Mystery: The Last Shepherd

Chapter 135 Sherlock the Detective?

Chapter 135 Sherlock the Detective?
"Mr. Lu Ze, you're awake?"

The nurse who was attentively watching Lu Ze noticed the change in his expression and realized that he had returned to normal. She said happily, "Dr. Chris said that you had no hope of being cured, but I see that you are doing quite well, don't you?"

I hope you recover quickly, but if you still have a minor lingering ailment, I'm willing to give up my job and take care of you full-time.
The young nurse, full of hope, removed the belt from Lu Ze's body.

With her help, Lu Ze removed his mask and sat up easily. Since he had already summoned the tide, he might as well take this opportunity to stay awake a little longer.

"Mr. Lu Ze, your sister is taking the doctor's advice. Is there anything you'd like me to do? Should I get you a glass of water, or prepare something to eat?"

The nurse asked eagerly.

"no need."

Lu Ze smiled politely, "Could you get me a few recent newspapers? I'd like to read the news."

His smile startled the nurse across from him, who then blushed and nodded, "Okay, please wait here for a moment!"

At the end of the asylum corridor stands a newspaper corner, originally intended to keep the occasionally lucid patients informed about the latest news. But now, its main purpose is for the patients to tear up and play with.

Lu Ze watched as the nurse took a few relatively well-preserved newspapers from among them, walked back, and handed them to him. He thanked her and then ignored her, lowering his head to read the newspaper, letting her scrutinize his profile.

The newspaper itself wasn't very interesting; he was just killing time while waiting for Cecilia to finish her conversation with the doctor and come out.

Well, national affairs, royal family gossip, and theater stars' scandals.
He casually glanced at one of the papers, then picked up another newspaper called the Backlund Post.

"Eleventh murder case! West Velas is at a loss!"

The newspaper headline read it prominently.

The headline in this newspaper was somewhat interesting, detailing the horrific murders that had recently occurred in Backlund. The serial killer, specifically targeting women in long skirts, had committed over a dozen crimes but remained at large.

Murder, cannibalism—clearly a demon worship ritual.

Lu Ze quickly made a judgment, and at the same time, a thought struck him.

This seems like a good grazing target.
The "Demon" pathway possesses many powerful abilities and is also a cold-blooded, ruthless serial killer; there's no qualms about herding such a person. The only thing to be careful about is that official Beyonders are definitely also investigating, and you might encounter them.

Thinking about it another way, this might actually be an opportunity to let the demon and the official Extraordinary beings wear each other down, and then I can take the opportunity to reap the benefits. However, Backlund is the capital, will the Extraordinary beings here be so easy to deal with?

A variety of thoughts swirled in his mind, and he decided to temporarily shelve the plan, actively observe the situation, and wait for the right opportunity.

After finishing the headline, Lu Ze continued scrolling through the rest of the news. The subsequent articles became less interesting, and the advertisements increased, ranging from shops promoting their products to companies seeking IPOs and rights issues, and even marriage proposals and child-rearing ads. He gradually became impatient and started scrolling faster and faster.

Why isn't Cecilia out yet?
With that thought in mind, he flipped to pages seven or eight of the newspaper.

A somewhat familiar name suddenly caught my eye.

"Sherlock Moriarty, a private detective skilled in all kinds of matters, charges reasonable fees, strictly adheres to confidentiality principles, and resides at 15 Minsk Street, Joewood District."

Lu Ze was stunned.

Sherlock Moriarty?
Private investigator?

As if he couldn't believe it, he carefully read the advertisement, over and over again, to confirm that the name and profession were exactly as he thought.

How is this going?

The transmigrator predecessor, Emperor Roselle, also left behind many literary works in this world, having copied all the classic novels from Luzer's world. However, he conspicuously avoided copying detective novels, perhaps because he hadn't explored them in his previous life. And speaking of the most famous detective novels, none other than the Sherlock Holmes series stands out, so famous that the name itself has almost become synonymous with detective.

The protagonist and the main antagonist of this story are named Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty, respectively—a combination of the detective's first and last name in the advertisement.

Could there be such a coincidence between a mixed name and the profession of detective?

Could it be that this is a time traveler making a reference to a character from Sherlock Holmes?

Thinking of this, Lu Ze felt both excited and wary.

He was excited because he might encounter fellow time travelers, but wary because he felt he couldn't quite control the situation.

He was in a state of semi-madness, and his sister was only at Sequence 9. At this moment, someone who seemed to be a transmigrator also appeared. The timing was too coincidental.

Perhaps it's a trap set for me?
However, there's also a strong possibility that they are a fellow time traveler. Meeting them might reveal the secret of my time travel, and perhaps even allow me to return to my origins.
After a moment's thought, Lu Ze resisted the very tempting idea.

Even if he really wanted to go find someone, he should wait until he felt better before making a decision. Otherwise, if it turned out to be a trap, he would be a fool walking right into it. Anyway, the other party had already left an address, so when they came looking for him, he wouldn't be able to escape.

"Mr. Lu Ze?"

The nurse noticed the change in his expression and asked with concern.

"Oh, I'm fine. May I take a few newspapers with me?"

Lu Ze snapped out of his daze and asked with a smile.

"Of course, these newspapers will only be torn to shreds by the patients if left here."

The other party readily agreed.

"Thank you so much."

He stood up, folded the newspaper, and tucked it into the gap between the belts of his straitjacket. "I wanted to go see my sister, but I don't know what the doctor said to her; it's been a little long."

He saw the nurse across from him smiling and saying something, but Lu Ze couldn't hear anything. A sharp buzzing sound came and drowned out all the sounds around him.

Someone was watching him from behind.

"brush!"

Lu Ze instinctively turned around and saw Ms. M's figure.

She still had that hateful look, smiling gently and damnably. The mad patient passed through her body; she seemed like just a phantom frozen in Luzer's eyes.

What do you want to do now?
Lu Ze stared at her coldly. There were too many people in the corridor; it wasn't convenient for him to kill her immediately.

Just then, Lu Ze saw Ms. M smiling gently and slowly raising her hand.

She pointed towards the end of the corridor.

"Ahhhh!"

A terrified scream suddenly came from that direction.
