Mystery: The Last Shepherd

Chapter 34 The Fighting Instructor and the Dinner

Chapter 34 The Fighting Instructor and the Dinner

A few days later, Lu Ze was called into Dunn's office again.

“Lanius swindled over ten thousand pounds. If it weren’t for you, many citizens of Tingen would probably have gone bankrupt overnight,” he said to Luzer, handing him ten ten-pound notes. “Although a small amount of cash has not yet been recovered, the victims still want to express their gratitude to you. They have pooled together a total of 100 pounds and hope to give it to you.”

Lu Ze took the banknotes, counted out five, and returned them to Dunn. "Captain, I need your help with something. Please give this money to the family of the dead guard for me."

Because of his property and regular salary, Old Neil was no longer short of money, so he decided to be generous and show his appreciation to the guard who had unfortunately died.

Dunn gave Lu Ze a deep look, then took back the banknotes. "I understand."

He suddenly chuckled softly, "Ha, it's ironic. I told you before that Tingen was very safe, with only a few cases a month, but you've only been on the job for a few days and you've already encountered a series of extraordinary events."

Lu Ze was speechless. Could it be that he had some kind of innate constitution that attracted evil gods? He hadn't been transmigrated for long, but he was constantly being chased and harassed by the subordinates of various evil gods.

“Indeed, you should learn close combat to protect yourself. If you had known close combat back then, this wouldn’t have been so dangerous,” Dunn said. “Klein is also undergoing training, so you can go with him.”

"Okay Captain."

Lu Ze also had a strong desire to become stronger, and he immediately nodded when he heard him say that.

"Is there anything else?"

After the conversation ended, he didn't get up, but continued to ask questions.

"Um"

Dunn rubbed his temples and pondered for a moment. “In Tingen City, we have a team tradition where new recruits must complete a task independently to gain the recognition of the team members. Given that you completed this task independently and made a significant contribution, I will consider it a task you completed independently, and I don’t think the others will have any objections.”

It means that there was originally a single-player task, but now I don't have to do it anymore, right?

Lu Ze nodded thoughtfully.

But he didn't move. Instead, he sat there looking at Dunn, as if silently asking him, "Is there anything else?"

Seeing this, Dunn couldn't help but smile wryly, "It's really nothing."

"Mr. Gawain was once a knight, and he has a rather strict personality. Don't try to challenge him; just do as he asks."

In the afternoon, on the way to the combat coach's residence, Klein gave these instructions. He had started training a few weeks earlier than Luze and was already familiar with the combat coach's temperament and personality.

"What if he makes things difficult for me?"

"It's not that he's being difficult; Mr. Gao Wen is just very strict."

Klein seemed to recall something, and a smile appeared on his face. "Oh, right, there's a welcome banquet for you tonight, remember to eat well."

Because of the pursuit of Lanius, the banquet originally scheduled for Friday was changed to tonight. The venue for the dinner was the old Will restaurant, where they usually dine, and the cost was covered by the team's public funds.

It's just a meal, why are you so happy?

Luzer gave Klein a strange look and nodded.

Soon, they arrived at their destination: a two-story building on the outskirts of the northern district. The house was not very attractive, and the garden and lawn had been neglected for a long time, with weeds growing wildly and unchecked.

Pushing open the rusty iron gate, they walked along a path wide enough for two people to walk side by side to the front door of the house. Upon entering, they found a tall man with his back to them, staring at the empty fireplace.

Hearing the door open, Gawain turned around, first glancing at Klein, then looking at Luzer.

"Who is he?"

He was quite old, with graying temples and prominent nasolabial folds, but his eyes remained remarkably bright. Under his gaze, Luze felt a sense of unease, as if he were being watched by an old lion. "Teacher, his name is Luze Rondohr, and he's a new colleague," Klein explained. "I hope you can, as per the contract, teach him fighting techniques just as you taught me."

Gao Wen sized Lu Ze up and down for a moment, then sneered, "He's even thinner than you!"

So what if someone is thin? Can you expect a mentally ill person to exercise?
Lu Ze thought to himself, and met his gaze openly.

After scrutinizing Lu Ze, Gao Wen suddenly asked him, "If I were to suddenly attack you and kill you, how would you react?"

"shot."

Lu Ze answered immediately.

"Let's say you don't have a gun."

Gao Wen frowned.

"Run into the street immediately and shout for help."

"You're not allowed to leave the house! Let's assume we're both right here in this house, and you have to fight me!"

Gao Wen said angrily.

“Then I definitely can’t beat you,” Lu Ze said frankly. “I can only try to keep my distance from you, use a long weapon to entangle you, and prioritize attacking your weak points, such as your groin and eyes. If I really can’t beat you, and you really want to kill me, then I might turn on the gas valve to release the gas, then set it on fire and die together with you. I’ve already observed that the gas valve in your house is an old-fashioned one, and it’s very easy to open.”

He openly stated his plan, and Klein's expression, which had initially been one of watching the drama unfold, gradually turned to astonishment.

Gao Wen stared at him coldly, and after a moment, smiled contemptuously.

"They only resort to despicable acts. Ha, but at least they dare to fight to the death with the enemy, which is somewhat acceptable."

"Then I can stay, right?"

Lu Ze asked.

Then he saw Gawain point to the other side of the living room, "There are training riding outfits over there. After you change, do the most basic strength training. Have your colleague tell you the specifics. Got it?"

Gao Wen suddenly raised his voice and roared in an extremely authoritative tone.

"Yes!"

The two instinctively straightened up and answered loudly.

So for the next three hours, Luzer, under Klein's guidance, began to get up close and personal with dumbbells and jump ropes.

That night, at the Old Wells Restaurant.

Apart from the team members guarding the Chanis Gate, all members of Blackthorn Security were present, including clerical staff and night watchmen.

The tempting food was beautifully arranged on plates, covering the entire table, with everyone's table overflowing with food.

Unfortunately, Lu Ze had no appetite. He had been training intensely for three whole hours that afternoon, and fatigue and exhaustion filled his body. Just seeing the delicious food and smelling its aroma made him want to vomit.

It was only then that he realized what Klein's meaningful smile had truly meant.

"Come, let's welcome our newest official member, Luze Londor. He has already made great contributions to our Tingen Market Nightwalker Squad since joining. Let's thank him together, cheers!"

"Qiang!"

The cups of everyone clinked together, making a pleasant sound.
