Chapter 121 Salute to You
"Brother, let's run away."

Given the chance, Cecilia wanted to help Luze regain his freedom.

"Escape?"

Lu Ze couldn't help but smile wryly.

How could they possibly escape?
The listener's keen ears allowed him to hear clearly—in the underground passage, beyond their sight, the sounds of Leonard and Dunn's breathing and heartbeats were crystal clear. The supposed arrangement of leaving the siblings alone was actually a way to reassure the sister, a covert surveillance. Given Dunn's composure, there was no way he would be given a chance to escape.

"Can you take this cage apart?"

Lu Ze asked.

Seeing Cecilia frowning and unable to answer, he smiled and said, "Alright, Cecilia, don't think about it anymore. We're already very fortunate to have survived that crazy woman."

The Night Watchers of Enmat Harbor, Captain Edward, and the Southern Continent people who were sold and sacrificed—none of them escaped from Lady M's clutches. Only the brother and sister survived, and even though life was difficult afterward, it didn't seem so unbearable in comparison.

Just then, the meaningful smile on Ms. M's face before she died suddenly flashed into his mind.

Lu Ze paused for a moment, then suppressed his unease and said to Cecilia with a smile, "Backlund is a big city; the things you can do and eat there are much better than in Tingen. Once we've settled in, I'll take you to the city for a few days of fun."

Even though he had absolutely no idea about his future, he could only say the good things to reassure his sister. Of course, Luze had never been to Backlund either, so he could only describe the wonderful prospects of the big city to Cecilia based on his imagination.

"My sister is so beautiful, she'll cause a sensation if she goes there. Countless nobles will fall for her, princes and dukes will all fawn over her."

"I don't want to marry a nobleman, I want to stay by your side."

Luze was irresponsibly spouting nonsense, while Cecilia sat quietly beside him, her large, bright blue eyes sparkling.

A few minutes later, Dunn led Leonard out from behind the aisle and spoke to Luzer.

"Okay."

Lu Ze answered.

By this time, Cecilia had calmed down. Seeing them open the cage and pull Luze out, she didn't stop them but followed behind. The group left the Chanis Gate, walked along the corridor to the spiral staircase, and climbed up to the first floor of the Blackthorn Security Company.

It will probably be difficult to come back in the future.

Lu Ze's gaze swept over every corner of the company. He wasn't particularly nostalgic, just a little sentimental.

In the lounge, he met the Night Watchers from Backlund.

“These are my colleagues from the Backlund parish: Ms. Lorota, El Hassen, and Borgia.”

Dunn introduced them to Lolota, a dark-haired woman in her thirties dressed somewhat in a masculine style; Al Hassen, a very elegant middle-aged gentleman; and Borgia, who had a scar on his face and a serious demeanor.

"Because the parish attaches great importance to this escort, they have sent quite a few people."

Al Hassen, who was acting as the team leader, explained, then looked Luze up and down. "This is Luze Rondohr?"

“Cecilia Rondor?”

"Yes."

The younger sister nodded as well.

“You two are truly impressive in appearance,” Al Hassen said sincerely, looking at their faces, then turned to Dunn, “Then, Dunn, we will take them with us.”

"Please take care of them."

Dunn said solemnly.

The group continued walking out, leaving the lounge, crossing the crossroads, and arriving in the lobby. Upon seeing them, the colleagues from Blackthorn Security Company all stood up.

"Take good care of yourself in Backlund."

“Be careful on the road. Luze, Frye, and Luo Yao went to patrol the cemetery. They asked me to pass on their goodbyes.”

Amidst the flurry of farewells, Klein made a special mention of the two who were not present. "Goodbye, everyone. It was a pleasure spending time with you all."

Lu Ze laughed, raised his shackled arm, and waved goodbye to them.

Their colleagues followed, surrounding the brother and sister and Backlund's Night Watchers as they exited through the gate. Outside, on the road, two unmarked black carriages were parked, with several Night Watchers in black overcoats silently watching them.

Lady Lolota, along with Cecilia and another female night watchwoman, boarded a carriage and left first.

"Brother, see you in Backlund."

His sister said this to him before she got into the carriage.

Lu Ze waved to her, watching the carriage gradually disappear into the distance. The sunlight outside shone on his body, bringing him a long-lost warmth after spending several days underground.

"Luze, please give my regards to old Neil."

Dunn looked at him and said.

"I understand, Captain."

Lu Ze said, "Also, I've always wanted to thank you. My siblings and I have received so much care from you since that night. I'm honored to be your teammate."

Upon hearing this, Dunn couldn't help but smile, his eyes filled with warmth. "Lu Ze, you've helped me a lot too. You've done many great things, saving lives in several cities. I'm honored to be your captain."

The two smiled at each other.

"Alright, that's all for now. You can come find me when you get to Backlund."

Lu Ze waved goodbye to the group, walked down the steps, and stepped in front of the carriage.

Beside him, Leonard was handing over items. Ms. M's box had already been sent out, and now he was passing his belongings to the Night Watchers of Backlund, checking them one by one.

“Three extraordinary items: a bone flute, a whistle, and a dagger, along with these materials.”

For each item he mentioned, he would place it into the grid of the box provided by the other party.

As Lu Ze looked around, he suddenly realized something was wrong.

It seems one is missing.
"What about that holy book?"

He asked Leonard.

"Holy Scripture?"

Leonard looked up at him in confusion. "What holy book?"

"Is that the holy book made of human skin, the one with stories and poems written in ancient Hermetic script?"

"I didn't see it. It's not on you, and it's not in your house either. Besides, you didn't mention it, did you?"

Leonard looked utterly bewildered.

I didn't mention it. Oh right, how could I forget that holy book?
Lu Ze's mouth suddenly went dry. Suddenly, he couldn't recall when he last saw the holy book, nor could he remember where he had put the holy book he had been reading.

Meanwhile, the night watchmen had finished chatting with Dunn and were preparing to leave.

"Oh, right, Dunn, there's one more thing."

Al Hassen took a few steps, then suddenly, as if remembering something, turned and walked toward Dunn.

"what's up?"

Dunn looked at Lu Ze in front of him with a somewhat dim expression. Hearing Lu Ze's voice, he asked without much concern.

"That's right. Ms. M sends her regards."

"Click."

A slight scraping sound came from Al Hassen's sleeve. A mechanical mechanism installed in his suit sleeve instantly popped a miniature revolver into his hand, which he gripped tightly.

"Snapped!"

A crisp gunshot rang out as Al Hassan fired a shot into Dunn's heart.
