Mystery: The Last Shepherd
Chapter 319 Protecting the Lambs
Chapter 319 Protecting the Lambs
The crimson moon was embedded in the night sky, as if a terrible wound had suddenly appeared in the sky, and the blood-red moonlight it emitted was the blood flowing down from it.
Cons only briefly admired the strange scenery brought by the "blood moon" before turning his gaze back to the factory buildings and soon noticed the Rune script on the sign.
After reading it briefly, he understood the purpose of the factory.
"A textile factory?"
He remembered that Audrey seemed to have recently invested in a textile factory.
However, there are so many textile mills in Backlund, it can't possibly be just this one, right?
Thinking half-jokingly, Constance climbed over the wall and jumped into the factory area.
The bright, blood-red moonlight spread across the ground, illuminating his path. While it made things much easier, the scene still felt somewhat eerie and unsettling. The area around the factory was eerily quiet, devoid of pedestrians. The late December weather was cold and damp, as if the icy blood on the ground had become damp, seeping into his very bones.
A sense of unease slowly crept into Constance's heart.
"brush!"
He drew his revolver from his waist; its magazine was filled with extraordinary bullets, capable of delivering powerful blows to all sorts of evil enemies. With the weapon in his hand, he immediately felt more confident.
Ha, even if there really are evil spirits, I can rely on them.
"what--"
Just as he was thinking this, a piercing scream shattered the tranquility of the night.
Are my words really that effective?
Cons was taken aback, then gripped his gun and ran toward the source of the shout.
Such a significant anomaly is very likely the target of his investigation!
"Dengdengdeng!"
He was already a Sequence 9 Arbitrator, and his body had been strengthened to a certain extent. With his full sprint, he arrived at the scene in a very short time.
After rounding the corner of the factory, Constance raised his revolver and aimed ahead.
The scene before him immediately widened his eyes.
Under the blood-red moonlight, an ordinary-looking old man from the East District lay on the ground, his face filled with despair. Crawling on his abdomen was a terrifying monster. Its body was covered in long black fur, its nails were long and sharp, and its head was buried deep in its belly, thrashing and tearing as if unleashing a bloodthirsty killing spree.
"Help me."
The man on the ground looked at Constance and said weakly, "He still has a sliver of life left, but he's on the verge of death."
boom!
Cons felt a chill run down his spine; this was the first time he had ever witnessed such a scene!
"Roar!"
Sensing someone approaching, the monster raised its head, revealing a twisted and terrifying face. Its snout protruded forward, its sharp teeth stained with blood and fragments of internal organs, and its eyes, fixed on Cons, held undisguised malice and madness.
It resembles a human to some extent, but more like a wolf.
Bathed in the crimson moonlight, it resembled a werewolf from legend!
"boom!"
Fear drove Constance to fire.
The exorcism bullets in the magazine were then fired with a roar, and the recoil force slammed into his hand.
Time seemed to slow down. He saw the revolver spew out smoke, the bullet burst through the muzzle, flashed a flash of light, and with great force, instantly struck the werewolf's abdomen, tearing a huge gash in its belly.
"Wow!"
A large clump of intestines flowed out of the werewolf's wound, steaming hot and rising in white vapor!
"vomit!"
Cons nearly vomited, but he gripped the revolver tightly and continued firing. "Bang bang bang!"
All three bullets missed their mark, as the werewolf, supporting the bloodied intestines with one hand, charged forward with astonishing speed. Constance saw a blurry shadow flash before his eyes and instinctively dodged to the left.
"puff!"
That was the sound of his body being torn apart. A tremendous force struck from his right, piercing through his ribs and penetrating his body.
It's that werewolf's claw!
Constance's body was then thrown into the air and crashed into the wall of the factory building a few meters behind him.
He rolled on the ground, feeling all his strength drain away. Looking to his right, he saw five deep, bloody gashes on his right ribs. Blood was flowing from the wounds; if he hadn't dodged in time, that blow would have torn him to pieces!
What a dangerous enemy!
Cons was terrified. His opponent was clearly an extraordinary being, and his strength far surpassed that of himself!
Sequence 8, or sequence 7?
Neither of them is someone I can handle in my current state!
"Roar"
The ferocious werewolf stared at him coldly, then simply stuffed the bloody intestines back into its body with its bare hands.
Its wounds are healing rapidly.
Where's my gun?
Cons was losing strength. He groped around on the ground, trying to find his weapon. Although it couldn't kill his opponent, it was his only hope at that moment!
Finally, guided by the moonlight, he found the pistol lying not far away.
However, the werewolf had already walked over, and just as Constance was about to touch the revolver, it stretched out its foot and stepped on his hand.
"Crack!"
A crisp cracking sound followed, bringing Constance excruciating pain and extinguishing his last hope. He watched in despair as the werewolf wore a cruel smile.
Am I going to die here?
Cons couldn't help but think.
I'm sorry, Mr. Reeves, you're right.
At this moment, his heart was filled with regret, despair, and resentment.
His family's faces flashed before his eyes, and he longed to see them again: his caring brother, his loving mother, and his father, who, though talkative, was equally considerate.
Just then, through the werewolf's body, he saw the old man slowly walking towards death.
The bleeding from his abdominal wound had stopped, and his internal organs shimmered pink in the moonlight. Yet, he was still struggling, his eyes, like Cons's, filled with resentment.
Why is this happening?
Old Jack asked himself this question as he lay dying.
Having finally ended my days of wandering in the East District, I met the missionary. This generous and kind gentleman gave me a stable life and a good job. Little did I know, just leaving the factory a little late today would lead to an encounter with a man-eating monster.
I don't want to die yet; I still want to enjoy a few more good days.
Old Jack's vision was blurring, his heart filled with resentment. With his last breath, he weakly called out:
"Your Excellency, Missionary"
The voice was so faint that it witnessed the death of its original owner the moment it was uttered.
Constance didn't hear what the other was saying, but he knew very well that he would be next to die. The werewolf released its foot, but then kicked him hard again, sending him sprawling onto his back.
Is this what they're going to do, like that person, and eat my internal organs?
Cons felt the foul, bloody mouth approaching.
But just then, a distant and ethereal voice suddenly rang out:
"I come, I see, I record."
The illusory gate suddenly opened, and a red figure slowly appeared from behind it.
