Mystery: The Last Shepherd

Chapter 208 Strange Ramblings

Chapter 208 Strange Ramblings

"We're being followed."

"Luze said to Audrey."

He saw the blonde girl opposite him pause for a moment, then look at him with anticipation. "Are you sure?"

"That's right, and the other party is an extraordinary one."

The shepherd spirit within Lu Ze was issuing a warning, telling him that a lamb was approaching, "The fish must have taken the bait."

Looking out the carriage window, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. But his potion-wielding intuition quickly pinpointed their target. It was an inconspicuous black carriage, the kind that would easily be overlooked, and it was following them at a leisurely pace.

Is it that guy?

The first person Lu Ze thought of was Sequence 6, who was hiding in the corner of the party. After all, as the organizer, he was the most suspicious.

"What are you going to do about it?"

"Lu Ze asked Audrey."

"deal with?"

Audrey didn't understand what he meant.

"correct."

Lu Ze said frankly, "Do you need me to capture him for you and interrogate him properly? I have some methods; he shouldn't be able to hold out for long before he confesses everything."

"No need."

Audrey quickly stopped her, "Mr. Anderson, your method is too extreme! I plan to pretend to be interested in the 'audience' approach, let them come to me on their own, and then join in naturally. This way, I can achieve my goal more naturally."

"That's it, okay."

Lu Ze said indifferently. Since his employer disagreed, he had no choice but to give up. Anyway, as long as he could contact the Psychological Alchemy Society, that was fine.

He hoped those people would be more friendly; after all, he didn't have a good impression of this route. Recalling the red-haired, golden-eyed woman, his brow furrowed.

"Brother, sneak into my shadow and rest for a while."

His younger sister seemed to sense that something was wrong with him, and gently pressed the back of his hand, speaking softly.

"Hmm, we're almost at the Earl's mansion, I should hide myself now."

Lu Ze nodded, turned into a shadow, and disappeared into the carriage.

The carriage followed them at a distance, and only left quietly after confirming that their address was Earl Hall's mansion.

She's incredibly bold to let the other party discover her background so readily. Perhaps it's because her family is powerful enough that she doesn't need to worry about being targeted and persecuted—they're too busy trying to curry favor with her.

Lu Ze thought to himself.

"Very good, all my efforts over this period of time have not been in vain."

Audrey smiled and then said to them, "I'm attending an important banquet tomorrow, and I hope you can serve as my bodyguards."

Finally, we have some more ordinary guard duties.
"can."

Lu Zedao.

"Brother, should we catch up with that guy and let him graze?"

As he left Earl Hall's mansion, Luze heard his sister's advice.

"No need for now."

He shook his head.

Now that the Psychological Alchemy Society has its eye on Audrey Hall, finding them will be much easier; we can deal with it when the time comes.

They hired a carriage and left Queens. The driver shook his head repeatedly upon hearing their destination was the East End, but eventually offered to reduce the fare, agreeing to stop only outside the East End and not go inside.

The Queens driver explained that it wasn't just because the East Side was dangerous, but more importantly, he needed to clean his wheels after each trip there. Otherwise, customers wouldn't want to get in his dirty car, and the police would cause him trouble.

I never imagined that even rickshaw drivers could be prejudiced against people from certain regions.
Lu Ze muttered to himself as he and his sister boarded the carriage.

"By the way, Cecilia, what do you think of Miss Audrey?"

Watching the Intis plane trees speeding past outside, he suddenly remembered something. "Miss Audrey? What, brother, are you planning to pursue her?"

The black-haired girl looked up and stared at him with her blue eyes, asking a question.

"what's on your mind."

Lu Ze was taken aback, then said helplessly, "I was asking for your opinion on her dresses. In the few days we've spent with her, I haven't seen her wear the same dress twice. So, do you have any favorite styles or colors of her dresses? I'll go buy one for you."

"No, right?"

The blue-eyed girl thought for a moment and said, "Besides, I think we probably can't buy Miss Audrey's dress. She must have hired a designer to come to her home and make it to her measurements."

Even so, you should still buy some new clothes.

Lu Ze advised.

He felt his sister was just as beautiful as Audrey. The only problem was that, for her own convenience, she had been wearing ordinary slum clothes lately, which was a complete waste of her pretty face.

"what!"

"Quickly open!"

"Catch him!"

The two were chatting when they suddenly heard shouts coming from outside.

Through the car window, he saw several policemen running out of the smoke-filled police station in a disheveled state, cursing angrily. A short man ran quickly ahead, occasionally turning back to smirk at the policemen with a mocking grin.

His movements were exceptionally agile, moving freely through the crowd, making him appear extraordinary.

People on the street witnessed the scene, but no one helped the police; instead, they watched the spectacle with amusement. This alone demonstrates just how bad the police's reputation is in Backlund.

Hmm, this street, this police station, it seems like it's a task assigned by the Queen.

Lu Ze recalled it briefly.

Not only at this police station, but he had also witnessed many unexpected incidents on the streets in the past few days, which had basically caused some trouble for the order in Backlund and kept some people busy dealing with them.

Are those locations related to MI9's deployment?
Lu Ze thought to himself, "Judging from this, the Queen may be about to take action soon."

Back at my rented place, I pushed open the door and saw my landlady, Emily, reading at the table.

"Why are you back at noon today?"

Lu Ze was somewhat surprised.

As is customary, although the school is closed at noon, she would choose to rest at school during the lunch break because of the inconvenience of commuting.

"There's something going on at school today, so we'll only have half a day of classes."

Emily looked very upset. "The school's water system suddenly broke down, the pipes burst, and no one can get into the school building."

"Has anyone been in trouble?"

“I heard from my classmates that one of the teachers slipped and broke his leg,” Emily recalled. “Everyone was quite happy because that teacher was usually fierce and liked to criticize people. But for some reason, he was very intimidating, and no one dared to talk back to him.”

It seems there's no doubt it's someone from MI9.

Lu Ze nodded.

"Well, there's nothing we can do about it then. We'll just have to spend the afternoon at home."

He smiled and comforted the other person, then his expression suddenly changed slightly.

Behind Emily, a figure she hadn't seen in a long time appeared. —Ms. M, with red hair and golden eyes, calmly looked at him, then reached out and covered her ears.

Why did you come out again?

Lu Ze wanted to curse, but he quickly noticed her covering her ears.

What is this, a reminder to myself?
He hesitated for a second, then deliberately summoned the illusory tidal wave within his mind. Immediately afterward, the voice of the true creator rang in his ears. Mad, corrupt, yet somehow different.

There seemed to be some kind of message in those distorted babblings.

Upon hearing the murmured voice, Lu Ze's flesh and blood seemed to react. After a moment's thought, he stretched out his finger and snapped it off with a "crack".
