I summoned the Fourth Scourge in Warhammer

Chapter 107 Let's all join the glorious melee combat!

Chapter 107 Let's all join the glorious melee combat!

On the sand dunes, the battle lines between humans and greenskins have completely vanished, replaced by a gigantic, ever-writhing meat grinder.

With their superior height and strength, far exceeding that of humans, the green-skinned boys held an absolute advantage in one-on-one combat. Each swing of their seemingly crudely made machetes easily cleaved a player in two, along with their armor.

Without any impact or leverage, a strong green-skinned player can often drag three or four players down to hell even after being stabbed through the body by several bayonets.

The exchange ratio is extremely disadvantageous to players from the very beginning.

However, the players also possess a major advantage that the greens lack—JK, the highest command node, is safely residing in the rear command post. As long as he doesn't die, the players can respawn infinitely there and immediately rejoin the battlefield.

For them, death was nothing more than a brief moment of darkness followed by a second of re-opening their eyes, then grabbing their weapons and charging back into the battlefield.

As soon as a player falls, two others immediately step over his corpse to fill the void.

In the first hour after the fighting began, the last heavy firepower support on the position also completely fell silent. The ammunition boxes for heavy explosive shells and automatic cannons were empty. After firing their last shells, the gunners looked at each other, and then simultaneously pulled out entrenching tools and self-defense pistols from under their seats.

"Damn it, it's our turn!"

"Glory in melee! Charge!"

Now, everyone except JK, who was there as the Easter point, was forced to join this glorious melee.

Tactics, strategy, and coordinated firepower were all cast to the winds by the green-skinned soldiers and players present. Only one simple truth remained on the battlefield:
Draw your knives, hack and slash each other, and that's it!
This frenzied bloodbath began at dusk and by midnight had devolved into a pure melee of cold weapons, a relentless, endless hacking and slashing. Time lost its meaning; only the killing was eternal.

As the stars of Peditian struggled to rise again from the horizon, casting their pale light upon the blood-soaked dunes, the roars of battle continued unabated.

The corpses were piled up like mountains, and the green and red blood mixed together, turning the yellow sand into a dark brown.

In this atmosphere of utter madness, where everyone was blinded by rage, only a handful of people retained their last vestiges of sanity.

One of these green-skinned leaders, the war chief Red-Eye, was among them.

It stood atop a Skull, overlooking the entire battlefield. It watched its minions relentlessly cutting down the enemy, but the "shrimp" seemed endless, surging out of the trenches wave after wave. This battle was utterly devoid of skill, a pure war of attrition. Red-Eye didn't care about its minions' lives, but it found this kind of attrition rather "unexciting."

"WAAAGH!!"

A deafening roar erupted from the red-eyed man's throat; it was not a call to charge, but an order to retreat.

Upon receiving the order, the greenskins, amidst the curses and blows of the savage orcs, began to reluctantly and grumble as they disengaged from the enemy and retreated.

Apart from the crazy kid who had gone mad from pondering profound questions like "Why is my machete red?" and was still recklessly wielding his weapon, most of the green-skinned characters quickly lost contact with the players.

After frantically dealing with the last few crazy kids, the players instinctively wanted to continue the pursuit. Having hacked and slashed all night, their fighting spirit had reached its peak.

But soon, JK's slightly tired but still steady command reached everyone's ears through the command channel.

"All units, cease pursuit! Return to your positions immediately, clear trenches, and reorganize your defenses!"

Most players stopped, panting heavily, after hearing the order. But some players, completely enraged, ignored the order and roared as they charged alone into the retreating green-skinned army.

However, instead of being met with greenskins' machetes, they were met with a hail of bullets. Extricated from melee combat, the greenskins immediately grabbed their beloved ranged weapons and unleashed a furious barrage of fire at the reckless pursuers.

Those players were instantly riddled with bullets. A few seconds later, they respawned at the respawn point. The shock of their deaths calmed them down considerably, and they reluctantly returned to their positions.

Behind the green-skinned lines, the boys, fresh from the battlefield, were still in a frenzy. They brandished their blood-stained machetes, boasting of their recent victories and occasionally letting out unintelligible roars. Amid the chaos, a green-skinned boy, several sizes larger than his brethren, squeezed to Red Eye's side and asked in a gruff voice, "Boss, why are we being forced to retreat? I was having a blast! My machete isn't even dull yet!"

Its question immediately drew agreement from the surrounding boys.

"Yeah, boss! Those shrimps crumble at the slightest touch, it's really fun to chop them up!"

"Give me another hour, and I can rip their guts out!"

"Wait! I haven't cut enough yet!"

Hearing its subordinates' incessant complaints, Red Eyes snorted coldly, its massive roar instantly drowning out all the noise. It surveyed these simple-minded combat units from its superior position, saying disdainfully, "You guys, all you can think about is 'WAAAGH!' and hacking people. All you can think about is petty things like slashing each other with knives."

The first kid to ask a question scratched his head, revealing a憨厚 (honest and simple) smile full of fangs: "Of course! You're the boss, so you're the one who takes care of the important things! We just need to follow you and chop things up!"

"Hmph," Red Eyes seemed quite pleased with the subtle flattery, exhaling two puffs of hot air from its massive nostrils. It raised its thick arm and pointed to the rear of the players' positions in the distance, where, in the dim light of dawn, a massive, unimaginably large silhouette was revealed. "Didn't you see that super-sized ship?"

The boys looked in the direction Red Eyes was pointing and squinted their little red eyes. At first, they thought it was a strange mountain, but when the starlight outlined the metallic hull, they realized what it was.

"Hey! Boss! What's that huge ship over there?"

"My God, how much sheet metal must that thing have!"

"It really is! How did you find it, Red-Eyed Boss? I looked for ages and couldn't spot it!"

This kind of flattery seemed rather clumsy compared to before, so Red Eyes wasn't particularly pleased. He simply said in a lecturing tone, "Let me tell you, my goal with WAAAGH this time is to seize this giant ship! Then, using its iron plates and parts, I'll build a super, super big, super, super noisy, super, super black smoke-belching, super, super powerful colossus that can shoot things apart!"

The depiction of the red eyes excited all the greenskins present. Their breathing became heavy, and their eyes gleamed with longing and worship for the massive war machine. They began to howl uncontrollably, pounding the ground and their breastplates with their weapons, venting their fanaticism.

"Colossus! Colossus!"

"There are eight super ones!"

"WAAAGH!!!"

Red Eyes nodded in satisfaction and raised his hand to silence the boys' commotion: "That's why I told you to retreat. Otherwise, if you kept hacking at each other like that, even after another month of fighting, we still wouldn't be able to break through these shrimps' defenses. All our boys would be dead, and then what would we use to build the Colossus?"

At this point, another green-skinned man raised a crucial question: "Then why aren't you going in, boss? Those shrimps don't seem like they can withstand a single axe blow from you, right?"

Red Eyes was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "Because I think... maybe it was Brother Mao's inspiration that gave me... if I rush in rashly, something terrible will happen!"

Upon hearing the words "Brother Mao," all the greenskins, including the strongest and most savage orcs, gasped in shock, their fanaticism instantly replaced by awe.

"Hiss—it's actually a revelation about Mao Zedong!"

"The boss has received a divine decree!"

The boys' gazes towards Red Eyes completely changed; they now held a reverence akin to that for a prophet. They urged him, "Boss, you absolutely mustn't go! If Second Brother Mao says it's wrong, then it's definitely wrong!"

"Right, right, right! Let us go and fight the shrimp! Boss, you can just watch the show!"

"For the Colossus! For WAAAGH!"
