Mystery: The Last Shepherd

Chapter 434 The Black Saint

Chapter 434 The Black Saint

Lu Ze could sense that they were not far from their destination, so he simply manipulated the strong wind to blow the sails, allowing the ship to move forward at top speed.

After half a day of sailing at full speed, a strange island appeared before them.

The island wasn't large, but it was shrouded in a thick fog, with only its edges visible; beyond that, nothing could be seen. Only the sound of soft voices emanating from within filled one with a sense of peace and joy, compelling one to venture deeper into the fog to explore.

"This is it."

Luzer had Anderson walk around the island, and found that the finger also circled around, thus confirming that the owner of the bloody finger was on this island.

But how do we get up there?
Even a Sequence 4 demigod cannot leave this island safely; it would be unwise to rashly venture in. Fortunately, the destination is now clear, allowing time for further research before making any plans.
"Okay, let's stop now and not get any closer."

He said to Anderson.

“If you don’t tell me, I won’t dare to go inside.”

Anderson said with a smile, his lips twitching slightly.

He could see very clearly that although the island was shrouded in fog, something very strange remained at the visible edge.

—Those were the carcasses of many animals, from rotting, clean skeletons to recently deceased corpses, from birds to humans.

The state of those corpses was very abnormal; they looked as if their bodies had been split in two. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the splitting was not caused by external damage, but rather seemed to be a deliberate splitting of the body itself, as if each side had suddenly developed its own will.

If they keep going closer, they might end up like them, torn in two!
Luzer was unaware of Anderson's thoughts, but he also noticed the condition of the corpses and guessed that it might be due to some strange influence on the island.

He doesn't know the specific reason yet.

Luze distanced the ship from the island and waited quietly for night to fall. Perhaps he could glean more information from the Black Knight's dream.

While waiting, he successfully traded "Grigg's Shadow" with the Moon through a ritual performed by Anderson. He paid £1000 for it, leaving him with £14800 in cash.

They waited for several hours, and then suddenly darkness enveloped them.

finally come
Lu Ze, who had been waiting in the bedroom, took a deep breath, turned over and lay down on the bed, quickly entering a dream.

After a moment of confusion, he regained consciousness and found himself in a large hall. On one side of the hall was a large iron gate, behind which lay a dark corridor and a prison cell, not much different from the view he had seen before he left.

It's that dream from before!

I'm still there!

Lu Ze suppressed his emotions and concealed his aura to avoid being discovered by the enormous black knight. The knight's current location was unknown; it was best to be cautious.

He quietly searched the hall, bypassing many cluttered items, looking for other paths.

However, many of the passageways in the hall were dead ends, leading nowhere, forcing him to circle back. Apart from the iron bars leading to the prison, there was only an inconspicuous black wooden door.

Lu Ze hesitated for a moment, then quickly approached the door, grabbed the doorknob, and slowly pushed it open.

A few seconds later, the scene behind the door came into view.

It looks like a storage room, with a full-length mirror on one side and clutter piled up on the other.

Behind the clutter, a figure huddled, dressed in a linen robe. It was the same figure who had jumped out to draw the Black Knight's attention and save him.

"It's you?"

The man in the linen robe recognized Luze. "You've finally come! Did you bring anyone else to rescue me?"

He still remembers me.
"I'm sorry, I haven't found any more people yet."

Lu Ze shook his head.

Taking advantage of this moment, he got a clear look at the other person's appearance.

This was a man with a very weathered face; deep wrinkles lined his forehead, eyes, and around his mouth, but his hair was jet black and glossy, without a single gray hair. His linen robe was simple and plain, and his face was filled with a pained expression. What was most striking were his eyes. Unlike normal people, his eyes were completely black!

"Is there no one else?"

The man cried out in anguish, "That demon is about to find me."

"Calm down, you will be saved."

Lu Ze spoke up to comfort the other person, trying to calm him down.

This guy is different from me; he can't stay awake in his dreams, and his words and actions are almost instinctive. Just as "nightmares" can interrogate suspects in their dreams, they don't hide their true intentions either.

He planned to extract some useful information from this strange man.

"I am a missionary named Alexander Gascoigne. Who are you?"

Lu Ze first gave his pseudonym, then used it to guide the other party.

“My name is Leomaster, and I am a monk in a religious organization.”

The man gradually calmed down and answered.

"A religious organization? That doesn't sound like the Seven Gods."

Lu Ze's heart skipped a beat, and he asked the question knowing the answer already.

He had already guessed that the religious organization the other party was referring to was the Aurora Society.

But something's not quite right. When did the Aurora Society members become so agreeable and rational? Normally, they'd start going crazy after just three sentences, and he didn't have that corrupt and twisted aura about him.
Leomaster nodded and said:

“You’re right, we worship the original Creator. He is all-knowing and all-powerful, the source of all greatness.”

Even when it came to praising the Lord, he remained rational, without revealing any ferocious fanaticism. This strange feeling made Luze quite uncomfortable.

"Then what are you doing here?"

Lu Ze then asked a question.

"I have come on a pilgrimage. The Lord sleeps at the easternmost point of the Sunya Sea, where His holy mountain is hidden. I have led a group here, hoping to witness miracles and find redemption."

Upon hearing this, Lu Ze's expression gradually changed.

Is this guy leading the team?

Isn't the leader of the team a saint from the Aurora Society?

"During this process, we were attacked by a terrible demon. It's the one you see. It attacked my companions, killing them one by one, leaving only me hiding here."

Leomaster was unaware of Luzer's inner thoughts, and instead recalled them with a sorrowful expression.

"So that's it."

Lu Ze composed himself and asked calmly, "Then do you know what that demon's name is?"

“I don’t know who he is. But my companions seem to know,” Leomaster replied. “Before they died, I heard them screaming in terror, calling the black knight…”

"The Saint of Black".

"boom!"

The wooden door was blasted open from the outside, and the tall knight, carrying a massive black sword, strode in.
