outer district."

Lu Zhao frowned and said, "This is too dangerous."

Lin Zhiyan's so-called "going deep" was definitely not about sitting in a car and stalking along the road; she wanted to go deep into the intricate residential area, which was as complex as a walled city.

Even superhumans are still mortal beings; they can die if they are suddenly attacked.

“My supernatural power can unleash a wide-range mental shock, instantly stunning ordinary people within fifty meters.” Lin Zhiyan twirled his index finger. “And Senior Lu, you can change the trajectory of the bullet. The two of us are enough to handle most situations.”

Lu Zhao pondered for a moment and asked, "Can't your deterrent system distinguish between friend and foe?"

Lin Zhiyan looked surprised.

That's incredibly perceptive. She only revealed a little about her abilities, and Lu Zhao was able to guess the general idea.

She nodded in agreement: "So only you can follow me. As far as the development of our lives is concerned, only you, senior, can withstand my mental pressure."
